An unarmed weapon consisting of a tattered glove with rope harnessing a bear trap onto it. The jaws of the trap are folded back past the normal, 180-degree open position, exposing the pressure plate above the knuckle so that, when a punch connects, the pressure plate makes contact with the target causing the trap to snap shut. It deals low-to-moderate damage per strike, albeit at the slowest attack speed of all unarmed weapons along with the corrosive glove , the power fist, and the ballistic fist and its unique variant Two-Step Goodbye. It deals low-to-moderate critical hit damage, but has a moderately high AP cost, low-end durability, high-end weight, and a decent caps value. It also inflicts bonus damage to an enemy's limbs, increasing the chance of crippling them.
The weapon's bonus limb damage makes it very effective against the ghost people, especially with a high Unarmed skill level, as they are scripted to die instantly when crippled.
The weapon appears somewhat smaller when equipped by ghost trappers.
It also differs in appearance from the original bear trap, as the unarmed weapon is much smaller with more teeth.
Despite Dog having several lines of dialogue suggesting that he uses the bear trap embedded in his left arm to attack, it is not considered a weapon, rather a part of the nightkin's unique body model.
