Detailed change[edit source]

If you want to leave a message on what you changed, you can do so on the edit summary bar at the bottom of the screen, below the place you have written. If it's too long to explain in one or to sentence, you can put it on the talk page, and them put "See talk page" in the edit summary. --Kastera (talk) 22:16, July 24, 2011 (UTC)[edit source]

What do you mean "most of them"? There were only 3 and I reverted them all. --Kastera (talk) 07:04, July 25, 2011 (UTC)

Oh, you're on FalloutAnswers? Good to know another person is helping out. You know how to make nominate page for deletion right? That would be really helpful.

Deletion/Merge[edit source]

To nominate a page for deletion, all you have to do is put {{delete|your reason}} at the top of the page.

Nominating a page for merging is very similar; all you have to do is put {{merge|your reason}} at the top of the page. Kastera (talk)

It works for any page hosted by Wikia, so yes, it works on FalloutAnswers.

Oh My Papa quest[edit source]

I didn't remove it because you didn't remove it, I assumed it was still work in progress. The best way to do a multiple option quest page is something like I did in Climb Ev'ry Mountain, but that does take know how on the mark up. As with the intro sections, the legion part can be ditched as it isn't related to this quest. The NCR and Yes Man section can be used as lead sentences in the quick walk through section, before numbering objectives (or flow chart if you feel up to it) User:AvatarUser talk:Avatar 21:10, July 26, 2011 (UTC)

Looks a lot better now, done a few tidy up bits as well. As for the tag, that one doesn't require a admin to remove as it is a editorial note. User:AvatarUser talk:Avatar 22:02, July 26, 2011 (UTC)

Implants trivia[edit source]

That bit has been removed multiple times due to the commonality and lack of developer input. You could try asking JE Sawyer on Twitter or on he Bethesda forums but without a citation most everyone around here will nix it. User:Great_MaraUser talk:Great_Mara 04:32, August 1, 2011 (UTC)

HE DID WHAT?![edit source]

He... just... he just walked into Megaton ... and killed... EVERYONE?!
Why would ANYONE... why.. I.. I don't. under... OW, my friggin' head!!
Anyway, yes, we were still talking about gaming. ^_^

hmm[edit source]

To be fair... I *HAVE* wondered as of late just what would happen to the story if I went around and depopulated the Mojave or Capital Wasteland. --The Arcadian Rook(talk)User blog: Arcadian Rook|(Needs More Battle Cattle) 19:59, August 3, 2011 (UTC)

Dont worry about it[edit source]

It uses the Wikipedia common spelling errors fixes (which one of them is to cap brahmin). So I have add a line that then overrides that and then decap it in the same instance. Hence why it says it decapped it (because it also capped it on the same run) when it looks like it actually did nothing. User:AvatarUser talk:Avatar 01:39, August 4, 2011 (UTC)

We don't use in-game capitalisation on the wiki. Them issue stems from casual editors who use in-game caps and don't know are policy. So yeah, overseer uses the same rules as any other title in the real world. Same also applies to generic descriptive names, unless it is a proper noun. User:AvatarUser talk:Avatar 01:54, August 4, 2011 (UTC)

Hmm... I dunno about that[edit source]

It's actually far less about the actual killing of things, which would frankly just become boring and frustrating chore very quickly. For me it's more about testing to see what the developers prepared for.
I've yet to find a game more influenced by the players' choices than Star Ocean: Second Story, and that was a PS1 game by Enix, with 80 (+/- 3) different endings all based on the characters' emotional values for each other (also characters that learned to paint, write and publish, craft, forge, etc etc etc, but that's all beside this point.) The point being that SO2 was the first game that felt that I was really playing a role-playing game, a PnP RPG if you will.

Now that groups like Bethesda, Obsidian, etc are making games that are so expansive in literal size and with choices that affect the outcome of the story, I want to see just how fully they have fleshed out their contingencies, how prepared they were for a player that decides that none of the obviously presented choices are what they want and nothing tests that more thoroughly than what I've mentioned.

Do I want to depopulate the Mojave? Not really. That would take an absurdly long time and I likely wouldn't get my fix of story.

I need my fix. I need my fix like Emily needs her Teddy Bears. Sweet fluffy Teddy Bears... that I might have encouraged her to "protect" via waging a bloody war against the Communists and their Gnome Affiliates across Mojave and Capital Wastelands. Because Communists hate Teddy Bears and all uncovered evidence points to the Gnomes hating them too. I'm not even making that part up.

BTW, I'm usually in the chat most you want to discuss this or anything else, either in the main chat or through PMs.

Replies Happen![edit source]

Turns out that most of the 'important' NPCs in FO3 are unkillable. In FO:NV, however, only children NPCs are unkillable, I've been told they simply get knocked down. Technically, Yes Man (for whom I have no polite descriptors) is also unkillable.
This actually brings up a very strange moral issue: We have it established by FO3 that the programers, writers, producers (or whomever signs off on this sort of thing) are completely okay with the Player enslaving children. To make matters more vile, in my mind, is that Bumble, the child first offered up for this treatment, is the youngest, most innocent of all the Little Lamplighters. Perhaps she's the last of the children who can be enslaved in FO3,I never took the opportunity to find out, instead giving a very final greeting to the slaver who showed up outside of Lil Lamplight.
So it's okay to rend the life of a child most secure in her innocence, but not to kill them. Frankly I believe that seems far more twisted. Yes, I understand the argument that there's always hope, yadda yadda, and heck, that's an even argument and outlook on life that I hold dear.
But there wasn't. Not there. The damage will be done. I mean just... I find it hard to reconcile in my head that it wouldn't be kinder to put a bullet in Bumble's head than to feed her to Eulogy Jones.
As for Arcade... yeah... just holy crap, he gets a raw deal all around. Seemingly the best ending for him is to just leave him out of the fight completely.

25% Repair?[edit source]

Hello my friend ;)

Well in fact, Fallout, Fallout 2 and Fallout Tactics used % for the skill so I think it's better to also used this format for all games, allowing a better consistency with other games and centralization on the Vault. Itachou [~talk~] 23:09, August 7, 2011 (UTC)

Well I think it's not very important that requesting a discussion on the forum and needing a proper policy on the Vault =). It's often players starting Fallout with FO3 and FNV who don't write the percentages so often on the FO3 and FNV pages, the percentages are not used, but it's not really a major problem, me and some FO1, FO2, FOT prefer just because it was like that from the beginning and create a better consistency with other games but in fact, it's the same, just shorter and more direct ;). If I see one I fix it but it is not a priority.
Greater input work only in news, most people doesn't read the guidelines and show policies instored in the forum (the capitalization of no proper name during all DLC is a proof).
Ho yes, I take a look of the forum sometimes (just at the wiki discussion) so don't worry, if you write something for improve the Vault, I will read it =)! Nice evening and see you soon Maudy! Itachou [~talk~] 23:29, August 7, 2011 (UTC)

Hologram emitter[edit source]

I have the image from the GECK editor, a tool only available for PC users. In the GECK there's just the object, nothing else around it; perfect for making a transparant image. With the image I also added the baseid. JspoelJspoel Vault Boy.png 23:54, August 7, 2011 (UTC)

terminal entries[edit source]

Preferable, it would be best to link to them in the page content, especially if there is a section that directly mentions them or there contents. This would be best done as a referance (see laser pistol as an example, referancing the Citadel terminal entries). If that is not possible, then simple add them as a see also section, as per layout guidelines. User:AvatarUser talk:Avatar 19:15, August 8, 2011 (UTC)

Sierra Madre chip page[edit source]

Thanks. Sometimes it's worth being brave and completely rewriting a page in a consistent way. I've found I get more positive feedback than negative, so it seems to be appreciated.

I haven't been back to the Abandoned BoS Bunker in a while, so I can't remember if the dropbox refreshes every day or every three days. My recollection is every day, but I haven't tested it, so I didn't correct the page even though it's inconsistent. If I get some time to play FNV before Lonesome Road comes out, I'll test it. --Actreal 01:57, August 9, 2011 (UTC)

Re: Holograms[edit source]

Sweeeeeeeeeets and Yes, please! Also: New Blog Postings!
I'm a sick, sick man. I know it, you know it, we all know it. And I'm only occasionally apologetic about it.

Fallout's current availability.[edit source]

The game's current availability is perfectly necessary to have on the page. Having it on there won't hurt anyone and there are many people who have only played New Vegas or 3 that may be interested in buying the original. Best regards, The almighty one

Vault 13[edit source]

Hello Maudy ;)

Wow you have remove a large part of the background information and some valuable information like doctor in the infobox of Vault 13. Can I know why? Itachou [~talk~] 01:00, August 13, 2011 (UTC)

All location if they have doctor (like Arroyo or for vaults like Vault 101 for exemple) need to be put in the infobox of the page. If they have no doctor, the field need to be empty that's all =).
In fact, it's me that write almost entirely the Vault 13 page and all text in the page are about Vault 13, like the broken water chip, the Guardian of Forever, the two other Vault 13 dwellers outside in the wasteland before the Vault Dweller. Vault page need to have the most descriptive of all event had happened and concerned by the vault (even the smallest, this is a background section we must be as specific as possible with all information available), not just a brief description of it. See example on Arroyo, Vault 101 or Vault 77. And also, it's the same for all pages not just vaults page, the Vault is a library, we need to have all possible events in all pages, background section is made for that.
Ho also, like me Ausir is agreed to let the information about the vault experience on the two pages (Vault-Tec and Vault), but I see you have reput the information in Vault-Tec Industries page. Well, I revert your edit on Vault 13. You act too fast at the moment on some very important things in the Vault, please wait to receive more opinion about the thing to do or ask an admin. Also, avoid to change the construction of a text (just correct grammar), the meaning can be changed (especially on something you don't know) or the author may also not enjoy so much. Sorry, sincerely nothing personal my friend, it's just a note for explain you how things are here. Have a nice day and see you around Maudy =)! Itachou [~talk~] 12:51, August 13, 2011 (UTC)

You have act just after a "suggestion" was put in the forum, not even at least one reply but just a suggestion. Suggestion even made by Ausir need at least 5-6 contributors and at least 1-2 admins to see the pros and cons.

Vault 13, without the grammar, it's almost perfect with all details needed. If you want to correct the grammar you can, if you want to remove information or something, no. Also, I see on the Vault 13 page that you have remove "covering 3200000 tons of soil at 200 feet" just because you "couldn't make sense of it". It's not just because you do not understand something that is necessary to remove. Like I said, you act to pragmaticaly and it is not good here and truly the next blunder will not be taken lightly. Sorry but it's your fault, be lighter, since you are new on wiki, ask before act or for something you don't understand or you need some information, it's not a shame and I will be happy to help you.

Ho also, have you take a look of Arroyo, Vault 101 or Vault 77 to see some other examples?

Nice evening Maudy and see you around ;)! Itachou [~talk~] 22:42, August 13, 2011 (UTC)

Haha no problem ;). Well in fact, the guidelines not say that we can't write all information in background section even if it gives a large text, as it relates to article in question. Also, sub-sections for large background sections are made for soften the text =) (in fact, it's Ausir that instored sub-sections for large background sections). Itachou [~talk~] 23:56, August 13, 2011 (UTC)

BOO!!![edit source]

Your Sister (no, not a set-up to a joke... This time.)[edit source]

You mentioned that your sister edits on the Resident Evil wiki. Do you know if she plays, or has played, RE 5 Gold (or non-gold, I suppose). I'm asking because I'm looking to improve my rank on the PSN leader boards for RE5 and I'm looking for some advice. I've seen YouTube videos where users pull some sort of move that involves raising your weapon into (or at least towards) a firing position to turn much more quickly than one would normally be able to and I *REALLY* would like to know how to do that. If you could either relay that question, ask her if it's okay to give me her user name or to just give her mine and I'll ask her, that would be friggin' great.

Also, when should punctuation be inside a set of closed parentheses and when, if ever, should they should they be outside? I've never been quite sure of that rule and the fact that I don't know bugs the hell out of me. Guh, I've really got to get my hands on a copy of Eats, Shoots and Leaves.

-- The Arcadian Rook(talk)User blog: Arcadian Rook|(Needs More Battle Cattle) 21:50, August 25, 2011 (UTC)

Well that's utterly useless to me! Inform her that she must change at once and post-haste! -- The Arcadian Rook(talk)User blog: Arcadian Rook|(Needs More Battle Cattle) 13:56, August 27, 2011 (UTC)
Pfffft... RE 5 isn't scary (and the other titles only really border on spooky). It's got moments that'll make you jump in surprise, but that's about it. When I want something scary, I pullout Silent Hill, those games make me dislike the dark, plus a lot of it is psychological terror/horror. BTW, you should totally dd a link to your talk page into your sig ^_^ -- The Arcadian Rook(talk)User blog: Arcadian Rook|(Needs More Battle Cattle) 04:20, August 28, 2011 (UTC)

well, the test worked, though you may want to check out the coding for my sig and the sigs of others to customize it further. -- The Arcadian Rook(talk)User blog: Arcadian Rook|(Needs More Battle Cattle) 16:42, August 29, 2011 (UTC)

Grammar Question: Semicolon Usage.[edit source]

Here's something that's always confused me: when is it appropriate to use a semicolon and in which cases should one instead use a colon, comma or simply start a new sentence?

I've looked online to try to answer this question, but I've had difficultly in finding something which has given me a really good explanation and understanding. Going to be doing a lot of writing this semester with three English courses on board and I'd really like to get things right.
