Hi and welcome to the talk-page, the page where you... talk. Feel free to drop me a beat and a signature and I'll respond when I can! Thanks muchly and have a nice day :D Brandon Fox (talk) 23:57, November 4, 2013 (UTC)

Re: Poll guy

You've been a big help as the assistant Poll-guy. I figured it was the least I can do. I'll make sure to set the stage, and sorry for giving you a ton of results to do on day one. Dead Gunner's SMG JPG1 "Semper Invictus" 18:25, October 31, 2013 (UTC)

I'm sure you'll do great! Because, you know, it'd be a shame if our next resident poll master mysteriously found themselves with one of those Wikia ban glitches after a poorly designed weekly poll. ;D ForGaroux Some Assembly Required! 18:28, October 31, 2013 (UTC)
Can you jump into chat for just a moment? ForGaroux Some Assembly Required! 19:37, November 5, 2013 (UTC)
I have a few things to do around the house today, so I'll be jumping off in a few minutes. If you don't catch me, just shoot a message my way and I'll jump back in. ForGaroux Some Assembly Required! 19:49, November 5, 2013 (UTC)

( I'm glad we found a man for the poll, you show good prospect from what I've seen from you in blogs; you have the similar sparky and chipper style of writing of Dead Gunner. I was worried a bit about a successor. You know, you now get your name and poll every week for display on the front page, which is important, because people will know the wiki is alive and kicking so to speak. We want to keep our visitors happy and entertained and the polls certainly help. We all help out in areas we are good at and we like. I do it in editing, you do it the polls. Both matter. Good luck! I have faith in you. Jspoel Speech Jspoel 20:26, November 5, 2013 (UTC)

Hey Brandon, remind me to give you the keys to the twitter. Also need to discuss how the polls are going to look, lets see if we can jazz it up a little. Agent c (talk) 21:48, November 5, 2013 (UTC)

Personal New Vegas review

I've done one playthrough so far, but that one missed the buttload of side quests. I now find that my inventory, which was easy to keep clean in Fallout 3, is now cluttered with fruit and vegetables and things to make repair kits with. I also seem to get some strange satisfaction from picking fruits and vegetables from the environment =P. The only things I don't like about the game is how they changed the voices of the robots (I thought they were just fine, now they're...disturbing), and the inflated prices of everything. I really enjoyed the companion quests, though I have only done Boone's, Arcade's, Rex's, Raul's and ED-E's so far (though not all in one playthrough). I think that the achievement for helping the Legion and one for House are going to be like the achievement for Strictly Business: it took me forever (years, and many playthroughs, really) to get, because I didn't want Rivet City to perish, and I know the achievements for helping House and the Legion are going to be the same, because I don't want to hand over the wasteland to them! House is (as the ending screens say, I looked) a despot, and the Legion is cruel. Leea (talk) 23:09, November 5, 2013 (UTC)

I'll see what I can do in the coming days, man. Thanks for taking over, and good luck with everything. If you ever need help, I'll be here for you. Dead Gunner's SMG JPG1 "Semper Invictus" 23:14, November 5, 2013 (UTC)

Yes Man

He never said exactly why he felt that way. I considered him a friend even though I never understood his decision I just hopped & continue to hope he might return one day.

I can only infer from his last comments that Yes-Man some how felt unappreciated by the chain of command at the time. I have no details. It all felt cryptic and uncomfortable to me but I had no choice. All I could do was respect his right to do what he felt was best for him.

SaintPain TinySaintPainHere to help." 02:12, November 6, 2013 (UTC)

From what I can recall, he just felt he needed to move on with his life in the real world and didn't have time to spend here anymore, not so much that he felt unappreciated (at least in the end). He's become a bit of a legend (if he reads this, probably brings a smile to his face); had a lot of charisma and positive energy over him that made this place more alive and inspiring. I noticed his avatar in chat today by chance, that was a surprise for all I think. Maybe he'll respond if you send him a message on his talkpage. Jspoel Speech Jspoel 14:39, November 6, 2013 (UTC)
^ Js is right. Talk page me and I'll probably see it when I log in every blue moon. Just because I'm not around doesn't mean I don't exist, lol Yes Man defaultUser Avatar talk 23:22, November 6, 2013 (UTC)

Testblog

Looks ok there,e you sure you want it wiped? Agent c (talk) 20:46, November 6, 2013 (UTC)

Brandon Fox

How could I not remember you? You always had the best comments on my polls, plus you're a Silent Hill 2 fan. I don't find many of those believe it or not. I see you're doing the polls; feel free to use my template. That's assuming you want to do the same format as I did. I can also make you a banner if you want. Sort of like the one I made for the Hole (I don't know if they're still using that or whatever). Yes Man defaultUser Avatar talk 23:21, November 6, 2013 (UTC)

You know what life's like. Life is life, neither here nor there. If that makes sense... I dunno, sometimes I just talk shit. Actually scratch that, I talk shit all the time. Anyway good luck with the polls. If you want any tips or anything let me know. The most fun is seeing how many comments you can get each week lol. See if you can beat my record of 330 comments on Week 3. The key to it isn't so much the polls. People come there to laugh a bit every week. Tell jokes, tell stories, have little anecdotes and questions and stuff.
Put as many gimmicks as you can, like how I used to choose people's best comments and quote my favourite five every week. Try your best to respond to as many comments as you can where appropriate. Get conversations going, have fun. Don't be afraid to ask controversial questions; my first and last poll was which Fallout game was the best and that got plenty of people talking. You really gotta create a public persona that people can relate to. Be everyone's friend, y'know. Sometimes it can be a drag writing up the blog every weekend but overall its pretty fun to see the community all coming together for something they can all enjoy. That's really all you gotta do; put a smile on a few faces once a week. Also, pretty pictures and graphics always help for small-brained peons like myself who get intimidated by big words lol Yes Man defaultUser Avatar talk 23:54, November 6, 2013 (UTC)

Well either way I just made a banner if you want to use it.
I was trying to think of a Fallout character to use but then I thought fuck it, why can't I just use James Sunderland?

Saturday Polls - 1

Nice job on the polls, I enjoyed the humor in your writing... I like the banner as well

  • Nothing will surpass the excellence found in your test poll though :P --MountHail (talk) 05:20, November 9, 2013 (UTC)

Good job with the polls, only suggestion I would have is try and break up your text a bit more into paragraphs.

Good to see a banner and the template back. Good Job. Agent c (talk) 21:34, November 9, 2013 (UTC)

Quotes from your blog removed

Brandon, great work with the polls but I had to remove a lot of quotes at the top. It's showing the rotating content coding (content1= content2= etc) at our main page which is bad advertising for our wiki. There's only one quote left now, using the quotation template. If you want a new one tomorrow, change the quote text. I'm not sure it's solvable, we'll have to ask external resources. Jspoel Speech Jspoel 01:11, November 10, 2013 (UTC)

EVA

To be honest I haven't watched that show since I was a little kid who shouldn't have been staying up late to watch anime like Neon Genesis Evangelion, Bubblegum Crisis or Martian Successor Nadesico (none of which I really understood, but I thoroughly enjoyed the giant robot battles). Regardless, I haven't watched anime for a very, very long time. Lost a lot of interest in it. But recently I got into it again and now I've been going back and revisiting all those shows I never quite understood but still loved as a kid.
Still my main interest in recent months has been that new Hannibal TV series. Silence of the Lambs is my all time favourite movie, and even though Mads Mikkelsen is nowhere near as good as Anthony Hopkins, I still like watching it. You should check it out. Nice and creepy for a Silent Hill fan like yourself. Yes Man defaultUser Avatar talk 02:42, November 14, 2013 (UTC)

Did I say that? Huh. I must've.
Regardless I'm here now. I don't know about blogging, because there's still plenty of editing to do. Besides I'm pretty sure everyone's moved on from me by now. But if there's new Apprentice seasons or whatever I'll join them like usual; all depends if I have time to follow them through. That's why I dropped out of the competition the first time, had too much going on. But if you ever need a hand on the polls just drop me a line.
I don't want to brag but I'd like to think I turned them from a bi-weekly distraction to something so much more. Wikia was advertising Nukapedia by linking users to my polls on other sites. And I didn't even ask them to. I was getting heaps of suggestions every week from anons and users on what to put in the polls next. In fact I still have a list of unused suggestions at the bottom of my sandbox (feel free to use them). I was just over the whole routine. But you seem to be doing a good job at it. A few tips for your second edition - when I wrote the introductions at the top, I did a few different things every week. Generally you want this part to be the most interesting but not too personal or anything, just to get people interested. All the personal stuff goes at the bottom beneath the polls. I used to mix up the greetings every week:

  • "Good morning voters and welcome to the Weekly Saturday Polls! I'm your host, Yes-Man, but you can call me Yessie."
  • "Is that a bird? Is it a plane? No, its the Weekly Saturday Polls! And his trusty sidekick, Yes-Man!"
  • "Greetings folks, and welcome to the Super Mutant Beauty Pageant - the great new replacement to the Saturday Polls!"

Just stuff like that. Then you can continue it in the intro. If you used a generic introduction, talk about something that was happening in the news that week. Nothing heavy, just something amusing you might have read. Or you could talk about the possibility of Fallout 4. And then ask a little informal question and say "tell me about it in the comments". Same with if you started the introduction humorously - "This week at the Super Mutant Beauty Pageant, drama erupted. (talk about stupid shit here). So, tell us Nukapedia, who is the most beautiful super mutant of the wasteland? Leave me your vote in the comments. Now I suppose we do have some time for the polls..."; or for the superhero one, talk about your favourite superheroes and get them to tell you theirs.
Basically anything you can do to get them talking and coming back week after week. Then after the polls I used to include a little Fallout related questions that was to be submitted by a user during the week, as you probably remember. When you get suggestions always say who gave them. "Here's a nifty little question from BrandonFox. He asked me: <insert question here>. So tell me, Nukapedia, what do you think about <question>? You can answer based on etc etc blah blah blah. Leave me a comment."
I liked to finish polls off with a little extra chat. "That concludes this week's polls. Stick around if you want to hear my inane ramblings... or not, your choice." Then talk about whatever the hell you want. Your life, the Wiki, current events, etc etc. Feel free to continue it next week. That gets people coming back. Promote other user's blogs or fanfictions or whatever. Make everyone feel included and valued. And as always the show must go on. No matter what's happening in the real world or on the Wiki, your character in the polls perpetuates. That's probably the hardest part of it all. But the goal is to get as many people enjoying themselves as possible, and that's the real beauty of the polls. So put in little informal, prize-less contests or give them user page badges or make them sign someone's friends list or go to an admin's page and make everyone tell them how valued that admin is. Talk about yourself and little by little make even the random anonymous passer-by feel like he's known you for years. I have 20 Saturday Polls in total, I believe. Take the time to go through them from the beginning to the end. The final edition isn't really a great example of what the polls should be, even if it is the most complete in regards to visual presentation. Most of all just keep having fun with it. Yes Man defaultUser Avatar talk 01:24, November 15, 2013 (UTC)

I'm sorry. I don't pay attention to what I'm saying half the time. Yes Man defaultUser Avatar talk 06:20, November 16, 2013 (UTC)

A poll idea .. More than that the topic is questionable

Bear with me here 'cause it is just an idea.

The premise is a poll based on the idea that the player character eats some wild wasteland mushroom from a DLC & get's lost in a delusional cross over world with "My little ponies"..

The quest is rescue the .. Ah, I don't know is there a unicorn princess or some such ?

  • Rescue the pony leader & the reward is you wake up from your doped up daze & find a friendship bracelet that adds 1 to charisma & always boosts karma by 1 level.

The Question is "Would you play it? "

Poll responses could be but not need be limited in any way as it's your show but I suggest just a few as follows.

  • This is the stupidest idea I ever heard but OK I would still play it.
  • OMF What is wrong with you? MY LITTLE PONY MIXED WITH FALLOUT??? ~ I WILL STALK & KILL YOU FOR THE SUGGESTION!!!
  • OMG I WOULD PAY DOUBLE the DLC go'n rate to play that !!!
  • If I was drunk enough I might play it.
  • The fact you even considered this question just made my mom call your mom.. Thanks allot for cancelling our play date!

Do what you like Brother & have fun with it.

Polls

Lets see if we can ruin our ballot-stuffers fun. Can we try a week with no troll options this week? Agent c (talk) 02:40, November 18, 2013 (UTC)

Looks like your Fallout 4 poll has been rigged, Brandon. You could reset the poll by changing something in the poll between <poll> and </poll> and all votes will reset to 0. Jspoel Speech Jspoel 16:44, November 18, 2013 (UTC)

Re: BlackHawkDown

Sorry for not getting to you earlier. Yeah, I love Black Hawk Down. What parts did you cry? I thought some of it was pretty sad, but I don't think it's tear-worthy. I had, at one point, hoped to join the Army Rangers, but I realized how far-fetched it is. Dead Gunner's SMG JPG1 "Semper Invictus" 18:40, November 19, 2013 (UTC)

Yeah, Randy Shughart and Gary Gordon did that at the actual battle, won Medals of Honor for it, too. Kinda sad to think about, I guess. They ended up saving the pilot Mike Durant and he wrote a book about it, if I recall. Check it out sometime if you want. Dead Gunner's SMG JPG1 "Semper Invictus" 19:17, November 20, 2013 (UTC)

Sounds pretty cool, if you need help with that essay, I've been told by my english teachers that I'm a pretty solid essay-writer. I also took a class "War Stories" in which I read Black Hawk Down so I could help you with the facts and details of the battle. It's one of my favorite books. Later, man. Polls

Short answer is, you don't.

Two options really, either just leave it (like I do with the hole), or take a screenshot and replace the poll. Agent c (talk) 21:59, November 22, 2013 (UTC)

Poll Stuff

Yo Fox, you ever need a random video for your polls (doubt you will, I mean this is the internet. But, you never know) Don't hesitate to message me, at least I can say some of the time I spent watching this stuff wasn't be a complete waste of time. I guess I can also come up with some poll ideas, if you need help with that. So, I guess I'm here to help, if you ever need it. --MountHail (talk) 04:39, November 28, 2013 (UTC)
