How come i never got the welcome to the vault thing? - Bar27262 04:51, 20 May 2009 (UTC)

I appreciate you filling in images for unmarked location articles that I've been working on. Out of curiosity, what are your feelings on what the criteria should be for pages based on unmarked locations? Mr. Sully 06:44, 19 May 2009 (UTC)

Picture editing

Thanks for your quick work editing the image I put up, much appreciated.

This is my first wiki I'm contributing to, and I appreciate someone helping me out.

Thanks for the tips! Anything specific out there that needs attention or expansion, drop me a line Mctaff350 12:10, 19 May 2009 (UTC)

Mothership Zeta

Could you add a link to the DLC page under "Falout3", "Fallout 3 DLC" in the wiki's sidebar? The "Point Look" link should be changed to "Point Lookout" too, since that is the official name. I'be got no idea how to do that myself. --Sentinel 101 17:30, 19 May 2009 (UTC)

DLC disambiguation

I've seen that you made Point Lookout (location) and the DLC info is at Point Lookout. However, with The Pitt it's the other way around, with The Pitt being about the DLC and The Pitt about the location. Shouldn't we use the same standard for all three (including Mothership Zeta)? I personally prefer the location to take precedence, as I'm more of a lore person. What do you think? Ausir 17:56, 19 May 2009 (UTC)

Hmm, I think that it'll be best to set up disambig pages as a compromise, even if they make linking to the actual content a bit more annoying. Ausir 19:53, 19 May 2009 (UTC)

Template:FO3 creature stats‎‎

Well, I think that e.g. for creatures that appear in both FO1/2 and in FO3 it's better to have similar templates in the FO1/2 section and in the FO3 section, rather than having FO1/2 stats in this kind of template and the FO3 stats in the infobox. Ausir 10:30, 21 May 2009 (UTC)

Kill the overseer!

Can you fire up the bot, go through the wiki and delink "Kill the overseer!"? It's annoying to see it in the Special:WantedPages all the time. http://images2.wikia.nocookie.net/fallout/images/thumb/5/5c/Scribe.jpg/15px-Scribe.jpg Tagaziel (call!) 10:32, 21 May 2009 (UTC)

Sorry to bug you (again). I wanted to make two changes to the Fallout Tactics weapons template. Can I just edit Template:Navbox weapons FOT and that's how it'll show up on all of the existing weapon pages with that category on 'em? Mr. Sully 05:12, 22 May 2009 (UTC)

Thanks again! I went ahead and made the changes and also added an explanation on the template talk page, just in case. Also, I noticed that the Community Portal's top "priority" for FOT is the creation of Weapons and Ammo pages. I think they've all been taken care of at this point, incomplete as they may be. Mr. Sully 07:29, 22 May 2009 (UTC)

Easy to use collapsible box

Hey P., do you remember what's the code for a nice collapsible box inside the text? Sierra_Army_Depot#Loot is an example of what I'd like to put in a collapsible frame, so that it won't force users to scroll through the entire length of the list. Thanks in advance. http://images2.wikia.nocookie.net/fallout/images/thumb/5/5c/Scribe.jpg/15px-Scribe.jpg Tagaziel (call!) 08:12, 22 May 2009 (UTC)

Coding in an upload category selection

Is it possible to add a drop down menu to the upload file menu, that'd allow easy access to the most commonly used categories? That Furry Bastard 13:00, 22 May 2009 (UTC)

A shame. Well, to our benefit, we have you, the awesome guy :] That Furry Bastard 13:43, 22 May 2009 (UTC)

Unmarked Quests

I was wondering if you had an idea for a (clever) name for the Shalebridge Ant quest. I just noticed it's never been listed as an Fallout 3 Unmarked Quest and it's one of the very few the Wiki is missing. -- JazzX Talk 02:11, 23 May 2009 (UTC)

Thanks for the suggestion. I'll see if I can "spice it up" a little :D Since I know the Unmarked Quests were your baby what do you think about adding the encounters with Torcher and The Roach King? -- JazzX Talk 01:52, 25 May 2009 (UTC)
Okay, cool. I generally felt the same way, but was wavering because High Plains Drifter was listed. Obviously you get something a little more special from him, but I was having trouble reconciling the differences that late at night. -- JazzX Talk 13:07, 25 May 2009 (UTC)

Going through requested articles

There are a stack that are obviously Fallout 3.

I have the "create" pages up, but have not actually created them.
How can we find whatever is trying to link to them so we can edit it out (i.e. where is create request coming from)?
Once I've fixed the incorrect link how do we remove the requests? --Mctaff350 13:45, 23 May 2009 (UTC)

Ah, so I have to create the pages so we can track them back? I simply went to the Wanted pages to check and see if there were any needed creating. Almost all of them seem redundant, you see, so I want to remove the request to "want" them, and make sure there were no links pointing to the requested page still. --Mctaff350 14:41, 23 May 2009 (UTC)

Edit to add: If I do create them, what tag should I put in the body so they are marked for review for deletion later? --Mctaff350 14:50, 23 May 2009 (UTC)

I couldn't find the "what links to this page" until I create done, but I found this page which seems to be the source of much of it -> http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/User:Mirar/Chars and there appears to be more of the same lists attached to this user. I don't know if this user is active or not.--Mctaff350 01:02, 24 May 2009 (UTC)

Edited out a bunch of errant links. I was creating article to backtrack, marking them for deletion, but since found when you go to the "preview" page I could see the "find links to this page" link.

Many come from the user Mirar, and some came from other user pages. I think Mirar was data-mining and that's how he got slightly different tags. Anyway, did the best that I could. There were also a few in the Fallout 3 FAQ which I fixed up.

I hope I didn't cause too much headache with all the created articles for deletion. --Mctaff350 02:54, 24 May 2009 (UTC)

Yeah - gotcha. Thought they might be data mined. (Trust a noob like me to go and start stuffing things up like that.) From now on I'll create the pages and put in a stub tag with some remarks. I'll go and revert my changes to his list.

Ok, I have reverted the changes and added placeholder pages with redirects in them. If there is anything else I should put in those placeholder pages, let me know. --Mctaff350 06:42, 24 May 2009 (UTC)

Awesome, thanks for all the pointers. I'm new at this, but on the occaisional day like today when I have nothing to do, I'll work at it. If I ever get off the damn laptop and get onto my proper PC I'd be a lot better at it (the laptop isn't very good for this stuff). Certainly not intimidated, I'm very pleased I'm getting tutorial on this stuff. Thanks so much for the help. -Mctaff350 08:55, 24 May 2009 (UTC)

please undo the vault emergency signal edit

this is the second time i'm talking about this now. but all i'm trying to say is that it isnt the distress signal, it has a different name, and thats why i thought it required a separate article.

  • When does this "emergency signal" happen. i know the distress signal happens on trouble on the homefront quest. When does the emergency signal take place. Also please sign your posts.--Kingclyde 19:49, 8 June 2009 (UTC)
  • Porter, its not in the english version of Broken steel, just to clarify. By the way, which version do you use? Fat Man Spoon 19:55, 8 June 2009 (UTC)
EU version. -- Porter21 (talk) 20:02, 8 June 2009 (UTC)
  • English PC version--Kingclyde 19:57, 8 June 2009 (UTC)

I use the American 360 version, and to porter21, I'm not saying it's new, i'm just saying it's different.--[User:mebadatbball|mebadatbball]]

And I'm saying even if it is different (and to reiterate this for the about 10th time, there are no new radio signals added in Broken Steel) it is not significant enough to warrant an own article. -- Porter21 (talk) 13:55, 9 June 2009 (UTC)
I seem to recall that this signal pops up when you're at Adams Air Force Base. Going by the GECK, there are no new signals in Broken Steel, at least not in my language version (radio signals can be found under "Talking Activators". Hence I still believe it's the distress signal (even if it might have a different name), it's simply most plausible for this and two other reasons: It's only static (the signal is scripted to only transmit its content during the quest) and technically you're somewhere in the vicinity of Springvale on the world map while at AAFB (which fits with the signal range). -- Porter21 (talk) 19:59, 8 June 2009 (UTC)
Thinking about it, I'm not even sure whether you receive a notification about a new radio signal. It's possible it's simply there when looking at the PipBoy at AAFB. -- Porter21 (talk) 20:02, 8 June 2009 (UTC)
I tell a lie. It is there when mooching around Springvale. Fat Man Spoon 20:06, 8 June 2009 (UTC)
Well, just to clarify, the dispute is not about whether it's there (I'm not disputing that), more whether 1) it's different from the V101 distress signal and 2) whether it warrants having its own article. Personally, I think it's just some bug with the distress signal. -- Porter21 (talk) 20:19, 8 June 2009 (UTC)
It's named differently, so it's a different signal. Maybe it was the origanal Distress signal by they renamed it, but forgot to take it out. Is it present anywhere in the GECK? Maybe a broken condition. Fat Man Spoon 20:25, 8 June 2009 (UTC)
Well, as I already said, there are no new signals in Broken Steel going by the GECK. Radio signals can be found under "Talking Activators", there are 5 new ones of those: one unused, one is Stiggs talking over some "console interface monitor" (might have been cut as well, haven't investigated further), one is Liberty Prime's broken head, one is MARGOT and one is the PA system of the Presidential Metro. To be honest, I don't see what the big issue is, the bloody signal only broadcasts static anyway and I'm not gonna check every single new entry in the data files to see where that bug is originating from. -- Porter21 (talk) 20:34, 8 June 2009 (UTC)
Keep the page deleted then. Fat Man Spoon 20:36, 8 June 2009 (UTC)

Unsigned comments

Hi there, I was wondering if Wikia has the function to add the "the preceding comment was written by [IP Adress]" tag on Talk pages, like on Wikipedia. I've looked throught the editing guides and can't seem to find anything about it. Do you know if this function is availible and if so, how to use it? Thanks, TheREALBloodscar 16:09, 3 June 2009 (UTC)

You use {{unsigned|IPADDRESS}} where "IPADDRESS" is the IP or username of the poster. Omitting the |IPADDRESS}} kind of defeats the purpose but if you do not want to find the user's name/IP address, yeah, you can just do that. -- 01:23, 5 June 2009 (UTC)

Fallout 3 downloadable content rename?

Given that they're not only downloadable anymore, but also available in disc version, do you think we should move this page to "Fallout 3 add-ons" and update other pages accordingly? The retail version is called "game add-on packs", so both "DLC" and "add-on" are officially used, but "add-on" is more universal. Ausir 01:53, 4 June 2009 (UTC)

I changed the Template:Navbox add-ons FO3 header to "Fallout 3 bonus content". Ausir 07:04, 4 June 2009 (UTC)

Hey brou

PorterBot's running in the forums, adding {{unsigned}}s. Did you mean for it to run in Forum: namespaces?? I ask because it's bringing month-old topics up to the top in the forum index. :') -- 01:24, 5 June 2009 (UTC)

Yes, that was intended. It was substituting instances of the "unsigned" template which were (wrongly) transcluded instead of substituted. -- Porter21 (talk) 07:12, 5 June 2009 (UTC)

Three dog's glasses and head wrap

Hi, came across your edits on the glasses and head wrap while amidst my own for the glasses. I can understand the conserving space idealism in it, as well as the fact that it makes it a little cleaner, and so I can agree with having them both on one page. I do have a more aesthetic concern, I suppose, so feel free to disagree, but if they are on the same page, wouldn't it make more sense to redirect both items to a more fitting title, like "Three Dog's Headgear" or something? Realizing of course that these are not the item's names, per se, I also would recognize the problem with merging them into Three Dog's article, being character and item pages separate categories. An aesthetic/site-mapping technical remark/concern, if you would. Jwguy 16:04, 9 June 2009 (UTC)

Red links

We didn't intentionally create those, the wiki formatting put them in automatically, is there any way to fill in that box without a link? Fat Man Spoon 18:30, 11 June 2009 (UTC)

Oh well. Thanks for clearing that up. Fat Man Spoon 18:33, 11 June 2009 (UTC)
I tried that before, but it didn't look right. I don't think it's needed anyway. Also, we would like the 'Quest' infoboxes to be named 'Fallout Eleventy', but it seems to try to create a new template. I'm guessing this is also part of the Formatting? Fat Man Spoon 18:40, 11 June 2009 (UTC)
When useing the 'games' parameter, it inserts another infobox inside of the original box, I'm doing something wrong, and I don't know what. I also tried using the '{' heavy version, but that doesn't work either... Fat Man Spoon 19:06, 11 June 2009 (UTC)

Fallout Tactics Traps

I probably should have ran this by you and Ausir first, but I just added a bunch of traps that were missing from the wiki. I went ahead and put them under the Explosives category in the Fallout Tactics Weapons Navbox template, even though a majority of them aren't even "explosive" in nature. I just didn't know where else they should go. If you think this might be an issue, let me know. Mr. Sully 05:42, 18 June 2009 (UTC)

I've thought about it and using the term "reverse-pickpocket" is just silly, when you have a perfectly good "item planting" term already in use. http://images2.wikia.nocookie.net/fallout/images/thumb/5/5c/Scribe.jpg/15px-Scribe.jpg Tagaziel (call!) 06:45, 21 June 2009 (UTC)

Fallout demo

I was thinking that given that it features separate characters and story, maybe there should be a separate game icon for the Fallout demo? Ausir 01:18, 24 June 2009 (UTC)

The FO1 demo has a separate story (as does the FOT one). While the VB tech demo also does, unlike the FO1 and FOT ones, it was going to appear in the finished game as well - as the tutorial. Ausir 18:17, 24 June 2009 (UTC)

Can you help with another Wiki?

Hi, P, if you have some spare time on your hands, I'd like to ask you to take a look at the C&C Wiki (wikia:cnc:EVA_Database) and help us to design a new look for it. Are they not classed as creatures? You can't pickpocket or loot their clothing, both qualities point to creature. What does the GECK say? Fat Man Spoon 20:47, 24 June 2009 (UTC)

Its probably the same case with super mutants....should have their own race but are classed as creatures Butter 20:48, 24 June 2009 (UTC)

Hey Porter. I'm debating if I should put the Handyman's Jumpsuit in the Point Lookout template, when the link would lead to the Repairman Jumpsuit page. Nitpicker of the Wastes 22:52, 24 June 2009 (UTC)

Yeah, but the Hat of the People has it's own page, away from the Chinese Commando Hat. Should I make a page for the Handyman's Jumpsuit, or leave it on the Repairman Jumpsuit page? Nitpicker of the Wastes 23:09, 24 June 2009 (UTC)

C&C Skin and one thing

I've marked ships as sewers since, well, Point Lookout uses that icon for these locations.

As for the C&C skin, here's some resources:

Basically, I'd love to see the skin be in the same tone and style as the unreleased C&CIII interface. Because it's awesome and fairly neutral, enough to serve as the general skin for all C&C universes. http://images2.wikia.nocookie.net/fallout/images/thumb/5/5c/Scribe.jpg/15px-Scribe.jpg Tagaziel (call!) 07:20, 26 June 2009 (UTC)

Looks damn good, although the steel background I'd swap for a digital skyblue pattern, to match the interface we're aiming for. Damnit man, you're awesome. http://images2.wikia.nocookie.net/fallout/images/thumb/5/5c/Scribe.jpg/15px-Scribe.jpg Tagaziel (call!) 15:09, 26 June 2009 (UTC)

I think it looks good with the my version of the background, the sideboxes subtly emerge from it, just like interface popups for EVA. Toy Knife

Thank goodness you're here. I've got several people talking about a "Toy Knife" somewhere in Point Lookout. I've never seen it, and none of them seem to have GECKs or know how to use the co-ordiante system. Mind checking the GECK? I think it might be a switchblade. Nitpicker of the Wastes 14:12, 26 June 2009 (UTC)

Oh great. More Creepers. Anyway, thanks. I'll check it out, and we can get to making a page on it. Nitpicker of the Wastes 14:24, 26 June 2009 (UTC)

Alright, 10 minutes, five Swampfolk later, still can't find it. Co-ordinates? Nitpicker of the Wastes 14:35, 26 June 2009 (UTC)

Found it! Excellent. Haul it to Haley, get Melee Weapons to 100, see where it gets us. Nitpicker of the Wastes 14:54, 26 June 2009 (UTC)

Button Gwinnett

I'd say Lincoln is a borderline case, given that he has several items associated with him in the game, as well as two quests. And in case of Gwinnett, all of the necessary information about the historical Button can be just put on the robot page, and any additional info is covered by the Wikipedia link. The page on the historical Gwinnett had nothing that wasn't already covered by either wikipedia or the robot article. No need to have a separate page for him in my opinion. I'd delete George Washington too. Ausir 23:54, 28 June 2009 (UTC)

I think the only real-world presidents that are article-worthy are Lincoln (because of his major role in FO3 quests) and Nixon (because he was president post-divergence). Ausir 00:18, 29 June 2009 (UTC)

Off-topic forum

Do you think we should open one? Lots of the forum discussions in e.g. Fallout 3 general are lately just off-topic community chat, like Forum:Flame War Declared. On one hand, it will help keep such stuff out of the existing boards, on the other hand, it will encourage people to post more off-topic threads. Ausir 23:58, 28 June 2009 (UTC)

Yeah, sounds like a good idea - make the off-topic forum but enforce the "no off-topic chatter" rule elsewhere more strictly. Ausir 00:15, 29 June 2009 (UTC)
By the way, how about moving some of the older threads in the FO3 forums to archive categories? They're becoming a bit too big. Ausir 00:22, 29 June 2009 (UTC)
Nevermind, I found a way to divide them into pages. Ausir 00:30, 29 June 2009 (UTC)
By the way, how about keeping the off-topic forum not linked from the sidebar? Ausir 00:49, 29 June 2009 (UTC)
By the way, I just noticed that you redirected forum categories to forum board pages. I reverted that, since categories are useful for displaying topics alphabetically. Ausir 21:08, 1 July 2009 (UTC)

Appearance and Skill Used

Thanks for a bit of clarification. For the time being, it's probably best if I just hold off on making edits until a consistant weapons/items page layout is established. Again, I can understand MikaelGrizzly's point regarding superfluous information (although reverting all the other edits I made attempting to clean up infoboxes seemed unnecessary), but I still think it's better to have basic, useful information (with links) accessible at the top of an article, imo. Mr. Sully (T·C) 00:34, 29 June 2009 (UTC)

Do you think we should have blogs enabled in The Vault? Ausir 02:27, 29 June 2009 (UTC)

Looks like Wikia enabled it themselves. Ausir 20:27, 1 July 2009 (UTC)

Actually, blogs can be used not only for community web 2.0 kind of stuff. What do you think about this: Forum:Wiki blogs and news? I think it can be a pretty neat way of expanding The Vault's scope into newsposting. See: The Vault:News. Ausir 23:24, 1 July 2009 (UTC)

Could you perhaps dabble in the bloglist style for the news in the box form (as opposed to the list form like now), so that they fit the main page better? I didn't know how so I just used plain view, but I think it can be tweaked to our purposes.
Any blog post you create and add to Category:News will now be added to The Vault:News. Blog posts added to Category:Fallout 3 news will be added to The Vault:Fallout 3 news etc. Month categories will serve to create montly news archive pages. Instead of posting each item separately on each page, we can now use categories like on every wiki page.
And please post your feedback at wikia:community:Forum:Blog article feature feedback. Ausir 11:16, 2 July 2009 (UTC)
Maybe we should put the news box where the content box now is (seems like the box version of the bloglist is adjusted to be put there by default), make the intro a bit shorter and put contents where news now is on the main page (above featured article), in two columns? Ausir 11:51, 2 July 2009 (UTC)

I think I read somewhere that it's possible to add blog support to Monobook by modifying some css or js pages, but I'll have to look into it, I might have been mistaken. Ausir 19:07, 2 July 2009 (UTC)

See: wikia:community:Forum:Blog_article_feature_feedback#Monobook Ausir 19:09, 2 July 2009 (UTC)

Sounds like soon switching to Monaco might be necessary to most current Monobook users (although they constitute a smaller and smaller percentage of users nowadays, probably; even I switched to Monaco completely). Ausir 19:37, 2 July 2009 (UTC)

Add the missing link to the monobook sidebar, perhaps? Ausir 19:56, 2 July 2009 (UTC)

BTW, as for switching the news and contents on the main page, I initially objected partly because we didn't have a proper news system anyway, so there was no need to emphasize the news. And monaco users have most of the contents box in the sidebar anyway. So I'd do the switching this time. Ausir 20:02, 2 July 2009 (UTC)

I think the plain view looked better on The Vault:News. I'd reserve the box view to portals and such. Ausir 11:30, 3 July 2009 (UTC)

Category tools

Yeah, it is a pain in the ass, unfortunately. Ausir 09:44, 29 June 2009 (UTC)

Cut perks

Should we post pictures for the Point Lookout cut perks? I know we have for other cut perks, like Twitch Gamer, but I'm pretty sure that Mirelurk Ecology uses the Adamantium Skeleton picture, where Twitch Gamer had a unique image. What do you think? Just doing my job. 12:07, 29 June 2009 (UTC)

Wiki solidarity (A.K.A Please with sugar on top)

The good people at the Infamous Wiki need help. They have few contributors, and huge problems with trolling, fake articles and a creator that gave up the wiki two months ago.

I was wondering: Could I post a thread in the General Discussion where I ask PS3 players who own Infamous to help out?

I know, this is a rule-breaker: But could you give it some thought? An answer, or even better, advice, would be awesome. AngryNorwegianDude 19:24, 29 June 2009 (UTC)

Whats going on?

Hey! I have noticed that u and some other admins have been deleting some videos from some pages. Whats the story? I havent been told of any new policy. But if u guys have changed ur minds concerning embedded videos, I would really appreciate it if u can let me know. Thanks =) Youtube1smaller.jpeg CryonBrion (Talk) 23:48, 2 July 2009 (UTC)

Yes, I have done the same, deleting some stupid and redundant videos. But I believe that none of my videos are redundant or stupid in any way, since I always try to make them as suitable as possible. What woke my intrest for this was the Metal Blaster. I had a video for it embedded and now its gone. I checked the page history and found out that u were the one who deleted the video. And Kingclyde has deleted at least one of my video (Perforator) saying that there is no need for it. I dont know if he is an admin or not, but I replaced the video and send him a question about it. I have been "fighting" with some other minor video providers for intentionally deleting my videos and placing their own instead. Im losing some hair here already with this, since Im no admin and I dont have any authority in here, but why delete any of my videos? I dont want to sound too cocky (which I do anyway) but Im sure nobody will make better videos and I have been working my ass of for them to use them in here. And since my videos are the most watched Fallout 3 videos in the world by far, its a nice interlace between Fallout wiki and my videos. But thats just my opinion. Youtube1smaller.jpeg CryonBrion (Talk) 00:31, 3 July 2009 (UTC)
Ok, my bad :P I was way too tired yesterday when I was looking those pages X( Maybe I saw something that I cant see now <D Im sorry, I didnt mean to poke u like that, its just that I really want to contribute my part in here and it means a lot to me =) Youtube1smaller.jpeg CryonBrion (Talk) 08:19, 3 July 2009 (UTC)

Lawn Chair

Hey, I'm sure you had a good reason, but I was curious as to why the Lawn Chair character page was deleted? Its a real character.. a lead in for mothership zeta.. i can be contacted at baker.dnd@gmail.com

Sounds like just a glitch to me. Ausir 14:31, 3 July 2009 (UTC)
I'll be blunt: I deleted the article because it was unfounded speculation. The Lawn Chair is a world object, not a character; it can be moused over and has a name because, like every other chair in FO3, you can sit on it. There's is nothing that ties it to Mothership Zeta or being alien. So unless you show me the source of "what bethesda has told [you]" (quote from article), the article was just imagination gone crazy. -- Porter21 (talk) 15:39, 3 July 2009 (UTC)

About that whitespace thing. I hadn't even noticed it until you said something. But at least every weapon article on the wiki has been updated to use the new template :) --Macros 23:58, 3 July 2009 (UTC)

Locking a Page

Is there a way to lock my user page so no one (even me) can edit it. I just went through hell trying to fix something and I think it's exactly how I want it. So can you or I lock it if you can?

Help:Form IDs

On the help form Ids you have left out point lookout DLC info, because I have noticed that if point lookout is downloaded it changes Broken Steel's formID from 03 to 04 and point lookout takes it's place, 03(that is if all DLC[Operation:Anchorage, Broken Steel, The Pitt, and Point Lookout] is downloaded. VT Advanced Power Armor

According to GameFAQs it exists: http://www.gamefaqs.com/console/xbox/file/589789/28740

You want advanced power armor? It's right in this room. There's two sets of crates you can crawl under on the south side of this place and underneath them is a full set of Advanced Power Armor. It doesn't look any different, but an armor bonus is an armor bonus."

Thank you. This time I'm keeping it unlocked (especially since BS comes out relatively soon) 11:22, 8 July 2009 (UTC)

News category

It should still pull from the generic news category, though, since there are some news that don't fit into the game-specific ones, like the one about ZeniMax acquiring id Software, and are only in the main News category. Ausir(talk) 00:00, 9 July 2009 (UTC)

Looks like we need to revert - the news system does not support pulling news from this many categories. Currently the last category listed is not pulled from (first it was "Other news", then I switched it around with "Community news" to be sure). Ausir(talk) 08:54, 9 July 2009 (UTC)

As for named creatures, not sure, just wanted to follow the established practice of considering e.g. named dogs characters (as with Dogmeat). Unlike dogs, yao guai don't have a "race" category, so I put Ruzka under creatures.

As for the rest, I'm not entirely decided. Sometimes having articles in the more general category as well makes more sense if the category is not too cluttered as it makes the articles easier to find. Ausir(talk) 08:20, 9 July 2009 (UTC)

Sounds good. Ausir(talk) 10:11, 9 July 2009 (UTC)

Ad revenue

Too bad we won't see any of it ourselves. But then again, had I not move the wiki to Wikia, I'd have a hard time finding good hosting for it before it started to bring any ad money but after it got too many visitors for my previous host to handle. And were it not for Wikia people that talked them out of it, Bethesda would have started an official Fallout 3 wiki that would compete with The Vault. Ausir(talk) 19:15, 16 July 2009 (UTC)

We're actually the second most popular Wikia gaming wiki nowadays. Sometimes I regret not having set it up somewhere where I would get the ad money instead of moving it to Wikia back in 2007, but then again just withstanding the traffic before any ad money would flow in would require money I wouldn't have anyway. Canon template

I don't think we need the canon template in e.g. FOT sections in an article for a weapon that also appears in FO1 and 2 that just have the FOT stats for the weapon with no new lore. Ausir(talk) 22:09, 17 July 2009 (UTC)
