Buck Nixon was a machine operator for Hornwright Industrial's Mount Blair Rockhound before the Great War.
Background[]
Having extensive experience with the excavator, Nixon was well versed in its operation, having worked on it while it was still drawing power from the local power grid. Previously, it was supported by diesel engines and experienced all the blackouts such a large machine would experience from low output sources.
When Hornwright replaced the unreliable, expensive power supply with the cleaner, more efficient four nuclear reactors, he was elated to have a machine that did not stall every other moment. While living by nuclear reactors, shielded as they may be, made him a bit apprehensive, Nixon enjoyed a stable job and "fat" bonuses that convinced him and his crew to stay.[1]
