Detailed walkthrough[]

After DiMA welcomes the Sole Survivor to Acadia, one may interact with Faraday, who sends the player character to find storage devices that should have been delivered, but never arrived. He directs the Sole Survivor to a shipwreck southwest of Acadia, near Southwest Harbor.

On the burning wreck, there is a blue container with some kind of storage drive carriage inside of it. Two storage drives have been detached from the carriage and are sitting on the deck. There is also a locked chest which can be opened with Victoria's key. Recover the two drives from the deck and return to Faraday to collect a reward. It is possible to get up to 400 caps if one chooses the option to ask for more money four times, each with a progressively harder speech check.

Notes[]

Opening the chest is not necessary to actually complete the quest but interacting with it without the key can add extra dialogue.

Bugs[]

  • PCPC Playstation 4Playstation 4 Xbox OneXbox One It is impossible to turn in the quest to Faraday if DiMA dies. [verified]
  • PCPC If one has recovered the data drives and DiMA is dead, the quest can be completed by using the console command setstage xx04B1F6 400. This will remove two data drives from the player character's inventory, complete Data Recovery and update the parent quest, Acadian Ideals.
  • There is a third, unmarked storage drive attached to the carriage in the blue container. It can be collected, but it has no effect on the quest. The ability to collect it appears to be unintentional, as examining the data files shows that the quest has no knowledge of its existence. Even with all three collected, Faraday will still mention a missing third drive, and will only take two of them. Once the quest is complete, the third drive will remain in Misc inventory, with a weight of 6, but it will no longer be quest-tagged. Again, this appears to be unintentional, as the drive will hang nonsensically in the air if it is dropped.
