Fellow Editor seeking account transfer help[]

Hello! sorry to bother you but I too have tried to use the account transfer tool to move my user account to the new Fallout wiki but i ran into the same trouble that CreedOfHeresy (who is now The Enigma) ran into. I was hoping you could also help me out too and i have created my new user account BattleBen8492 as the first step.--BattleBen 04:10, January 5, 2012 (UTC)

The account migration tool didn't work for me either. I created a new account named jimnms-temp. --jimnms 22:58, February 13, 2012 (UTC)

YT[]

Thanks for clarifying that point! I think it was Ci who told me it was you who disabled it, and I wasn't able to find any logs over the whole matter so that's why I used your name. I hope you didn't see that as an accusation, I wasn't trying to throw you in a bad light at all. I was just using that as an example that not everything around here needs community consensus and how this went on long before the split. Although now I understand that this wasn't even a decision that was made here, but by the Wikia staff instead. Sorry for my ignorance on that particular subject, it was in no way meant to condemn you. Dragon Skål! 01:02, March 8, 2012 (UTC)

I wouldn't have even considered that a bad thing even if you were the one who disabled it. :P Music on the talk-pages was vastly annoying, especially when listening to the first few seconds over and over again after leaving multiple messages. I appreciate your opinion though and I apologize that you had to come here and explain yourself in the first place. I definitely wasn't intending to drag anybody else into this whole mess. Mbox management template[]

Hey Porter, how are things? Hope fine. Say, I have a request which I hope you will consider to help us with. I noticed you overhauled the attention required categories on The Vault and I'd like to have part of that here too. Especially where you now can add a game abbreviation behind the pipe in a template, which then creates the appropriate category. Like {{image needed|FNV}} creates the Image needed (Fallout: New Vegas) category. Or {{Infobox incomplete|FNV}} creates the Infobox incomplete (Fallout: New Vegas) category. At the moment we use the {{tl|image}} template which is kind of restricted in its possiblities. I've made an attempt with importing your image needed template to here and a few other templates along with it a few days ago. Also imported the {{Mbox management}} template. I tried it out with a few pages (Angela (Van Buren) and it created the proper game category, but the color of the messagebox is not right. It should be yellow, but it's the standard color, grey. I think I've missed a few things, like maybe another tempate (maybe your mbox template?) and some Common.css coding. I've noticed in yours you have sections for these templates. I understand your position of course at The Vault, but I thought I could always ask. Hope you're willing to be of some assistance to us. Jspoel Speech Jspoel 19:22, April 26, 2012 (UTC)

Mediawiki 1.19[]

Hi Porter, I have a request. Yesterday we've been upgraded from Mediawiki 1.16 to 1.19 and we're experiencing some problems. You can read about it here. Would you be willing to take a look at the recent changes script? It's causing the most problems at the moment, like edits on the same page not collapsing. And after the upgrade I noticed some new red links to Help-pages we don't have but The Vault does (like Help:Categories). Would you mind if we copy missing help pages to Nukapedia? Btw, I tried to post this message as an anon on The Vault, but it didn't allow me to save the message, so that's why I'm posting it here again. Jspoel Speech Jspoel 22:08, July 3, 2012 (UTC)

Thanks for the quick reply. Can you also change the Wiki Activity button in the top right corner of the screen so that it leads to Recent Changes instead of Wiki Activity? That's how it was before the upgrade and I'd like that reinstated. And I noticed some strange gibberish to the right of Hide my edits in Recent Changes: <r> Do you know what causes it? AjaxRC[]

Hi, sorry to contact you here, but I cannot leave a message to you as anon on Vault and it seems you are still accessing to Wikia. My wiki has been recently upgraded to version 1.19, and Wikia Dev's Ajax RC was creating some problems, so an user told me that on fallout wiki you were using a compatible version. I copied it but it doesn't seem to be loading, can you see some error in what I used? (Keep in mind that it's an Italian Wiki). Thank you. leviathan_89 21:56, July 10, 2012 (UTC)

Hey buddy, we are creating the Turkish Fallout Wikia and we are using your wikia's codes. And I was trying to add Directionbox, I stopped. Because you protected this. So, I can not see the codes and I can not add the codes. Can you give the codes to me or can you don't protect this codes for a little time. If you do this, we will be grateful.

here is the link of Directionbox. Thank you for now.

Inactivity[]

Hi Porter, how's it going? Hope all is well. Appears you are busy in real life, I haven't seen you in more than a year over at The Vault or here. I was planning to contact you by email, but you have it disabled. So it'll have to be your talkpage in the hope you read it. Lot of things have changed here in past 2 years, one of them we implemented an added user rights inactivity policy. At the time around the split we had +40 admins I think of which many were inactive for several months or even (over) a year. We felt we had to take a look at that, also to give new and active users a better opportunity to advance. We made you and Ausir excempt from that policy because of your unique roles. But time has passed and the community felt the admin rights you have at the moment need reconfirmation. It's close to 1,5 year now you are what we would call inactive. You can read the reconfirmationthread here and the new policy here. I still hope we'll see you back one day and join and work for our great community. It's been quiet on the game front but we're still doing well and are looking forward to the next game. My question is, do you want to keep your rights, or are you ok we remove them? I hope you don't see it as unthankful, we are, it's just that people feel we need to apply policy for everyone equally. If you should return, you'd get your rights back soon enough for sure. If you can let us know what you think, that would be great. Jspoel Speech Jspoel 21:35, January 13, 2014 (UTC)

I'd really like to see you come back Porter.... I think we all would. You helped shape this place (even it it was the Vault then) and have been an invaluable asset to the Fallout Community at large. In any case, thanks a lot for everything you've done...and I hope you come home soon. Agent c (talk) 23:28, January 13, 2014 (UTC)
I share the sentiment expressed above. Nukapedia is a lesser place without you, and whether you decide to return, stay at The Vault, or just remain off-wiki, I would like you to know that I've always appreciated and valued your work and professionalism, and I only wish you the best wherever your travels take you next. Unfortunately, the community voted against an exemption to the policy. I'm gonna go ahead and un-click the box. Whenever you see these messages I'm sure you'll understand. Policy is policy. As the folks above have said, your contributions were immense and much appreciated. If you ever find you way back around these parts, there's plenty of folks to welcome you back. The Gunny  UserGunny chevrons 00:49, January 26, 2014 (UTC)
No hard feelings I hope, it's just an administrative thing. Sure like to see you back one day! Jspoel Speech Jspoel 00:53, January 26, 2014 (UTC)
