Help Grahm host a clean, delicious, and lively cookout.

Event: Grahm's Meat-Cook is a seasonal public event in Fallout 76, introduced in the Nuclear Winter update. It is part of the Meat Week community event. It starts at the top of every hour (at XX:00). The event restarts if the previous hour's instance was not completed.

Grahm is still available as a vendor while the event is ongoing. Some of the outfit pieces he can randomly award when the quest is completed might be available for purchase from his vendor inventory instead.

Quick walkthrough[]

FO76 Quest Meat
Event: Grahm's Meat-Cook
Talk to Grahm for instructions.
Run a successful cookout by continuously performing the necessary tasks.
Reward: Varies depending on results of cookout.

Detailed walkthrough[]

FO76 questanim meatcook

When the Vault Dwellers arrive at Grahm's cookout spot, he will ask for their help in running the festivities. It may be found northwest of the moonshiner's shack, and south of Vault 76. The billboard outside of Vault 76 on the cliffside can still be seen from the spot.

To properly celebrate Meat Week, the players must perform a number of tasks in order to maintain a success meter displayed in the top right corner of the UI. The more filled the meter is, the better the rewards given at the end of the event. Chally the moo-moo is not for eating.

Tasks[]

Atx header grahm

To contribute to the progress bar, the player can perform several specific tasks in and around the cookout grounds:

  • Continuously turn one of the three cooking spits located on the north end of the grounds
    • +0.08% per second progress per meat spit being turned and an additional +0.08% bonus progress if all meat spits are being turned (doubling the contribution).
  • Continuously play the drums located on a small raised stage on the southern end.
    • +0.08% per second progress per instrument played and an additional +0.08% bonus progress if all instruments are being played (doubling the contribution).
    • Although not immediately reflected by the UI, both of the continuous tasks contribute toward the progress bar during the "wait for the cookout to begin" stage.
  • Collect critter chunks by killing and looting the various critters, such as chickens, rabbits, squirrels and opossums, around the grounds, then depositing the chunks into the "snack cart" (a shopping cart occupied by a carcass of an opossum) on the eastern side of the grounds.
    • +1.6% progess for every critter chunk donated.
  • Collect greens from verdant green plants located in the foliage surrounding the grounds, then depositing them into the cooler on the eastern side of the grounds, adjacent to the snack cart.
    • +1.6% progess for every greens donated.
  • Donate five wood scraps onto the pile of kindling at the center of the campsite. This can be repeated after a short delay from the last time it was activated.
    • +0.32% progress for every 5 wood added. 30 second cooldown on wood donations. Wood must be on you, not in your stash/scrap box.
  • Donate Chally's feed to Chally's feed pile. It may be crafted on the spot at the cooking station in the center of the campsite.
    • +2% progress for every Chally's Greens added. 30 second cooldown. These may be cooked in advance.
    • The recipe may only be purchased from Grahm during Meat Week (he still acts as a vendor), however the item is not instanced per player - meaning another player can beat the rest to it.
    • Chally the moo-moo may be milked while at the campsite, but is added to the "recent loot" loot, which prevents farming.
  • Clean up rotten leftovers and "stinky piles" around the grounds, represented by small greyish piles of brahmin skulls or dung piles respectively. Sometimes, Grahm will comment when Chally leaves a "stinky pile" so it can be cleaned up quickly.
    • 19 Rotten Leftovers food piles spawn at the start of the event and don't respawn.
    • Maximum of 3 Poo piles spawn every 30 seconds.
  • Extinguish the brush fires near Grahm's grills, signified by blackened patches of grass on fire.
    • Maximum of 10 fires spawn every 30 seconds.

Every fire not extinguished and every leftover food or poo pile not cleaned up casues a .02% drain on progress every second. If left unattended, this can cause a 0.48% drain every second.

Progress bar[]

Numerical values reflect the progress added by each action. Once accounted for, a small animation of Grahm cooking will play. Players need to achieve at least 50% progress to pass the event if the timer expires, which provides the baseline performance. Reaching 75% will grant good performance rewards and 100% will instantly complete the event with the best rewards. To recap, actions that progress are:

  • Donate Chally's feed: +2% every 30 seconds.
  • Deposit greens: +1.60% per item, no cooldown.
  • Deposit critter chunks: +1.60% per item, no cooldown.
  • Donate wood: +0.32% progress every 30 seconds.
  • Turn meat spits: +0.08% per tick or +0.16% (if all are in use).
  • Play musical instruments: +0.08% per tick or +0.16% (if all are in use).

The most time-effective way to contribute are critter chunks, as the critters can be targeted in VATS and consistently drop the chunks, and just 10 are enough to add 16% to the bar. The least effective ways are Chally's feed and wood donations, due to their 30 second timer. In that same amount of time, a single drum or meat spit adds 2.4%, while a fully occupied stage or spit platform would add 14.4% (as the contribution is doubled if all spots are occupied).

Numerical values reflect the progress subtracted per tick, per active item.

  • Rotten leftovers (max 19, don't respawn): -0.02% per tick each; spawns anywhere around Grahm's kitchen (2500 unit radius)
  • Stinky piles (max 3, respawn every 30 seconds): -0.02% per tick each.
  • Brush fires (max 10, respawn every 30 seconds): -0.02% per tick each.

Prime meat[]

FO76 questanim primalcuts

If the player has recently completed the Primal Cuts event, they can deposit their prime meat in the large cooking cauldron, the adjacent open grills or the spit-roasting yao guai at the center of the Meat-Cook area. Prime meat may only be donated in stacks of five, and only three times per Meat Cook.

In addition to filling the progress bar, each stack of meat will be exchanged for five Legendary scrip, for a total of 15 FO76 Legendary scrip. Additionally, each stack of prime meat donated will buff the player with an increasing degree of meat sweats, the effects of which are as follows:

Donation Effect Bonus (Duration 15 min)
5 (one stack) Mild meat sweats  · Taking damage may result in gaseous discharge
 · Hunger does not decay
10 (two stacks) Meat sweats  · Taking damage may result in gaseous discharge
 · Hunger does not decay
 · +15 maximum HP
15 (three stacks) Strong meat sweats  · Taking damage may result in gaseous discharge
 · Hunger does not decay
 · +30 maximum HP
 · +5% bonus XP

The Strong Meat sweats effect prevents players from exchanging Prime meat to Legendary scrip, essentially limiting the conversion rate even if they can join the event twice in short succession (e.g. by connecting to a different server). It also prevents the exchange if the player quits the session before the effect wears off and logs in shortly before the event starts again.

Completion[]

Once the timer runs out, or if the meter is completely maxed, the event will conclude. The event rewards are given depending on how high the meter is at the time of completion. The better the meter was, the better the rewards and Grahm's thoughts on it.

Past the first objective, the event is considered "bad performance." Past the second, the event is considered "good performance." At the meter's maximum, the event is considered "best performance." If the meter is below the first objective upon the timer expiring, the event fails and no rewards are distributed.

Grahm has dynamic dialogue dependent on how well the event went. The commentary ranges from sad disappointment (if the event ends in failure), all the way to joyful praise and singing should the event finish perfectly.

Rewards[]

Each reward in the "Meat Week item" list has a 6.25% chance to drop, however, items contained in the nested lists will have a 1.56% chance to drop.[1]
