I was wondering something, am I the only one with two followers (not counting Dogmeat)? I finished the Aqua Cura quest and it said Charon returned to the ninth circle and RL-3 went to Canterbury Commons. This confused me as both were dead. I went to the Ninth Circle and sure enough, Charon was there. I had Fawkes and Dogmeat with me but i decided to ask Charon to join me. He was even in the tesla armor he died in. He joined, and I know can have Charon, Dogmeat, AND Fawkes. Even if I leave to a download (like Point Lookout or The Pitt), I can have both back (including Dogmeat) when I get back. Is this just a really lucky glitch for me, or a bug with the Aqua Cura quest? (P.S.: In case you hadn't realized, this is in Fallout 3.)--Valoopy

Gameplay

Well, I enjoy Fallout 3 more, so I guess I'll be going off that. I would have to say the Xuanlong assault rifle if I'm in open combat or the Samurai sword or the Perforator if I'm sneaking around. I also like using the Double-barrel shotgun, even if its a "slow" weapon. If I'm sniping, I use either the Victory rifle and/or the Blackhawk (or the Backwater rifle, if I'm looking for a challenge). I don't really use energy weapons that much, aside from the Gauss rifle. I just never saw the appeal. However, I really like A3-21's plasma rifle, but I never use it; I just collect it and display in My Megaton house. I try to use Lincoln's repeater just because it looks so cool, but I can't bring myself to degrade it (because I'm a sentimental fool), so I take it and display in my house.

Images

It is the way wikia works, if you upload a extremely large image (such as I have done with the weapon image) and then display it on the page in a small thumb etc. Wikia doesn't use the original image and just resize it (which wouldn't change the image file size, so a 2 megabyte image would still be 2 meg regardless). Wikia actually generates a new image from the original (such as you have done by reducing them) to the size that is being displayed, this speeds up viewing for the user and also reduces bandwidth required by Wikia servers. Same also applies the the expanded view when you click on a image, that is also generated from the original if it is larger than the confines of the expanded view. But if a reader wants to see more detail on the image, they can actually go to the image page itself and click the image to see it in full detail. Reducing it yourself doesn't give the site any benefits, as this is already done by the servers themselves, but it does remove the ability for a viewer to see it in full detail.

As for using jpg instead of png file format, png is a lossless file format, meaning that the image isn't compressed in anyway and can create insane image sizes, so if a user wants to see the original image it can take some time to load. With jpg images, the file is compressed at very little lose to the image quality and reduces the file size a lot. The only real use for png is for the transparent ability used by item images etc, something that isn't used for location images. 20:02, April 18, 2011 (UTC)

Project

So I have an idea, and it sounds right to me: I need a PC user with Fallout: New Vegas and Dead Money. What I want to test is if it is possible to get Dean Domino, Christine, and Dog/God in the Mojave. While I know they can exist in the Mojave, I want to see if they can be companions. My theory is based off of a similar, failed attempt with Benjamin Montgomery, from Operation: Anchorage. I heard that when spawned in the Capital Wastes, he stands there and does nothing. I think the same would happen to any of the DLC companions if spawned after the DLC, unless certain quests are happening. I believe that spawning, for example, Dean Domino while the quest Strike Up The Band is active will allow him to follow you, as at this point he is scripted to do so. The problems I see with this is that telling him to leave to the fountain will make him either glitch and dissappear or run all the way to the BoS bunker. Other than that, it sounds plausible. Legendary Deathclaw

I meant to reply earlier to your question, but I probably had to leave and closed the window instead, or something like that. It's been quite some time since I took on that Legendary Deathclaw with the Alien Blaster; I'm not 100% sure how I managed to do that but it was likely something like, start out with a Sneak Attack Critical (IIRC they do more damage than normal criticals) and then two more hits, all three of them being headshots. Most likely I used VATS and had max Energy Weapons skill, and bear in mind that all shots from the Alien Blaster are criticals - that's one of the key features of that weapon. --Kris 15:55, May 15, 2011 (UTC)

Not sure, since I haven't used the AMR much; maybe it has built-in AP, or maybe you were using AP rounds? When I made that kill, energy weapons had no armor-piercing capabilities so they took full DT penalties (the game has since been patched to address that issue, but I'm unclear how that works); and deathclaws have a lot of DT. Also, the AMR is a beast of a weapon, and probably more powerful than the Alien Blaster on a per-shot basis. I suppose the articles would say for sure. --Kris 16:52, May 15, 2011 (UTC)

Funny thing, I've recently had occasion to take a well-stocked and fully-repaired Anti-Materiel Rifle into Deathclaw territory. It's a hell of a weapon, but it's by no means a free pass to wander freely in such a dangerous area. Even a sneak shot with AP rounds was not enough for me to be able to one-shot a standard Deathclaw, only a young one. Having insufficient strength (7/8) and less than maxed Guns skill (80 or so) also affected my abilities with that weapon. I made it through (north to south along I-15) but not without a few death-reloads. --Kris 15:08, May 19, 2011 (UTC)

That is true, but with the amount of junk images that are uploaded each day and not used (I delete around 20 a day), I simply don't have the time to message everyone and wait for a response. Especially when all it takes is a simply message and I can easily restore the image, or it can be uploaded again if needed. Neither of which has happened in the last 3 months, which makes this a 1 in 1500 case, which I think you would agree is a acceptable rate for mistakes for maintaining the wiki. 01:59, May 16, 2011 (UTC)

Well, it's a difficult subject to discuss with Josh (I read some reply for weapons and it remains very vague and doesn't tell a name), but I think many contributors and admin doesn't agree and will ask for real evidence. I think we should really had to draw it out of him, with a question like "how is called this weapon in the world of Fallout", and not try to compare with a real weapon, where he admits the inspiration, but never "it's this weapon".

For your question, I think it can't truly answer sadly, I read why he put the box at the end of Honest Hearts, and he said it was to avoid killing characters just to have their stuff. Good idea, but it's Josh who decide that, and the project leader for Old Worlds Blues is Chris Avellone (and he have no Formspring account --- well sincerely, I doesn't find it but may be)! Just so you know I also posted this on Cartmans Talk page, you booth have kinda been my mentors, I'm here to bend yer ears again.

Could you please look at the ficional compaion page at the bootom of my profile and advise me on how you would edit the technical aspects i.e. Presentaion of the related quests ect.. I made Major Tom because one I wish I could get a space monkey compaion and two because I knew he'd be good practice for me. ■ I have Major Tom as being envolved in 3 quests and I made 2 new perks for him and discribed what benefits he would confer on the player. I know it all looks less than professionally done. I don't know what eles to say, any advice you could offer would help me to be a more effective editor. I Thank you for you time.

Adminship - Armoury

I was reading the main page, and you said that you wanted some admins. I was wondering if you would consider me as I would be more than happy to take on the privilege. I have only been here two months, but I know that the Armoury hasn't even existed that long. However, I have made numerous contributions here, as you can see, in my short time here and am used to templates and the like. My key advantage though would be my ability to 'patrol' more than other users and to be able to use the tools effectively, as well as look after the articles. This is mainly because I like to view the articles, and look at the custom weapons and armours, but don't have the software to do it myself. Still, I view this as an advantage. I saw several people comment that mixes several things. Some say it will divide the contributions to The Vault, it's true but I think everyone is free to do what he wants.

People who do fan art like fan-modified guns or other things don't necessarily "always" want to contribute to The Vault, but sometimes want to share these things with other people (like in DeviantArt). With this, everyone is free to contribute what he wants when he wants and share things in places made ​​for that as he wishes (like for other sister wiki like Vault-Tec Labs for mods etc.). In addition, it helps to have a real place for fan art without breaking the 5 UP image policy.

Fallout Answers

Hello Valoopy :)

You may have heard that The Vault's sister site, Fallout Answers, recently opted for Wikia to initiate an IP block, effectively blocking all IP addresses from editing pages for at least two weeks. In the time that I and the bureaucrat have, we would like to add upon the team over on the sister site.

At the moment, there are only two users with administrative privileges who regularly are online. In order to make the site more effective and efficient, I have been tasked with finding trusted users that can take some time (maybe 5-10 minutes) from their normal Wikia schedule to keep an eye on the site from time to time. This will potentially cut down on site traffic and allow "real" questions to be asked and answered in more depth. Through my past interactions with you, I feel that the bureaucrat and I can trust you with administrative privileges.

Yes, you assume correctly. There's been an influx of bad questions lately (Tezzla's having a tantrum), so more admins are needed to delete bad questions and block trolls. You'll likely be promoted to admin on Monday or Tuesday; the bureaucrat has some business to deal with and will be back in at the start of the week.

The label is a painted Coca-Cola logo on a glass bottle. I was attempting to make it resemble "Nuka-Cola" and that was the best I could do at the time.

It's a shame we didn't get more of a chance to hang out before you left the Wiki for a while. I have been inactive for the most part until recently, so you didn't miss out on much (except for some very bad decisions on my part). I guess when I left, I realised how much certain people actually cared about me.
