I was thinking the same thing. It was a passive insult, still it was one I or any other user for that matter, shouldn't have to be confronted with. If I remember it correctly, I was browsing through his contributions because of some questionable blog-commenting and stumbled upon an unpleasant surprise when I wanted to remark on that. Reason enough for a block I thought. I made it one day, because it wasn't an active insult. But thanks for the backup. JspoelJspoel Vault Boy.png 14:55, July 17, 2011 (UTC)

Quick question

Hey there. I just have a quick question for you here: On the Fallout: New Vegas cultural references page, there is something on there as follows:

"When the Courier wins 4,500 caps at Gomorrah the floor manager says "Looks like you're on a roll! Luck be a lady tonight!" This is a line from the song "Luck Be A Lady," written by Frank Loesser for Guys and Dolls, the Broadway musical about gamblers and their girls. Frank Sinatra played Nathan Detroit in the film version, but the song was actually sung by Marlon Brando(!) in that movie. Sinatra later made it one of his standards."

The above entry's header section thingy is "Frank Sinatra". However, seeing as it was originally in Guys and Dolls, should the header be changed to Guys and Dolls over "Frank Sinatra"? --With care and happiness, Supermutantslayer450' You will know the truth... And the truth will set you free.. 16:11, July 17, 2011 (UTC)

Alrighty. That sounds pretty good. Also, what's up with the text on your talk page? It looks different from evertyhing else on the wiki, at least for me. --With care and happiness, Supermutantslayer450' You will know the truth... And the truth will set you free.. 16:43, July 17, 2011 (UTC)

Nice. It looks pretty cool, too. --With care and happiness, Supermutantslayer450' You will know the truth... And the truth will set you free.. 16:46, July 17, 2011 (UTC)

Van Buren

Well thanks for telling me Ghost, (or is it Avatar?) So it is okay to add this to the pages that are based on Van Buren: i.e. the character's pages on which most of my time has been spent this weekend? Thanks for intervening and adding your opinion too :). I look forward to hearing from you soon, TheGuardianCalligraphy.pngGuardianoftheWastesTag.png.

Yes, that is something I can't quite understand about these achievements. They were introduced to improve the quantity of edits etcetera, but if anyone undertakes a course of action that earns them a great number of badges, they risk getting banned. A paradox of sorts, no? TheGuardianCalligraphy.pngGuardianoftheWastesTag.png.
That's very kind of you, Ghost. I will finish my mission then ;), and will ckeck that I have done all I can before I move on. Until we have a debate or forum of some kind, we won't be able to solve this, but I think it is obvious what is and what isn't achievement boosting. Once again, thank you for your time and I hope to see you around :). TheGuardianCalligraphy.pngGuardianoftheWastesTag.png.

Ghoul Ecology / Superior Defender

Avatar, I received this question about adding two perk bonuses on Fallout 3 weapon pages. Lot of work but seems legit. What's your take on it? JspoelJspoel Vault Boy.png 17:41, July 17, 2011 (UTC)

OWB Templates

Ah, you're still online. I was thinking, can you take a look at some FNV templates for the upcoming DLC Old World Blues? For example the FNV quest template could use some altering, so that when the OWB quest pages are created there's not so much that needs to be changed anymore. JspoelJspoel Vault Boy.png 22:29, July 17, 2011 (UTC)

  • Ehh, yes. Page creation templates. To be clear. Do you have some spare time left for that? JspoelJspoel Vault Boy.png 23:34, July 17, 2011 (UTC)

Thanks for sending me the link for the IRC rules. Maybe there should be some rules written up regarding Vault Chat specifically? There are plenty of users who make accounts for the sole purpose of using the chat, so they should probably become familiar with the rules too. Yes Man default.png 06:00, July 18, 2011 (UTC)

None of the others have even answered me, it's been 3 or more than 3 days since my ban, I'd like to know when it ends, plus I don't know who administered the ban so could you please get back to me on that? The Editor Looks Like It's from 1990

How do I switch to the new editor. My editor looks like some 1990's Microsoft Office Word program. On CoD, Assassin's Creed, Halo, GTA, and other wiki's show me the new-looking editor. Paladin Dark 21:48, July 18, 2011 (UTC)

Really? That sucks. That meas I'm gonna have to check them every time someone adds a picture. X.x; In the meantime I guess I'll stick to trying to get the Notable Loot sections down. Although I need to ask what exactly constitutes something being notable. Because I'm seeing articles with things like Pressure Cookers listed in the loot section. Stealth suit Mk II and cyberdog

Hello my friend ;)

Yes you are right, alternative name should be put but I think you are agree with me than real name with already the in-game name are useless to put like AER9 laser rifle for FO3-FNV laser rifle, but anyway thanks for the heads up ;).

Ho also a small favor if you do not mind =), can you check my english in the cyberdog page. I write it yesterday (because the all variant put with OWB) but since my english is not perfect, many mistake are in place I think, it would be really appreciated. Keep up the good works Ghost and see soon ;)! Itachou [~talk~] 11:44, July 21, 2011 (UTC)

I was just thinking the same thing, with Kris uppercapping sharecropper farms again. We should make a forum page of it, and in the same haul could do the items, consumables and so on. But it's a lot of work inventarize all those things. We can try to split tasks between admins, maybe some rollbackers. Don't agree on O by the way. Cass gets her full name, while O gets a complete name change. JspoelJspoel Vault Boy.png 12:54, July 21, 2011 (UTC)

It is certain that I will see your beautiful country one day =), sharing a great story with my country (of friendship and conflict, like all friend country today right)? Well, thank you for the discussion Ghost, it was really nice =)! Have a nice day and see you soon! Itachou [~talk~] 13:31, July 21, 2011 (UTC)

Yes, I see your image for the rat slayer and the anti-materiel - what to say, extremely perfect job, it's just awesome my friend I really like them ;)! If you could do it for some other charismatic weapon as the glock 86, holorifle, katana, revolver of the veteran rangers, K9000 cyberdog gun etc. (there are too many in fact) - I hope you don't take too long because they are superb, and combined with the standard image, the weapon releases really something more (sad we can't do this only for FO3 and FNV).
I'm a passionate about weapons and sincerely I'm exults! Keep up the good works - I'm looking forward to your next works of art =)! Itachou [~talk~] 21:03, July 21, 2011 (UTC)

Keep up and Wild Wasteland page

Hello my friend ;)

Proton axe is just amazing, I like it. Keep up the good works!

Also for Wild Wasteland page, I think put a warning noting that all name in the page are titled as it is in-game and not by the cultural reference would be the best solution, because I think many people will try to change without knowing that (as Shadow who is an admin so I think normal user change even more pragmatically). Itachou [~talk~] 01:09, July 22, 2011 (UTC)

Since the first Fallout used as a base concept Worlds of Tomorrow (I've never read but I think I should do one day), I think it was really the first objective to follow during the development (and also to be a new "Wasteland" game more focused on Mad-Max style), a parody of the 50s perfectionist vision of the future.

Hum... sincerely I think that basically the developers wanted the Fallout universe don't changed before the 50s, but things don't go as they should ;). Some exception like you are mentioned are proof. Itachou [~talk~] 01:59, July 22, 2011 (UTC)

Agree, this is not the absolute truth, but you can it as the fact that from the 50s, major changes from our world diverged. Anyway, several important people keep that in mind as Chris and Josh, I think it's a good compromise to see that the major changes are only during and after the 50s =). Itachou [~talk~] 02:21, July 22, 2011 (UTC)

Yes I also think it's the right thing to do =), to explain that some minor divergences things (like Sunset Sarsaparilla, Sierra Army Depot, etc.) come before the 50s and major divergences come in and after the 50s, despite some certain things in our world have not diverged (several weapons shows these as the Desert Eagle, Smith & Wesson M29, H&K CAWS, Pancor Jackhammer, FN FAL, H&K G11, MP5 H&K, UZI, Walther MPL, SPAS 12 etc.) Itachou [~talk~] 14:13, July 22, 2011 (UTC)

Hey, my user name is TonE Man. I guess you banned me for erasing something on the lockpick recipe location. The only reason i did is because i checked to confirm it and it was not true. i was kinda pissed that it wasnt true because i made the page so someone could post the location. its the last thing i need in the dlc. that is the reason i erased it. they posted false info. so if im wrong, could you write it so its a little more clear. btw i cleaned up the other skill book recipes too. your welcome and please un ban me. if not, at least confirm the location of the last recipe in old world blues. recipes - lockpick skillbook. and the location "reception observation area" that he posted doesnt exist in new vegas. i checked.

Live Chat - GhostAvatar Bot

There may be an issue with your bot. In the live chat, it repeatedly left and re-entered the chat non stop. I think you might want to take a look at it. Ask Scarface too, he was there when it started. Just a heads up. Keep up the good work, man. Yes Man default.png 11:59, July 22, 2011 (UTC)

I've seen it too, Gavvy, as Yessie says. It keeps logging in and out, sometimes with five to ten minute interwalls, sometime several times in a second. I'm not sure what the problem is, so it might be prudent to place a temporary ban on it, as it is disrupting chat. Hugs Scar: "Say 'ello to my little friend!" 12:33, July 22, 2011 (UTC)
  • I saw it too, so I've kickbanned your bot. JspoelJspoel Vault Boy.png 12:48, July 22, 2011 (UTC)

GhostAvatar im am sorry for cursing on the the vault chat and i am wondering if you can un-ban me or if there is anything i can do to get unbanned

  • Ok, probably that was it then. While I was kickbanning your bot, I took a look at the programming of it. You already did a lot of work on it, it will sure come in handy dealing with the the decap/uppercap issues once we get agreement on it. Just talked to Ausir about it in chat (map markers). He suggests a forum topic. Do you want to set that up? JspoelJspoel Vault Boy.png 19:41, July 22, 2011 (UTC)
  • Sure, it can be in the coming days once you feel you're ready. I (and the community I think) appreciate your programming efforts, your bot can really take a lottt of tedious work out of our hands.
  • Yeah, double spaces, that's a good one. I get that a lot. Do you know how that happens?
  • Can it work with categories? Like let's says on the Nellis Boomer museum page and there's a missile launcher as notable loot on the page, can it change it to missile launcher because it can see that the museum is categorized in a Fallout: New Vegas category?

Is there any way you can have this bot differentiate between an edit and a minor edit? (We have minor edits blocked.) And what's with it editing its previous edits? Sometimes we can't tell what was changed...DarthOrc 04:20, July 29, 2011 (UTC)DarthOrc

I've done that now. Thanks a lot for the heads-up :). See you around TheGuardianCalligraphy.pngGuardianoftheWastesTag.png.

I got confused and reverted two of your edits, adding categories to creature pages, before I remembered that the categories are OK, it's the Games tag that doesn't belong on creature pages for creatures not introduced in the DLC. wanted pages

Some of the pages listed in the wanted pages are links that does not work since they are a typing mistake. So all that is needed is to change the spelling in the link to the correct page. I have done this to a few, however I have noticed that the blue line across them to show they have been fixed does not occur, when a new page is not created. So how can it be shown that these pages are not required anyway? For instance there was a wanted page under number 645 that was linking to the non exiting page "NCR Dollars". However, under the capitalization rules this page is called "NCR dollars" which already exists. So how can I, when not creating a new page but correcting the links typo, show that this item is no longer required? Another example is page 663.

Another problem is item number 668. This page again has a link on it that is incorrect due to a typo. However, the page where the link is seems to be non-functional. http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/PRO_ITEM.MSG_(Fallout_2) On the other hand, there is quite a lot of pages linking to this non-functional page. All I get when clicking those blue links or by attempting to open the page linking to issue 668 is a blank white page.

Issue 76 has three links, which are all due to this member signing his posts in an incorrect way, so instead of linking to his profile it links to a non-existing page in the wiki with the similar name.

Finally, issue 36 claims to have 4 links to this "wanted page", nevertheless not 1 of these pages at this point contains such a link or any reference to such page existing. The same is the problem for issue 22.

Basically, how can I assist in cleaning up the "wanted pages" list after fixing links that are "wanted" due to capitalization or spelling errors and how can I remove pages from the wanted list that nobody at this point are requesting??

The above mentioned problems seems to be relevant for tons of "Wanted Pages", and I'm happy to fix them, just tell me how --Kilroy1975 14:08, July 23, 2011 (UTC)

Immune to radiation page

Because it was on the "wanted Pages" list. And because some of the information on the list differs from the radiation page. The links that these four links uses, cannot logically be put into a radiation list. It would make little sense to me. There are distinct differences that they have come up with in those articles linking, and having to change all of that to make it match seems to be a lot of work when at least some of us can see a point in having both pages. --Kilroy1975 18:20, July 23, 2011 (UTC)

And I completely disagree with the fact that you alone changes a site by redirecting it. The page that you redirected to does not explain any of the differences in use if for instance the same symbol with two meanings and it does not explain some of the other issues that were presented. So unless you add this things to the other page I clearly suggest that you undo the redirecting. --Kilroy1975 18:37, July 23, 2011 (UTC)

Lonesome Road content?

Hello my friend ;)

Well I don't know if you saw, but I think (at least I'm sure for one) that there are two objects added with OWB for Lonesome Road in the GECK (one have in its name NVdlc04 - typical designation for DLC item and with the number 4 corresponding to Lonesome Road, and the other NVDLC42 - may be a misspelling because the 2 but the NVdlc and the 4 is here).

One is called "NVdlc04diningtable01" (A dining table, I think it's the table for the encounter between the Courier and Ulysses during a cinematic or something): [1]

The other is called "NVDLC42RedRockCanyonArenaFence" (It have the same model and texture of the Great Khans arena in Red Rock Canyon but since the NVDLC42, it may be appeared in Lonesome Road): [2]

I wanted to know what you think, it's always nice to find little evidence for the future content =). Itachou [~talk~] 22:30, July 23, 2011 (UTC)

Yes I saw the map of the Divide find by Mikael, it's really interesting ;) (we can see it in a lot of place in Big MT in addition)! Thanks for the information about the table, so there are a great chance that the table appear in Lonesome Road, pretty nice. Nice evening my friend and see soon =)! It doesn't seem to be working. I looked at the edit you made and it seems to me I should be adding "|baseid1 =" but when I do so, nothing happens. As an example:

renders this:

base id?

I tried adding it at the bottom first, but that didn't work either. --Kris User Hola.jpg 00:35, July 24, 2011 (UTC)

"American English is preferred at this wiki as it is the spelling most Fallout games use." While the games are set in the US, they're marketed internationally, the UK being a large audience to the series, of which i imagine a large amount of UK residents visit The Vault. I don't see why The Vault should disregard the existence of the English language in favour of the Americanised version - both forms are easily understood and accepted as correct, and i highly doubt an S in place of a Z is going to confuse anyone. Still, thanks for the heads up. The REPCONN Headquarters tour guide is a Mister Handy based on his own dialogue, and has three pinchers instead of the normal variety of arms. I noticed this unusual configuration just the other day, and confirmed it just now. --Kris User Hola.jpg 13:23, July 24, 2011 (UTC)

Yes and no in fact. The unique REPCONN guide have three pincers it's right, but it have the same shiny green color and the logo of REPCONN like the standard REPCONN variant.
The image put by Kris in the gallery is Mr. Orderly, with white paint, blue hand parts and blue pincers. I go to put the real image for avoid confusion =). Itachou [~talk~] 13:40, July 24, 2011 (UTC)
It's not an explicit reference, it's how he says "ever so helpful Mr. Handy" (not sure if that's the exact quote), that makes it clear that he's referring to himself/his kind. It's part of the tour dialogue. --Kris User Hola.jpg 16:09, July 24, 2011 (UTC)

First of all, sorry if I did something wrong but I don't deserve to be banned I enjoy socialising with the other members of the vault in my spare time but now that I am banned from it I have too much spare time, I make good contributions to the vault and I would appreciate it if you could unban me, thanks. (Cool Story Bro 23:25, July 24, 2011 (UTC))

Agree for some point, but when a weapon don't use the same caliber, it's not the same weapon (like the Avenger and the Vindicator of Fallout Tactics, and I have seen you have separated the Avenger of FOT but not the Vindicator). Also, it's clearly show in the Master ending of Fallout and in the Fallout 2 intro that the first model of CZ53 doesn't have a backpack and a cage for the ammo.

And as I see with your conversation with Ausir - "We can note that there have been at least two models in both the CZ53 and the CZ57 line" =). I take care of the page for add that in respecting the rest, take a look after my friend ;). Itachou [~talk~] 16:51, July 25, 2011 (UTC)

I have done the edit =). I notified the difference with a small sentence at the end and re-write the description (which was copied from the description, which is not good because they are made for game format and not for background page).
I add some information like the rarity of MEC Gauss (only two in Fallout Tactics) and Vault-Tec 9mm minigun (only found in the Secret Vault). I put all references in the sources section, it's better that add all references since they come from the same file. Take a look if you want Ghost =): Minigun. No texture OWB .nif files

Say Avatar, I've extracted the weapons and armor/clothing of the OWB .bsa file to .nif files but I'm not getting any texture on the armors. It's all white. Weapons are ok. Do you have the same problem? And to get back on changing missile launcher to missile launcher on New Vegas pages: I wouldn't do that on weapon pages, because mostly it will have a disambig at the top and that shouldn't be changed. On New Vegas location pages it's allright I think. JspoelJspoel Vault Boy.png 14:23, July 26, 2011 (UTC)

No texture example.png
  • I can find them, no problem. Even placed them in the same map with other, working DLC .nif files. Still no luck, this is what I'm getting, color on the skin, none on the clothes. Any tips left?
  • You're a life-saver once again! I was checking the BSSTextureSet only to find nothing there. Then I was thinking, hey, maybe I need the textures (.dds files) to go with the .nif files. So I had just extracted the meshes, not the textures. Problem solved. JspoelJspoel Vault Boy.png 21:21, July 26, 2011 (UTC)

Oh My Papa quest

I noticed that you added "Needs to follow The Vault:Article layout guideline/Quest article guidelines)" to the Cleanup bar, but you did not delete "Detailed Walkthrough is incomplete and too NCR-storyline related, Notes section is too messy". Are you saying that it's still incomplete, NCR-biased, and messy?

I tried to add in an explanation for how this quest relates to all 3 storylines. I put it at the top so that players could see it before initiating the quest. Where should I put it? Detailed walkthrough? For the quick walkthru, I don't know how to enumerate a quest that has so many options. Do I go 1a, 1b, etc? I also included all options, and cleaned up the Notes section. Also, I'm confused about quest stages vs. journal entries.

Also, the quest article guidelines don't mention the bugs section. Is that supposed to be deleted? -LawdyMissMaudy 20:41, July 26, 2011 (UTC)

  • Trying to find examples of quest stages, but every quest page I've looked at uses journal entries. Can you point me to a page with an example? TY -LawdyMissMaudy 20:46, July 26, 2011 (UTC)
    • Oh, I didn't remove it coz I figured an Admin had to check it first! Well, I took out that line but left in the quest article thing, coz I'm not sure if it's up to par quite yet. The flow chart markup looks too complicated for me, so I used numbers but just bulleted the optional items in the quick walkthru. ty for your feedback. -LawdyMissMaudy 21:51, July 26, 2011 (UTC)

So being that some of them have differant specs, should I create additional infoboxes or should I create another disambig and separate them?--Kingclyde 21:58, July 27, 2011 (UTC)

I created the original disambig to separate the item from the weapon. Being that they both appear and NV, i decided not to add that tag.--Kingclyde 22:05, July 27, 2011 (UTC)

Brand names

I fail to see the logic in your reasoning about brand names. Since the names of the products are printed on their wrappings, that necessitates them being fully capitalized, because the entire name is a trademark. Furthermore, TOW wiki also capitalizes product names, even if they contain common nouns. http://images1.wikia.nocookie.net/fallout/images/0/08/Personal_Sig_Image.gif Tagaziel (call!) 14:59, July 27, 2011 (UTC)

Howitzer, fixed gun and "anti-aircraft"

After reviewing all the pages, all the weapons are the same type. However User:Mictlantecuhtli seems to believe that those on Hoover Dam are anti-aircraft guns. His reasoning is that one shoots down the Vertibird. A howitzer, properly aimed can do it as well. My opinion is that this is actually a fixed artillery gun. Anti-aircraft weapons utilize multi-barreled guns with small caliber rounds, not shells. Please review my delete page on the Anti-aircraft gun page. I believe we should list them all on the howitzer page and then set it up similar to how you were discussing the Sonic emitter. Thanks.--Kingclyde 04:35, July 28, 2011 (UTC)

Actually, I've noticed that it is controlled by and AA_Gun switch but in the GECK it is listed as NellisArtillery for the skin and the effect is listed as HooverDamTurret. There is not enough info to have a seperate page and I recommend merging the two. I kept adding the delete tag but he, User:Mictlantecuhtli insists on removing it. I have added a merge tag and told him how removing the delete tags when you are the article creator is not a good idea. In all reality, I could just delete it and move it all over to howitzer but I am being merciful and asking for another opinion. Thanks.--Kingclyde 05:06, July 28, 2011 (UTC)
The game clearly calls it an AA gun, it shoots down an aircraft. That's pretty straight forward and clear, the gun does not use a Nellis artillery skin for anything but the barrel, you can clearly compare the two side by side and they do not have the same features (compare the howitzer BoomerCannon pic to the AA gun). The AA gun looks more like the fixed guns in Old World Blues, though still the cosmetic differences are apparent. I don't mind adding them all to an artillery page, I tried adding artillery variants earlier today and you didn't like that idea either but now want an artillery page. I just have to say, what the heck? The G.E.C.K. is a good source of info, but not infallible (just ask Kris about the Helios science book for instance). I just think people are going to identify it as an AA gun, not a howitzer and search for anti-aircraft gun. Its already happened in the Arizona Killer page where it was referred to as an AA gun because thats what it is called in the game (accessible to everyone not just PC users). The fact it uses anything of existing artillery just says the developers recycle, it doesn't mean they intended the gun to be considered a howitzer. Mictlantecuhtli 05:33, July 28, 2011 (UTC)
I think you've lost perspective. You are still fighting for a name which I have already confirmed as correct. I am using the GECK as an example that there is nowhere in the game or in the GECK that constitutes this to have it's own page. There is not ID numbers, just recycled skins which makes the item non-unique. It is not a world object unfortunatley. All world objects actually have counterparts in the GECK. I understand that you feel the GECK is infallible but when there is no specific info for the item you are discussing, it is just a skin and thus does not deserve it's own page. Sorry if it seems I'm picking on you Muctlantecuhti because I'm not.--Kingclyde 06:12, July 28, 2011 (UTC)
Where in the GECK. I must be looking in the wrong area. Again. But an overview page would probably be best as the interaction differences for each item is minimal. Each item is only used once for one action and that's it.--Kingclyde 11:10, July 28, 2011 (UTC)
Now I see it. I didn't think of looking at architecture. Duh.--Kingclyde 22:37, July 28, 2011 (UTC)
Well we've settled they can be merged. I didn't think you were picking on me, I was just a little annoyed that people started editing it, vandalizing it, etc when I had edited on it all day without anyone taking notice then all of a sudden people were all over it. So I might have gotten a little possessive, though after sleeping on it for the night, it does make sense and would be convenient. I already wrote up the Fallout 3 stuff even though they are never specifically called howitzers. I will actually start transferring the stuff over now, as no one else is in disagreement (I was the only one). Mictlantecuhtli 15:02, July 28, 2011 (UTC)

List of brand names

Alright, list of examples in TOW (category page 1) of products all capitalized despite being all common nouns: Cocoa Frosted Flakes, Complete Wheat Bran Flakes, Country Store, Crunchy Nut, Honey Loops. It's a minor issue, sure, but I'd just like to keep the articles accurate. Here's a list of stuff to keep capitalized:

Haha I saw, you're back for the special GhostAvatar weapons render! Keep up the good work, I look forward to see more =)! Itachou [~talk~] 13:26, July 28, 2011 (UTC)

  • Yes, incredible quality. I think you supply for the best weapon images across all the wikias. About the bot, did you program the super mutants to specific sub-species? I mean for example super mutant master to super mutant master when it's on a Fallout: New Vegas page? Same thing for the rest of the creatures of course. JspoelJspoel Vault Boy.png 13:55, July 28, 2011 (UTC)

Just a suggestion, even if I very - very like them sincerely, I think it's better for the format of the page to put them in the gallery instead of the infobox (since the extra image is here to add additional information) and also, this create a separation between FNV weapons and other games weapons. But this should not you brake, they are beautiful (I extremely like the holorifle, just perfect), keep up the good works I need more ;)! Itachou [~talk~] 17:04, July 28, 2011 (UTC)

Sincerely, I very sad it is not possible to do the same for the weapons of other Fallout games, since they are at the base 3D models, reduced later to be adapted with the means of time.

One question that have in mind since many time, you can do the same for the weapons in Fallout 3 as they use the same graphical engine? How long does it take you to make one? Haha sorry, I'm even more curious when the work is exceptional ;). Itachou [~talk~] 17:22, July 28, 2011 (UTC)

Wow one hour must be really hard, you really have a unfailing courage =). I delighted every time of their exceptional quality and I await the next tour with impatience, bravo for this addition that really improve the Vault (ho also, I'm more images than text so, haha I think it's even more delicious for me)! Sink's entities

Hello my friend ;)

I try to find a name for the designation of the Sink's entities. I check and the Sink Central Intelligence Unit cleary said that about if they are AI:

"Regrettably not, sir. All modules in this habitat are synthetic personalities atop a mundane operating system. There is no intelligence here, sir.", so we must distinguish them.

I find with the same format of "Computer AI" - "Computer SP" (Synthetic Personality) that could be nice, what do you think my friend =)? Itachou [~talk~] 00:06, July 31, 2011 (UTC)

Yes, you're right but I think you should find a designation since I saw some people add "AI" in the infobox for all entities, and the capacity of speaking is anyway... atypical. It's remind me a little the "emotion chip" of Star Trek.
Also, even if they are not AI, they have a personality (even programmed) like the Toaster or the Jukebox. I choice Synthetic Personality because it's mentioned in-game by the SCIU for designed them. Otherwise if it's not good, some other =):
  • "Computer AP" (Automated Personality) - my favorite
  • "Computer PM" (Personality Module)
  • "Computer PS" (Personality Simulation)

Itachou [~talk~] 00:39, July 31, 2011 (UTC)

I go sleep my friend, when you have time give me your answer, I'd like to start adjusting tomorrow if possible =)! Good night and see you soon Ghost! Itachou [~talk~] 01:07, July 31, 2011 (UTC)

In fact I already write a section inspired by the description in-game and your message in my talk page in the computer page and I choice Automated Personality (AP) that fit well with the AI and Synthetic can refers to Synthetic Intelligence - very similar to AI so it can be misleading the separation =). War club mods

While you may or may not be the best person to contact about this, I'd assume you would know who would be: While every other weapon in Fallout: New Vegas has pictures at the bottom of the page of the weapon with its mods attached, along with pictures of the appropriate mod on the mod's corresponding page, the War club and its mods pages lack those. On the War Club page, it simply shows a player holding one with both mods attached, and the mod pages have a picture of an unmodified War club. Furthermore, while this is a different topic, the Sniper rifle (Fallout 3) page has a sound of its firing, like most other weapon pages. However, the firing sound is not correct; last I checked, it was the sound of a silenced sniper rifle from New Vegas. Similar to this, most other weapon pages have the incorrect sound, which, incidentally, are all the same; they all have the firing sound of... I *think* a Marksman carbine, but not all weapons sound like it. Case and point, the Assault carbine page, which has the same sound as what I think is the marksman carbine (A quick, sharp sound with a second of echo) when it should be more of a "submachine gun-esque" shot that has no echo. If you don't understand me, play the sound on the page, then fire the Assault carbine in-game, and you will easily notice the difference. Thank you muchly. --With care and happiness, Supermutantslayer450' You will know the truth... And the truth will set you free.. 01:57, July 31, 2011 (UTC)

  • I'll take a look at it. Can you check out Radiation resistance page? I think there's a mistake in the Fallout 3 math formula. JspoelJspoel Vault Boy.png 16:51, July 31, 2011 (UTC)

New infobox

I could use some feedback for Infobox, and you're my chosen victim :) Particularly, what do you think about the tooltip indicators (visibility etc) and the new icon placement (examples can be found at )?

The CSS for the new infobox is currently only in my wikia.css, so you'd have to copy it over to yours before you can view the template in all its "glory". Would be much appreciated :) -- Porter21 (talk) 17:33, July 31, 2011 (UTC)

Yeah, I see what you mean with the "transparent on transparent" stuff. With the .357 images, I think it's partly because the icon is not optimized for a light background (white/light grey on light yellow/beige background). That aside, it could probably be solved by reducing the default width of the main image for infoboxes where this might be an issue.
There's currently no option for modifying the icon placement. You can apply CSS to the icon though by using the "icon style" parameter (although that's probably only an option for advanced users). I'll think about providing a placement option; currently I'm not sure whether it wouldn't be better to keep the placement consistent site-wide.
Regarding new features, I've got most of them working now :) Collapsible groups, multiple main images side-by-side (with automatically calculated widths), displaying upload buttons for images, multi-column support with customizable widths, size limits for images and icons (icons cannot be bigger than 50px, images cannot be wider than the infobox itself), tooltip support, ability to apply CSS to certain cells/groups/cell types - just to name a few :) Sorry for boasting a bit, guess I've been working too long on this ;) Hopefully I'll be done with it soon. -- Porter21 (talk) 18:42, July 31, 2011 (UTC)
Alright, these are the possible solutions I'm considering:
  1. Provide options to move the image area down by (icon size/2) or (icon size).
  2. Display the icon with a background color and border.
I think moving the main image area to the left might produce an "off-balance" look due to the image being off-center, plus it'd reduce the overall area available for the image(s). Moving the image area down reduces the overlap while not reducing the overall image size, and it avoids the image being off-center. I think moving it by (icon size/2) would probably be sufficient (that would be between 15px and 25px, depending on icon size) while not shifting the image down too much, but not sure yet.
The other option is fairly self-explanatory, I believe. With the right color we could simultaneously take care of possible contrast issues; e.g. with the color used by the labels we could provide a decent contrast for both light and dark icons.
What do you think? -- Porter21 (talk) 13:50, August 1, 2011 (UTC)
I've now added a background color and border to the icon; I think it's better to set it apart from the underlying image (even though a transparent background looked neat in some cases). I've also added an offset option with which the icon can be moved upwards (parameter name is "icon offset"). It's capped at the specified icon height; e.g. if the icon height is 30px, the offset can't be larger than 30px. There's also a special keyword ("@outside") which will set the offset to the specified icon height. -- Porter21 (talk) 22:39, August 1, 2011 (UTC)

Infobox is more or less finished now; the "infocard" mode is not fully implemented and I still want to try out a different approach for the overview page links (display them in a hover menu), but otherwise it should be functional. I've moved the CSS to Common.css now, so it'd better to remove the version in your personal wikia.css to avoid possible conflicts.

If you want to play around with it in my absense, feel free to :) I'm sure there are still quite a few bugs which I haven't discovered yet, so help with bug-hunting would appreciated. I've created some makeshift documentation; I hope it's somewhat understandable. If you have any questions (or find issues), please leave them on my talk page - I'll check by whenever I have time/internet access during my absense and answer them (and try to improve the documentation).

In case you want to test with the current infoboxes, a makeshift conversion of Infobox character can be found in the template's sandbox (as an example of how the current infoboxes have to be converted). Mainly, what has to be done is converting the datarows to content/label/group fields as well as updating the parameter names. As far as I remember, changed parameter names are (old -> new):

  • extra -> footer
  • game1, game2, game3, game4, game5 -> games
  • icon px -> icon size
  • image -> main image1
  • desc -> main images desc
  • px -> main image1 size
  • titlehead -> supertitle
  • titlehead link -> supertitle link

See you in a few weeks :) -- Porter21 (talk) 12:22, August 3, 2011 (UTC)

In fact, I just reput the information which was already here to be able to check later since I don't like some people remove information without any proof of the contrary.

After some check in the GECK with dialogues and notes, Gail Richardson is "just" a Doctor of Philosophy and Test Engineer of the X-8 "Cyberdog Project". Also, he doesn't seem to know Gabe since he don't mentions his name or anything about him - from a notes "accidentally used an audio sample recording of its bark as the object to be fetched. The Cyberdog has now become attached to the sample, and displayed signs of aggressive tendencies when I attempted to recover it" that created the Gabriel's Bark for the sonic emitter.

In contradiction, based on the terminal, Gail Richardson was a kind of leader in the X-8 and the leader of the X-8 is obligated Borous, since the test incorporates his voice and his personnality as principal (and saw his name is already Borous in the test, the test was created after his transformation into a think tank).

Anyway, I more think Borous was Adam Figgis, a Doctor of Medicine, Doctor of Philosophy, Doctor of veterinary medicine, Doctor of Dental Medicine, Doctor of Divinity (MD PhD DVM DDM DD) and Test Supervisor (Supervisor seems to be the leader of a facility. He is also the most graded I seen in terminal in X-8 and since the test voice in X-8 was done by Borous). Also, Adam Figgis in a message in a terminal said "In our last supervisor meeting" so he seems to be important even in Big MT.

Some information about him includes:

  • He really creates the nightstalkers and the cazadores since he also the Head Chief First Researcher of Labs Z-9 and Z-14 (said during the test), the two labs who was created respectively nightstalkers and cazadores.
  • He have the K9000 cyberdog gun and he "lay the bones and hearts of animals bare beneath my searing gaze. Especially the dogs" so he also worked in X-8.

What do you think? Also I think the devs have put all the pre-think tanks name in-game, they need just to found them ;). Itachou [~talk~] 20:46, July 31, 2011 (UTC)

Mister Gutsy

Say Avatar, I'm doing the right thing splitting Mister Gutsy into Mister Gutsy (Fallout 3) and Mister Gutsy (Fallout: New Vegas) right? I'm planning to add Mister Gutsy prototype and Hardened Mister Gutsy to the New Vegas version. JspoelJspoel Vault Boy.png 21:51, August 1, 2011 (UTC)

  • Thanks. I may get back to you while I'm working on this, you're always a trustworthy backup for me when I'm not sure of things. Have you noticed by the way that the achievements have lost a lot of its power? Must have. People don't care too much for it anymore I think. The rankings have more or less settled. Only Itachou has been able to climb the ladder somewhat in the top 20 in the recent weeks. It would be better if we could start from scratch again, with some kind a reward (like a give-away) after 2 months or so. Then start at 0 again. Unfortunately, that's not possible, Ausir already said to me. JspoelJspoel Vault Boy.png 22:12, August 1, 2011 (UTC)

Love and Hate

Hi, I was editing all unarmed weapons earlier this evening to remove melee hacker perks from all the unarmed weapon articles. There is one page the Love and Hate page that is locked down. I was wondering if you can remove the melee hacker perk from the article since that perk doesn't affect the weapon.

But, I didn't do anything. I didn't even Use a "Bad" word. I was not being disrespectful to any other users, I was not being rude in any way, shape, or form. This is the 4th time in 1 day I've possibly been kicked from the chat on the Fallout wiki. I'm guessing I got kicked. It isn't saying. Now, when I try to access chat, There's no comments written, and it won't let me post comments as well.

Please send a user talk thingy back to me. Thank you for your time.

Can I get your input on Talk:Mustang? User:Great_MaraUser talk:Great_Mara 05:10, August 3, 2011 (UTC)

Thank you for your help, and your time.

Can you let the bot replace the Old World Blues link with Old World Blues (add-on)? I think Old World Blues doesn't link to the quest anymore. And change Mister Gutsy to Mister Gutsy (Fallout: New Vegas) on FNV pages, same for FO3. Also for the protectron and sentry bot. When are you planning to let it run? JspoelJspoel Vault Boy.png 23:33, August 3, 2011 (UTC)

  • Does this mean it'll just fix the OWB issue or will it do a total run?

No I didn't!

Ok, now your bot is lying. It said I misspelled brahmin 3 times on the Crimson Caravan Company page! I did not! I just wasn't sure how to uncapitalize links to Caravaneer barracks and Guard barracks (apparently, I don't have to). I forgive it, though (actually, it regurgitated the note from its last edit of the page). -LawdyMissMaudy 01:25, August 4, 2011 (UTC)

that's interesting. And makes more sense than what I thought the bot did, lol.

I had a capitalization question: when describing vault locations, should I or should I not capitalize things like Food Production (Vault 22) or Living Quarters (every vault). They are capitalized in-game, but are kind of generic, so I've been wondering. Oh, also Overseer...that's capitalized a lot here, but isn't it pretty much like mayor -- it's Mayor Brown, but the mayor's office. -LawdyMissMaudy 01:45, August 4, 2011 (UTC)

Ok, thanks. Heading to bed now, but will work on uncapitalizing vault pages tomorrow. Maybe I could borrow your bot? -LawdyMissMaudy 01:59, August 4, 2011 (UTC)

Hello my friend ;)

Who has chosen this policy? Since it's false, a character is the representation of a human being or similar entities that has certain capacities or attributes associated with personhood (like self-awareness, a notion of the past and future and the possession of rights and duties). I don't see any capacities or attributes of human being in ED-E or in any other computers and robots that are not AI. Itachou [~talk~] 20:27, August 4, 2011 (UTC)

Haha you're too fast for me Ghost =), I just finished the edits just about 3 minutes! I was going to do, it's me that was implement them on the Alien (FO3) and Alien (FNV) pages ;).

Anyway, thank you for doing that ;)! Itachou [~talk~] 21:36, August 4, 2011 (UTC)

My schematics page?

Hi Ghost, on Sunday I got a message about your edit, and thought there might be something wrong with how I had phrased the link... the page it pointed to was there, shrug. So I fixed the link on my Talk page (it worked fine in a Preview), but when I posted the edit, the link was red again... confused, I went to the page in question, and saw you had just moved it. I figured you were just reorganizing or whatever - no problem - and I'd give it a day or three. But now that I'm checking back, I can't find my price-to-weight ratio page for schematics anywhere; not in the Move log or the Deletion log. Am I missing something? Did the page become obsolete somehow?? (I haven't revisited the wiki in ages.)

Totally my fault, but I can't wait three days

It's actually User:Ae jarv, and I admit it was a stupid mistake of mine and a small misunderstanding from your side. I'm talking of the 12.7mm pistol article. I was basing my custom userpage-based 'nothing-else-to-do' weapon article off it, but I mixed up the tabs in the browser, and apparently I copied them the wrong way around. I went to history to undo the change immediately as I realised it (which was pretty fast), but as I hit undo button I see it's already been done by you and my account has been banned for three days. I know that's not really a lot of time, but the message still assumed I should contact an admin, which I am doing now. I know it's entirely my fault, but I in no way meant to do such a thing and I am seeking to be a valuable contributor, not a vandal or anything like that. (edit: And I learned my lesson to look at the tabs I edit beforehand) Andrew1294 01:50, August 5, 2011 (UTC)

Is there any way I could get a chat log bot on The Vault Armory? Obviously minor edits aren't needed there. And yeah, we're making some progress on the armory. Links on my user page if you want to check it out. --Valoopy sig.jpg ☢Valoopy☣ 08:12, August 5, 2011 (UTC)

These two were heavily vandalising YakovFrolov's userpage. Please take care of them. Thanks. Yes Man default.png 10:04, August 5, 2011 (UTC)
