The Capitol Post was a pre-War newspaper with offices in Washington, D.C.'s L'Enfant plaza.

Background[]

Several of its articles can be read at the company's office in L'Enfant Plaza, dealing with pre-War news such as the disbanding of the United Nations, the annexation of Canada, the Anchorage Reclamation, the new super weapon of the U.S. Army under development or the Pint-Sized Slasher. A reporter of the company can be encountered in the Anchorage Reclamation simulation in Operation: Anchorage, taking the picture which was to become the template for the Anchorage War Memorial.[1]

Notes[]

  • The naming of the newspaper is inconsistent: on Fallout 3 loading screens and in the Fallout 3 trailer, it is called "Capital Post" whereas in-game it is called "Capitol Post."
  • A copy of the newspaper cost $56, due to the inflation that occurred before the Great War. The price varied in areas outside of metropolitan Washington, D.C.[2]
  • The newspaper began in the year 1877.[3]

Appearances[]

The Capitol Post building appears in Fallout 3. Three issues of the newspaper can be seen on a loading screen in the same game and an American war correspondent from the newspaper can be encountered in the add-on Operation: Anchorage. The company is also mentioned in Fallout 76 cut content.[4]

Behind the scenes[]

The newspaper is a reference to Washington, D.C.'s Washington Post.
