Heyooooooo! As the title of this discussion states, I'm Tocinoman, and I'm applying for moderatorship. For those of you who don't know me, I've happily been a patroller for about a month on this wiki, and have been active since before that as well. So far, I've made pretty close to 600 article edits, and I give it my 100% when fighting back against trolls and vandalism on both the chat and throughout the wiki.

I am applying for moderator a little bit sooner than I expected I would, but there have been too many occurences when someone was acting out/breaking rules in the chat and there was no mod/admin to take care of it, and Yessie pointed out to me that we only have 3 active moderators. Sometimes when I and other users try to explain the rules to a new user or tell someone that they are breaking the rules, they simply blow myself and the others off and do as they please. After an admin or mod joins, they either leave or immediately change their attitude, and are off the hook. Should I be promoted to moderator, I will do everything in my power to put a stop to that. During the times that I am on the chat, there is almost never an admin/mod continuously logged onto the chat.

• Patrolling the Recent Changes for bad edits
• Reverting vandalism and reporting trolls
• Adding any information that is missing or needs to be mentioned to pages

I always try to be helpful wherever I can, be it helping Garoux eliminate speculation, interpreting the rules with Sigma, helping anons/new users with any questions or problems that they have, working very actively on the Bug Verification Project with Hawk and Limmie, and just trying to keep my peers in an overall happy mood! Just promise me one thing Toc, you'll be in chat in the hours you stated because I check the wiki at that sort of time for vandals and I've never seen you in chat to the best of my knowledge. HawK, Lim and yourself have done unbelievably good work on the bug project. I've seen you often reviewing recent changes, reverting vandalism, and it is true that you are frequently in chat when there is a lack of coverage. You're trustworthy, kind and fair, and you know the rules of the Wiki better than many. You've already proven that you use your patroller rights very effectively, so I'm sure you'll use any additional rights to the extent of their usefulness. What's lacking here is your expected schedule. The issue presented in DB's request wasn't about having too many mods, but about having too many mods on the same timezone, so I think it's essential to know when you're expected to be found in chat. Limmiegirl ^{Talk! ♪} 08:53, March 13, 2012 (UTC)

Ah! Thank you for pointing that out, Limmie! It seems I forgot to mention my time slot. I am consistently on from around 7:30 pm to 2:30 am US Central time which is (if my memory serves me right) most of the time slot that is vacated on Agent C's chart. Stats

Me again. The way I see it, this Wiki gets hundreds of new users a day, even more Anonymous editors, and if I'm reading my admin dashboard correctly, we have almost 25,000 registered users on this wiki. 22 of these users have additional rights. Only four are chat mods, and three are fully-fledged moderators. I don't think there's an issue of "too many mods". I know for a fact that there are ten chat moderators alone on the Call of Duty Wiki. That's more than our chat mods and regular mods combined. Very, very rarely do we get a user who is mod material. And my instinct tells me that Tocino would make a brilliant moderator, and with enough time, even a great admin. With JASPER42's unexplained hiatus, for which none of us know how long he'll be gone (or if he'll return at all), I would consider Tocinoman's promotion to Moderator as filling in for Jasp's absence. We used to have more than four mods in the past; I don't see why it wouldn't work now. Thanks,

Hundreds is a slight exaggeration. :P I get an e-mail for every new user, and we typically only get around 8-12 new members a day. I do agree that we have more room for mods though. The only reason I didn't vote for Dragon is because someone else did the talking for him. But now that Butterfly and Jasper are gone, we could use a couple more people to step in to fill the empty shoes left behind. ^Skål! 08:01, March 13, 2012 (UTC)

My standards for leadership positions here have been raised now that we have more mods and admins. With that said, Toc is one of only two people on the wiki that I personally believe fulfill what I consider the proper maturity, decorum, decisiveness, fairness and character to be promoted to Full Moderator. Please remember, ladies and gentlemen, that the Full Moderator position is now a requirement for application as Administrator.

“The minimum requirements for becoming an administrator are:

• You have made at least 1000 edits in the article, category or template namespace (i.e. talk page, blog and forum contributions do not count).
• You have been continuously active at this wiki for at least three months.
• You have not made a failed administrator request in the past two months. This does not include requests which were closed because you did not meet the formal requirements.
• You have held the position of moderator for a minimum of two months.”

Since I see the Full Moderator position as the launching pad for future Admins, I don't believe an applicant's merit as a chat moderator is the only or driving factor that should be used to determine their qualifications. Tocinoman has shown me he meets those qualifications, including, but not exclusive of, his usefulness in moderating chat. The Gunny 19:45, March 13, 2012 (UTC)

Of course they are. Everyone who's applied for mod has been put over the grill on their chat habits, so he'd be remiss not to address that issue. I'm just making sure everyone knows that it's not just a chat job and is a requirement for admin at this time. The Gunny 01:14, March 14, 2012 (UTC)
