While Follows-Chalk is in your party, reaching any summit in Zion Valley (such as ranger stations) will reveal all nearby map markers and inspire a heightened state of awareness (+3 PER) for three minutes.— In-game description

Well-Stacked Cairns is a companion perk in the Fallout: New Vegas add-on Honest Hearts.

Requirements[]

Gaining Follows-Chalk as a companion requires starting Arrival at Zion, and getting through the initial White Legs ambush that slaughters the Happy Trails Caravan Company members. Halfway across a hanging bridge, a White Leg raider appears on a nearby cliff and attacks before Follows-Chalk appears and kills them, then automatically joins the player character's company to direct them to Joshua Graham. He can continue to act as a companion until the completion of Deliverer of Sorrows when he is permanently dismissed.

Effects[]

When Follows-Chalk is an active companion, the player character can obtain a temporary bonus of +3 to Perception for 3 minutes as well as mark some undiscovered locations on the map by going to certain locations in Zion Canyon.

Locations[]

Some kind of view up here, neh? If you know how to look, you can spot all kinds of landmarks from up here. Look, I'll show you.Follows-Chalk

The below list denotes the six specific locations that trigger the perk when first visiting along with the map markers they reveal:

Notes[]

The perk trigger area is usually close to the location's fast travel point.

Behind the scenes[]

A cairn is a man-made pile of stones or rocks used for navigational landmarks. They are commonly found at the summits of mountains.
