Why did you revert his grammatical fixed? The new wording is better than the old. I reverted it back.--Kingclyde 03:18, July 16, 2011 (UTC)

Really?

Well that is one of the most odd Americanisms I have ever encountered. Well, I suppose I have no choice, but to leave it on the pages... Painful though it may be ;). Thanks for the info, I just have to apologise to Jspoel then. TheGuardianCalligraphyGuardianoftheWastesTag.

Gallery

Just to let you know, I had the same annoyance until I found out the reason why. If a image is added via the add image button, Wikia always adds the caption=left to the gallery tag. There is nothing that can be done about it. User:AvatarUser talk:Avatar 02:03, July 19, 2011 (UTC)

Trust me, you will soon get fed up of checking each one, especially when it doesn't have any effect since that is the default setting without the setting anyway. As for notable loot, that is an item of limited availability, high value, or large amounts of. It isn't things that are found all over the wastes, (i.e. stimpaks, Med-X, bottle caps etc.) User:AvatarUser talk:Avatar 12:17, July 19, 2011 (UTC)

Using the GECK spelling and capitalization of the item (Re: K9000 Cyberdog Gun)

I merely used the entry exactly as it appears in GECK (which also is how the entry is capitalized in-game). I think that falls under "Proper Noun" usage. However, I'm not going to revert your changes, as I'm just trying to add a deluge of information from the release of Old World Blues, so at least some information is there for people playing it soon. Fallout: New Vegas weapons

It would appear that they are arranged alphabetically at first, with their unique version listed after the normal weapon. So the tier of has nothing to do with how the weapons are arranged. The categories themselves (Guns, Energy Weapons, etc.) appear to be arranged by their commonality. Sorry if I missed what you were asking, so let me know if I got it right. Kastera (talk) 16:14, July 19, 2011 (UTC)

Yes they are ordered by common weapon with the unique variant immediately after. If a unique weapon has no common counterpart, then it is placed in alphabetical order also. User:AvatarUser talk:Avatar 03:11, July 20, 2011 (UTC)

Hello my friend =)

I see you change the X-13 cardiac regulator sneak suit for stealth suit Mk II in the text, please don't do that.

In the Vault, the real name in the Fallout universe of any items (weapons, armors etc.) have a more importance than the in-game name, which is sometimes just a nickname (like Plasma Defender that it's the Glock 86) or a vague name (like in this case). Please always used the real name if it exist but you may be unaware so no problem Mara ;)! Have a nice day and see you soon, keep up the good works my friend! I'm not really invested in this, except as sharing information, but I am curious as to why the reference to the Daft Punk song was removed. I can revise it to "probably" since I have no reference, but I can't find anything else that the title might be from. Fallout Answers

Hello Mara :) You may have heard that The Vault's sister site, Fallout Answers, recently opted for Wikia to initiate an IP block, effectively blocking all IP addresses from editing pages for at least two weeks. In the time that I and the bureaucrat have, we would like to add upon the team over on the sister site.

At the moment, there are only two users with administrative privileges who regularly are online. In order to make the site more effective and efficient, I have been tasked with finding trusted users that can take some time (maybe 5-10 minutes) from their normal Wikia schedule to keep an eye on the site from time to time. This will potentially cut down on site traffic and allow "real" questions to be asked and answered in more depth. Through my past interactions with you, I feel that the bureaucrat and I can trust you with administrative privileges.

If you feel comfortable joining the team, please leave a message on my talk page and let me know your decision. Best regards, Kastera (talk) 16:00, August 27, 2011 (UTC)

I understand. I have seven users that have already accepted, so one declining isn't that big of a deal. Good luck with your classes!

srry man, never knew about not using real-life weapons, i'm still a rookie at this

RE: Speaking of DAM:AP

With the exception of automatic weapons all weapons fire one round in vats, so you divide the damage of a single shot with the AP cost and there you have it, same goes for the shotguns. Imo the shotgun damage should be calculated by it's default damage (the damage it does with slug rounds) since all other rounds have damage multipliers.

In the case of automatic weapons you got to find out how many rounds it shoots and then multiply the single shot damage with the number of rounds it shoots and then divide by it's AP usage, for example if a weapon shoots 5 round in vats and each round does 10 damage while it uses 25 AP then it is 5*10/25 = 50/25 = 2.

In the case of explosive weapons the AOE damage counts in the single shot damage, the Missile launcher foe example does 125+200 = 325 per shot.

I don't know what happens in the case the weapon has an effect damage as well (flame, holo, emp, etc), imo since it is not mentioned in the chart then it doesn't count.

Hope I helped! Comedian1988 00:45, September 5, 2011 (UTC)

If it ain't broke...

The philosophy of a wiki is not "only edit stuff if you absolutely have to and something is terribly broken."

If my 'fixes' don't break anything, then don't 'fix' them. Multiplication should use a multiplication sign, not an "x". A dash indicating a range of numbers should be an en dash, not a hyphen. There's nothing wrong with changing punctuation to be strictly proper, but I would argue to say that there is something wrong with changing it back. Reverting an edit for the sole purpose of "it was this way first" contradicts the very idea of a wiki. —ProtonZero 22:20, September 7, 2011 (UTC)

Jury rigging

Hi! About jury rigging, I thought that unique weapons that had no normal variant where to be mentioned in the lists. Should they be mentioned or not?

Btw, about the +P or any other special bullets you can use that equation: WD=(HP*5)*(R/WF), due to bugs it's 98% accurate. Comedian1988 00:26, September 17, 2011 (UTC)

Yes, it would be foolish to repair a normal weapon with a unique but not the opposite, so I thought the unique weapons should be added so someone could find witch weapons can be used to repair the uniques. I also thought of adding a highlight to such unique weapons. Comedian1988 00:35, September 17, 2011 (UTC)

I thought something like this:

Anti-materiel rifle², BB gun¹, brush gun, caravan shotgun, cowboy repeater, hunting rifle, hunting shotgun, lever-action shotgun, single shotgun, trail carbine, varmint rifle.

    • This Machine.

or this

Anti-materiel rifle², BB gun¹, brush gun, caravan shotgun, cowboy repeater, hunting rifle, hunting shotgun, lever-action shotgun, single shotgun, This Machine³, trail carbine, varmint rifle.

with a note: ³ are unique weapons with no normal versions

I think it's just the monotony of it. There isn't a lot of choice with ORPs. 'Allegedly' there are a few menus but you always end up with the same stuff. It's not horrible food but after a week of eating the same thing you just want to kill the next person to offer you 'Menu B'. Unwanted snide remark.

I'm not sure you know what the point of an admin is in a Wikia wiki. They're not intended to be in charge, they're simply given more powers than normal users in order to help keep the peace and ensure that a wiki doesn't fall apart. Other than that, it's up to every user to enforce policy, regardless of how much they do or do not contribute to the whole scope of the wiki. If someone added something to the mainspace of a page that didn't belong there, I would remove it. Ditto on the talk page. Just because I'm not a fervent user of this particular wiki doesn't mean I don't know how Wikia wikis work.--OzzMan 13:25, September 21, 2011 (UTC)

Perks

Regardless of it they work or not, they should not be added as they are conditional damage perks (i.e. they only add damage if certain conditions are meet). Only non-conditional perks are to be added to the infobox. User:AvatarUser talk:Avatar 10:35, October 17, 2011 (UTC)

Yes, Lonesome Road is conditional and needs to be removed from every page. And you're correct, DLC don't tend to interact with each other in most cases. Although it is possible, it is very hard and prone to glitches (especially if the user doesn't have the DLC), which is why it tends to be avoided (hence why GRA has it own set of weapons). And the only weapons from the OWB dlc to be added to Laser Commander are the LAER and Elijah's version. User:AvatarUser talk:Avatar 10:35, October 20, 2011 (UTC)
There is no need to renumber or reorder the perk numbers, my bot is currently doing that. User:AvatarUser talk:Avatar 21:04, October 20, 2011 (UTC)
It should be explained here Fallout 3 combat. Although I was sure it wasn't applied, it seems to suggest it does. Some actual in game testing might be required. User:AvatarUser talk:Avatar 23:10, October 20, 2011 (UTC)

DLC perks and interactions

Perks from DLCs affect other weapons if they affect global stats. Eg. a perk giving a 10% increase in damage (Lonesome Road) will affect weapons from other DLCs, since it changes a global stat (damage multiplier). However, perks that rely on formlists (such as grunt) will not affect weapons from other DLCs, since they can't reference these weapons. Personal_Sig_Image.gif Tagaziel (call!) 10:43, October 20, 2011 (UTC)

The way I figured it. DLC's run a script to add the weapons to formlists for base game only perks etc. i.e. there is a formlist for all weapons (NVAllWeapons) which what the general damage perks run off. If a weapon isnt added via the script to the correct formlist, it isn't affected by the relevant perk. The easiest one I can think of off the top of my head is the Faderator in all DLC's. Radio New Vegas

The reason I reverted it was because the recent changes to it only shows a couple lines, so 1) I couldn't see it was under sponsors, and 2) as far as I know that bit was not already on the page, so it should stay. After I received your message, however, I went to move it to an appropriate heading, but I couldn't find one, and thought that sponsors would probably be the most appropriate heading. Mr. New Vegas could be saying it like he himself is sponsoring the news and he does say the bit when he usually should be saying a sponsor (I think; it's been a while since I've listened to RNV). --17:51, November 23, 2011 (UTC)

  • It was not there ~ But now it's back. So Thanks.

RE: Scotch Whisky

Is there any reason why you removed my contribution? I'm going to put it back on that page if there isn't. --Owlbread 14:32, December 8, 2011 (UTC)

In that case, why not have "usually produced in Scotland"? Even if it's a knock-off, it's going to be a knock-off of a Scottish product. You could even have "originates in Scotland" to cover the outsourcing. --Owlbread 14:54, December 8, 2011 (UTC)

Settlement icons

Hi GreatMara! It seemed irrational to me that the largest settlement in the Capitol Wasteland was marked with a 'medium' label. However soon after I realised that the Pip-Boy map says otherwise! Sorry you had to waste your time fixing it :P Have a good day!

Ruzka

I checked the GECK, but couldn't find the gender to be either male of female. Probably you know why it's a her. On another note, could I interest you in applying for adminship? I think you're the prime candidate with so many admins gone. You would do me a favor with it. As one of the few remaining admins here, I need to check so many page edits right now, also the ones your revert. Need to see how bad the edit was. With you having block power, things would become easier for me and I would have more time doing own edits. Jspoel Speech Jspoel 16:39, December 10, 2011 (UTC)

Oh Anons' edits...

Beautiful. ΣΔ 21:02, December 12, 2011 (UTC)

Pardon me. If you'd be so kind as to get on the chat, I have something I need to discuss with you. --TheMedic501 07:35, December 13, 2011 (UTC)

And a one-word translation holds greater permission or relevance than practical information? I put in a Notes section so that it wouldn't be discredited for not being confirmed by developers, and it does reference the in-game weapon by name. So that's not your excuse. Either keep my information posted, or you should remove the Behind The Scenes section entirely; I'm rather positive the developers of Fallout didn't give the users of The Vault a five-second lesson on Latin-to-English nouns. --TheMedic501 07:41, December 13, 2011 (UTC)

Arcade Gannon

I'm very, very, sorry! I merely forgot about the quotation maximum. I apologise for the inconvenience. ΣΔ 23:28, December 14, 2011 (UTC)

Unmarked locations

All locations which only show up on the local map, are not automatically unmarked. In fact, very few are. All those shops and buildings in and close to New Vegas have the building icon, not the unmarked icon. Generally, only buildings or interesting landmarks outside New Vegas, which can be considered isolated (no other markers in the vicinity), are unmarked. But I wouldn't spend too much time on that, just about every location has the correct marker now. Jspoel Speech Jspoel 22:26, December 15, 2011 (UTC)

Stats

Probably Atticus' karma was changed during a GECK update. You need to look on the Traits tab, Alignment box and not the AI data mood box. As far as I know, you can add the (gameplay) statistics with the 3 highest shown up stats as tag skills. You can also add SPECIAL, derived stats and level if you want for (important) characters. Jspoel Speech Jspoel 22:30, December 16, 2011 (UTC)

Try a few and see what stats you can fill in, and I will doublecheck it. Did you already update to GECK 1.5?. Jspoel Speech Jspoel 22:56, December 16, 2011 (UTC)
My mistake. It's version 1.4. So you can use your current GECK version.

Alexus

I reverted your Papa Khan stat edit. You had the wrong Papa Khan. And where did you find the tag skills (and DT) of Alexus? I can't find them in the GECK (skills are all 5). Jspoel Speech Jspoel 22:25, December 20, 2011 (UTC)

You need to have to Caucasianold one (140e53). And where did you find the DT? Jspoel Speech Jspoel 22:36, December 20, 2011 (UTC)
Ah I see. Makes sense. Jspoel Speech Jspoel 22:39, December 20, 2011 (UTC)
Ulysses has indeed just a DT of 18, 15 for the duster (just corrected it) and 3 for the mask. Can't make more of it. And Graham has 50 in total. Can't find boosts. Jspoel Speech Jspoel 23:16, December 20, 2011 (UTC)

Just a note

Not the whole magazines and clips fiasco! Also, I want to thank you for the diligent work you've been doing all along on this wiki. Happy Holidays! -Love, ΣΔ 00:01, December 21, 2011 (UTC)

If you were referring to me, I didn't remove it. --HighFiveBearLeftHighFiveBearRight 06:00, December 22, 2011 (UTC)

I was just thinking of splitting the page. I'll get started on it. -Love, ΣΔ 00:00, December 30, 2011 (UTC)

Alright, I've finished the split. It is very basic so it'll need more info, confirmation, etc. -Love, ΣΔ 00:43, December 30, 2011 (UTC)

I wonder why such a contributive and experienced editor like yourself has never applied for any promotion? -ΣΔLet's talk! 23:42, January 5, 2012 (UTC)

Where does it say that there is a 5 quote limit? I am refering to the frequent edits on Raul Tejada's page.

Hi - on my recent edit, "within" is indeed one word. However, it's incorrect in this context:

>>Potent laser and plasma weapons were being experimented within there.

The meaning of this sentence is that the weapons were being experimented with at that location, the Glow.

The correct grammatical usage is "were being experimented with in there." The "with" is the adverb modifying the verb "experimented" and the "in" is the verb modifying the noun "there."

To use "within" as a preposition the sentence would have to read: "Potent laser and plasma weapons were being experimented with within there." If you change this sentence from passive to active voice this becomes more obvious, thus: "They were experimenting with the weapons in there." "With" modifies "experimenting," "in" modifies "there."

Quotes

That would be pretty nice, actually. Who added that feature in on the Liberty Prime page? Dragon Skål! 01:34, January 16, 2012 (UTC)

Unique creatures

Is this based on a base ref ID from the game or a wiki subjective classification? I ask this as several unique creature variations are folded into their primary creature pages with no individual page citations. Xclockwatcher 07:50, January 17, 2012 (UTC)

This may be something that bares revisiting, as it is not currently being uniformly applied. It's rather debatable whether unique creatures qualify as characters. Unique creatures would more appropriately be described as a sub class or category of the creature they are derived from. Unless this is a just a wiki template issue, it leaves something of a leap of logic for organizing listings like this. I can see creatures with interactive qualities like Dogmeat being treated as characters, but there needs to be an objective standard for how to organized these cases. I know GhostAvatar still posts pops in on forum pages, but as he hasn't been an active admin here since the split, this seems like a matter for the current staff of admins to decide 'What constitutes a character and why'. Weapon formula

I had a feeling the FNV one had some kind of... surprise. It definitely won't be as simple as the FO3 ones. By the way you are very welcome to join the project, just add your userlink under the participants section. -ΣΔLet's talk! 01:16, January 19, 2012 (UTC)

Very well. I can tell you that this has happened to me too, on the PS3. Using Jury-Rigging, which is a must for me, I've repaired a Hunting Rifle to full condition. I then shot off a bunch of .308 rounds, and when the condition was critically low the thing broke 4 shots away from what is on the page. -ΣΔLet's talk! 01:43, January 19, 2012 (UTC)

Re:

Looks like they made a huge mistake when appointing bureaucrats. I hope they contact Wikia to get this over with. -ΣΔLet's talk! 19:46, January 20, 2012 (UTC)

It's good that there can/will be something done, but for the most part I think we should leave it alone, since he's already blocked at this wiki and quite infamous on others. -ΣΔLet's talk! 20:00, January 20, 2012 (UTC)

User JAF

I will be rectifying this right away. I am very sorry about his actions, and we will do everything possible to stop his harassment.

I absolutely condemn any name calling he committed against you and everyone else.

I will make a report to Wikia Staff to remove his bureaucrat access.

{{SUBST::User:Sascha Kreiger/SigReal}} 21:13, January 20, 2012 (UTC)

Very interesting.

I thought you might want to know about something Sascha must think we're too dumb to see for ourselves. "I actually had to tell some of the people today that he wouldn't be admin again in order to stop them from reporting us. In a few months time, it might be good to reevaluate and consider him, but for now I'm not sure it's a good idea. I'm really not trying to be harsh or anything at all like that. I have no problem with him editing once the block expires, but I'm not sure he should be admin." [4] I will be sending a report to Sansse later about these incidents and their lack of ability to deal with it properly. Dragon Skål! 06:31, January 21, 2012 (UTC)

I just want to mention that he withdrew this complaint. It was a misunderstanding, and I am recommending that JAF never be an admin again. That before was my way of negotiating with an admin who wanted to restore his admin status after a short bloc.
