Mod proposal

Hey Gunny. I've thrown my proposal together and it can be viewed here. Let me know if you have anything you'd like to add/subtract. FollowersApocalypseLogonihil novi sub sole 01:29, April 4, 2013 (UTC)

I can live with conditional votes, as long as they don't get too complicated. There is already a mandatory condition for the second vote, and as long as everybody follows that I think it'll be fine. I'll post a link to the rough proposal for Js and get his opinion on it before I move forward. FollowersApocalypseLogonihil novi sub sole 21:54, April 4, 2013 (UTC)

Grandeur

Wasn't able to start work yesterday, but I managed a minor list and cross-reference pad today. Work starts up again tomorrow, so I'll try and get back with you over this on Monday. ForGaroux Some Assembly Required! 01:09, April 5, 2013 (UTC)

User rights thread

Follower's working on a proposal that removes the moderator request. I'm sure you're aware of it. This also made me consider re-evaluating the admin requirement. What do you think of raising that to 1,250 main namespace edits? I've heard people (especially admins) are setting their standards higher and higher before voting yes on admin's requests. We've noticed it with Theo. And another thing Hal10k and KristofferAG are long eligible for removal of rights. I suggest we do that. They are inactive for more than a year. At the moment the inactive period for removal of rights is 9 months. What do you say we suggest upping that to a year? I think 9 months is too short after all. And then we have GhostAvatar. What do we do about him? I suggest we contact him in a while what his plans are. In any case, we should not remove his rights after 9 months in my opinion. That's too soon. A year, then ask Wikia to remove it, if he decides not to return or not answer our mail. Jspoel Speech Jspoel 19:18, April 5, 2013 (UTC)

Question

Hi Gunny. I was trying to edit with IE10 the other day, and I realised that my British English spell-checker was not working on any Wikia site. It was only checking in American English, despite the settings being for Br. E. and having that display on all other sites basically. I was wondering if you are aware that Wikia has a separate software/program for spell-check in source mode? --Skire (talk) 22:37, April 5, 2013 (UTC)

Check user

Gunny, I completely understand what you're saying. There is no abusive behavior, (Well, except for belittling a drug habit) but what I need to see isn't whether they're the same, rather, what country do they come from?--TwoBearsHigh-Fiving Intercom01 18:21, April 7, 2013 (UTC)

Stuff

I've hardly seen any instances in the past few months that an admin needed to revert the blanking of a talkpage. Doesn't give that much problems, the revertal is mostly justified because 9 out of 10 it's to hide a warning. I've also seen bonafide removals of a welcome message which is ok by me. Don't see the real need of the notice tab, but I guess you can ask the community again in a forum thread what they think of it now.

Also, you may have missed it but Wikia staff added the image toggler to our infoboxes. If you add |imagetoggler = true to a page with multiple infobox images you can see the result (Leather armor (Fallout). At first Wikia added it to our common.css applying it to all pages but that didn't look right, so I asked to revert that. Try it on a page with 1 normal image in the infobox, you'll see what I mean.

And I have some concerns about the bug category. I've deleted an earlier post to you about this, and want to take another look at that. Jspoel Speech Jspoel 01:27, April 10, 2013 (UTC)

You can work on it but I'm not crazy about it and don't see much purpose from the examples I've seen... About Fallout 4, time we create a forum gameplay/general discussion link to it like the other Fallout games. We can move the forum threads about Fallout 4 to it. Mods

Hey Gunny,

As resident "Gun Guy", and trying to deal with a situation with an editor I think we're both aquanted with, I was wondering how feasable it might be to add a mod section to the weapons infobox? Agent c (talk) 15:47, April 10, 2013 (UTC)

Basically some positive confirmation that there is no mod to find. I was thinking that maybe a section in the infobox that listed any mods (with none for none)... But I think you're right on the length thing, it is risking information overload as it is. Agent c (talk) 20:31, April 10, 2013 (UTC)
In the main article space I definately agree with you. If we were to mention the absence of something, our articles would be overloaded with nonsense information. Agent c (talk) 20:38, April 10, 2013 (UTC)

Fallout 4 added to forum and navigation menu

Your suggestions concerning the navigation menu are ok. Good work also with the move of the relating Fallout 4 topics. What do you think about that bug category? Do we really need it? Bleep is the only one working on it, and he has all the information in his sandbox where he can keep track of things. It's not like there will be a storm of edits/complete bug sections to process in the sandbox, can be done manually easy enough. And people may add bugs to page again, and the bug category wouldn't apply anymore. Don't feel the need for this category right now. Jspoel Speech Jspoel 17:44, April 12, 2013 (UTC)

Oh, and you take care of the removal of admin rights of Hal10k and KristofferAG, ok? Jspoel Speech Jspoel 17:47, April 12, 2013 (UTC)

You mean creating categories for Fallout 4, like the Fallout 4 voice actors category you created in your sandbox? And once we know what the new game's name is, rename them, right? Don't see too many problems coming from it. You can go ahead and make a head start. Jspoel Speech Jspoel 14:35, April 14, 2013 (UTC)

Robot and creatures article template

This is strange. {{Create article/creature robot/FO4}} has an entirely different creature stat box than we use on the pages. Special is included and attributes are missing. Jspoel Speech Jspoel 21:42, April 15, 2013 (UTC)

Consensus

I'm afraid that the only consensus that can be achieved at this point in time is if one party gives up, or ends up being removed for any reason. That being said, I'm outnumbered, so I'm going to have to go through you to moderate things.

So... what?

I suppose I could give up right? I could be wrong, they could be right; I could be right, they could be wrong. But if that's the case, why should I bother editing at all? It just becomes a matter of reinforcing popular opinion. I can make all the arguments I want; they can be sound, or they may not. But either way, I will state that this is not going to be any more productive.

If you consider me to be at the heart of the problem, then I suppose I'll just pack up stakes and leave.

Creature and robot template

I see you discovered some old templates and deleted them. No one ever thought about it till now since Porter left I guess... You added 6 attack and ability possibilities to the creature/robot template. I've only seen uses up till 3, maybe a few occasions 4. Isn't 3 enough as a standard? Jspoel Speech Jspoel 20:17, April 18, 2013 (UTC)

Charts

Hey Gunny, I was beginning to bring the charts into FO1 quests. The thing is, 2 of them are broken (Solve Phil's Canine Conundrum and Stop the Radscorpions). So, can you fix those two templates? Energy X Signature0 22:11, April 18, 2013 (UTC)

Eh, Paladin117 has already fixed the issue... Energy X Signature0 22:12, April 18, 2013 (UTC)

Save Killian chart

Hey Gunny, the rewards part of the chart is wrong - the XP and Reputation reward can be only given if the Vault Dweller accepts Killian's quest and not that he refuses it. Energy X Signature0 18:16, April 20, 2013 (UTC)

Inactive bots

I'd say just remove the bot flag, but you don't have to block any of them. If they don't have a bot flag, they're just as any normal user and we don't block those because they're inactive. Charitwo has gone a similar way Ausir did by the looks of it. Changed employer and probably did something to annoy Wikia. Jspoel Speech Jspoel 19:14, April 20, 2013 (UTC)

New Message Glitch

I have a feeling that you've already noticed this, but I'll go ahead and throw the spotlight on it just in-case. It appears that when visiting a page and getting the 'New Message' pop-up for the first time, even after going to your TP and having it registered that you've checked the new message, it re-appears after visiting the previous page again. For instance, I was on Chad's TP when I got the NUN message from you. After checking the message, every time I visit Chad's TP now, the old pop-up re-appears. Welcome Message

Hey, Gunny, I think the wiki welcome message that appears on new users' talk pages after they've made their first edit may be broken. A couple new users that have shown up and edited haven't had that on their talk pages such as User:Mr. Mantha. If this was disabled or some such disregard this message. Toughpigs said they'd been having trouble with it when I asked about it on Megami Tensei Wiki. Haven't checked to see if it was working today there. It was also doing something weird earlier where welcome messages using our signature with @latest would show up in our user contributions. Great Mara (talk) 07:13, April 26, 2013 (UTC)

Gunny, those shortcuts from VA to FW are being fixed as we speak. So that you're informed. Jspoel Speech Jspoel 22:41, April 29, 2013 (UTC)

Hey Gunny. I caught your last message to Jspoel (whilst snooping). Did I mess something up? I was testing out AWB with the shortcuts and then manually creating the new ones. Is there another way it's supposed to be done? --Skire (talk) 19:44, April 30, 2013 (UTC)

Pheww, alright then. Thanks. --Skire (talk) 19:49, April 30, 2013 (UTC)

OK, my bot is working on it as we speak. --Skire (talk) 01:24, May 1, 2013 (UTC)
I have programmed my bot to check all redirects that link to the pages in question (in the category you linked for me). I've been going page by page with 'what links here' so I cover all of them. Is there something more? --Skire (talk) 01:33, May 1, 2013 (UTC)
Hi Gunny. Sorry for my sudden leave last night, but I am going to continue and try to finish off the updates now. --Skire (talk) 19:37, May 1, 2013 (UTC)
Roger that. And one more thing: My bot seems to have gotten stuck on a user blog, so I'm wondering does it need sysop rights in order to edit certain pages? If so, could you provide them for the bot? --Skire (talk) 19:43, May 1, 2013 (UTC)

──────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────── OK, so I believe all of the updating is completed. However, there may be a few odd errors, one of which is on Special:WhatLinksHere/Fallout_Wiki:F, where it lists the forum index as being a page linking to Fallout_Wiki:F. --Skire (talk) 20:26, May 1, 2013 (UTC)

Hey Gunny. Just wanted to check in and make sure you received the last message. All the updating is done and I believe some of the redirects still need to be deleted. The above listed example is an anomaly I can't figure out though... --Skire (talk) 01:04, May 3, 2013 (UTC)
I see. Very well then, if you need me or my bot for anything else, please let me know. --Skire (talk) 01:35, May 3, 2013 (UTC)

Template example images

Those newer templates (like {{Infobox incomplete}}) which we ported over from The Vault and use {{Mbox management}} don't give examples anymore how the template looks like. The older ones (like {{Merge}}) that use the {{Mbox}} template do give an example. Recently a user added the stub template to {{Stub/doc}} to show an the example but it's not proper procedure. Now that doc template is added to the Stub category. You think you might be able to solve it? I'd like to have those examples back on the templates if possible. Hi there!
After hunting for that CSS bug in more exotic locales for two days, I'm back :) Again: Sorry about wasting your time with a false positive! Sometimes it's hard to know where to start :(
It also looks like I jumped to conclusions about the amount of CSS skill you guys have! It sure looks like you have that covered. That renders my request for adminship pointless. Forget I ever mentioned it, please! My offer to help if you guys need help with JS or CSS still stands though. Just holler!
So you've asked me if I know of pages with really large tables other than Fallout_3_perks... That's actually the largest one I'm aware of. But my knowledge of your wiki is - if that isn't perfectly obvious by now - very limited :) -- pecoes 17:22, May 09, 2013 (UTC)

Out of curiosity: I noticed that both you and GarouxBloodline use custom backgrounds for your user pages. Is it just the two of you who do this, or is this a custom here? -- pecoes 02:56, May 10, 2013 (UTC)

You gave me an idea with that one: How about a bit of JS that loads CSS that's specific to user pages? It's simple too, so I went ahead and wrote it right away: w:c:dev:SexyUserPage. Just add the script to a wiki's MediaWiki:Wikia.js and then every user can spruce up his pages by creating a CSS file just for himself :) -- pecoes 22:35, May 10, 2013 (UTC)
