The Thorn Talk Page

Hey Peace'n Hugs, your comment on The Thorn's talk page really belongs in a blog or on a forum, an article's talk page is about discussing the page itself and not the subject of the page (just so you know for next time).
Anyway, as you're on PC you should be able to just use console commands to leave. if you type in coc goodsprings you will be reported out and placed in Goodsprings (this works for any location, to see the name you need to type, just go to that location's article and look at "cell name" in the info box.) Hopefully that would get you out.

Heb je al gemerkt dat dit ook Nederlander ben? Je was me al opgevallen bij het plaatsen van enkele interwiki links. Je mag mijn afbeeldingen allemaal hebben! 't Is allemaal Wikia dus prima. Ik hoop dat je de boel weer een beetje op kan starten daar. Je hoeft de afbeeldingen niet eens te kopieren; als je dezelfde bestandsnaam gebruikt, verschijnt hij ook op de zusterwiki. Succes! Bedankt :) Ik had het inderdaad al gemerkt, en ik had ook ergens gezien dat je daar op de wikia had aangeboden om te helpen, maar niet echt reactie kreeg.

Gibson garage

Peace, Gibson's garage is geen aparte pagina waard. De world map is Gibon's scrap yard, en het is soms zo dat wanneer je de local map raadpleegt, de locatie anders iets anders wordt genoemd, zoals in dit geval Gibson garage. Maar we beschouwen het hier als Gibson scrap yard = Gibson garage. Het is wel zo dat soms grotere locaties, zoals Dino Dee-lite Motel, wel pagina's heeft voor de verschillende secties, maar deze garage is te klein/heeft te om apart genoemd te worden. Er gebeurt verder ook niets noemenswaardig. Wat je noemt op de Gibson garage kun je kijken om in te passen om Gibson scrap yard. Beide (exterior en interior) kan op 1 pagina. A bit of both, I surmise. Their inherent connection to the pre-War U.S military and/or government is the most likely reason.

Burned Bodies

I removed your image from the Burned body page essentially because it's not noteworthy, but specifically for the following reasons:

Burned bodies only have darker skin; it's not a notable, distinct, or specific trait

There's no need to make a comparison to "normal skin", which itself is subjective

The image is of poor quality; it has two dead people just slumped over eachother.

If you can provide a reason as to why it's notable to keep the image in, then I'd be happy to hear it. And you should forgive me; "ridiculous" was probably not the best word to use in the situation. Thanks. 68.197.229.108 19:39, October 10, 2013 (UTC)

Well no, the women in the picture are of different races entirely; one is Asian and the other is Caucasian. The skin of the burned people is the same type as various other NPCs, but they are set to a slightly darker color; however, many raiders, for example, exhibit this same type of dark or discolored skin, so it wouldn't be noteworthy. And even if this was notable, I don't agree that having two different dead NPCs lying on top of each other would be the best way to showcase this. 68.197.229.108 19:53, October 10, 2013 (UTC)

Burned bodies

it showed up on my comp as that you also removed the image, but it might have been his removal and your edit too soon after so it shows as your edit, idk. Anyway, i don't wanna make this a editwar, dw, i got better stuff to do than keep putting back an image on a page that maybe gets visited twice a month or so under normal conditions.

I removed it, because GECKanon was the original reverter, meaning that his edit is to be considered the status quo until a compromise is reached as described in our policies. Anyways, I appreciate you two working together now, and I hope you both come to a satisfying enough decision.

I think it helps the article to show the difference, but on the other hand, you'll proably visit the page after you just found those bodies, so i guess it doesn't really matter. So let's just keep it the way it is now. --

Community news

Hey Peace,

Just to let you know you need an admin okay to add Category:Community news to a blog. Its just cos we don't want the front page being swamped, so its left to a few pre approved blogs.

I do like the idea though. Would you be able to commit to doing it on a weekly basis, and what days would you be able to update? Thursday is really best for the wiki to balance with everything else. Agent c (talk) 22:13, October 26, 2013 (UTC)

Not much realy to know other than what you said, I only use it for here as our news update service (and for news collection... So much easier to report news when others hand it to you). Bedankt, ik had van Chad eerder al menen op te merken dat hij graag wat meer community had, en met Jasper ook op te houden met een blog te doen, zat ik al een tijdje te denken om een blog op te zetten, alleen had ik niet meteen een idee, het beste dat ik had was om de Thorn te organiseren, maar dat zou al snel te veel lijken op Chad zijn blog, denk ik. Daarom ga ik gewoon minder tijd steken in de nl wikia, aangezien die me vrij hopeloos lijkt, en die tijd dan hier investeren, ik denk dat mensen hier meer plezier zullen hebben aan mijn gespendeerde tijd. Voor mij is het ook leuker dan engelse artikels van hier samenvatten en vertalen. We hebben hier momenteel een leuke en trouwe community, die mogen we zeker niet op hun honger laten zitten, als we die kunnen houden tot de volgende fallout, dan zal deze plaats denk ik bloeien zoals geen enkele andere wikia dat al gedaan heeft :)

Blog

I can definitely see how this might happen again and again. People on the Internet seem to have a problem with skimming through content and ignoring guidelines. Hmm. Maybe you can the last two options blanked out, and after each week, the next one will be opened up with an official image? Better we talk English, so people know what's going on. This was what I was afraid for that would happen. People ignore guidelines and with many knowledgable FNV people here you will have the answers too soon. Make all the images (much) harder, experiment with blurring. Best days for the blog would be Friday, Saturday and Sunday, in weekends when people have free time (and we have the most visitors). Save your blog for Friday and add your first image with it that day. Experiment with the difficulty. How about a much zoomed image the Friday, then, if it's not guessed, post it together with a zoomed out version (so easier) and the second much zoomed in image on Saturday. Same thing for the Sunday. See how that works. Wait with the blurring then. Not sure about that spoiler button, if it's guessed, it's guessed. But this way we have at least a challenge each day. If you know in advance you can't make it the weekend, send your image to Agent c or me by e-mail (I have it enabled and Agent c probably too). We can post it for you. Provide us with additional text for each image/day if you can. How's that sound? Jspoel

To make it a bit more interesting I've been thinking about adding a (combinated) soundfile to your blog as an extra, where people have to guess who it belongs to and at what point it is said. Nuka Break

Saw your post on Jspoel's page (you forgot to sign your name, by the way). Can't recall if it has developer's support. Some while ago we discussed the same issue with Fallout: Lanius which also seems to have dev's support which could make for the exception. I've been thinking about the release date of your Hide and Seek blog. Can you move it one day back? So not start Friday but Thursday and continue to Saturday. Sunday the results. Weapons

Weapon pages are highly sensitive pages, they are the most visited. Quality is very important here. So I made changes to most of your edits on those pages, rewriting captions and sometimes removing them because the weapon is not clearly visible. Jspoel 22:35, November 7, 2013 (UTC)

You can continue, just keep my notes in mind and if you find more good ones, you can add them. If a note section is reasonably large and the picture is (really) nice, you can add it as a thumbnail image to the location section. Otherwise add it to the gallery with a good description like I did. Not finding location (that's dutch rather badly translated :). Jspoel

Patroller rights

I've had to think a while about this request. I like to see plenty of mainspace edits which you are lacking a bit, but your involvement in the community and seeing a good amount of undo's (which proves you monitor the recent changes steadily ) makes up for it enough. Climbing the ranks

Yes, I was pretty sure it would happen after so much commotion (nr. 3 now in the Video Games WAM list). As it looks now, it was partially a hoax, but we can thank the one who made it happen (Tumbler) and we still have the Survivor site that keeps the spark for Fallout 4 alive for now. Junk door

Thanks for the work, but the junk door is not important enough for an own page. It belongs on the Fallout 3 and New Vegas miscellaneous world objects page and needs a GECK image. Local maps aren't the right color, needs to be to Mojave sand color. I'll replace the night stalker egg clutch image too. It hurts the eye... Jspoel 23:52, November 23, 2013 (UTC)

Night stalker egg clutch

The infobox provides a link to the world object page. The term "world object" is too vague to cover everything, so we can't use it for that page. If we keep a world objects page and actually complete it (it's only 10-20%% complete really) it will boil over and be impossible to navigate. I've been talking with GarouxBloodline about a new plan for containers. If this happens, not every container will have a page like they do now. I appreciate your effort, but can you hold off on creating container pages for now? Local maps

You get hangs of the maps I see. Maps are meant to be ratio 7:4 and the latest one just about has that ratio. The arrow should still be removed from the map (brush tool). Simple maps (f.e. minor caves) don't need a local map. Scorpion burrow narrowly qualifies I reckon. Jspoel 17:07, November 24, 2013 (UTC)

Overlinking

Now that's the million dollar question right now. I guess if the other links are spread "erratically" then leave the links. Mostly they are (?), so most links should stay. Thanks for uploading and adding the Italian flag for the WWII period. You can probably understand why I haven't uploaded the Nazi Germany one yet... It's all part of the Fallout Wiki:Military conflicts project, which I've had to abandon recently due to too many other things going on now. So I just discussed this with Agent c, and it seems that there's no problem from Wikia for uploading these types of images, as long as there is a bona fide use for it (which we have). As for it being abused by others, we'll catch on quickly enough to deal with them separately.
