The plans for combat implants can be found in Vault 8 of Vault City with the quest Gain combat implants. The two can be improved once but, given the scars left, drain 1 point in Charisma.

Dermal impact armor[]
The Dermal Impact Armor operation consists of Combat armor plates grafted to the patient's skeleton, constituting a level one combat implant that grants the recipient an additional 5% resistance against normal and explosive attacks. The operation requires a suit of combat armor, two days to perform and:
- Redding: $5000
- San Francisco: $5500
- Vault City: $7000 (discount to $5000 with CH 6 or Barter 75%)
The implant can be upgraded to a level 2 (Dermal Impact Assault Enhancement) for another 5% resistance with another suit of combat armor, 5 days to perform at a permanent loss of one Charisma point. Costs:
- Redding: $30,000
- San Francisco: $33,000
- Vault City: $40,000 (discount to $30,000 with CH 6 or Barter 75%)
Phoenix armor implants[]
The Phoenix Armor Implants operation consists of Thermal and energy dissipative membranes (stripped from a suit of combat armor) surgically implanted into the patient. The implant grants the recipient an additional 5% resistance against plasma, laser and fire weapons. The operation requires a set of combat armor, three days to perform and:
- Redding: $8000
- San Francisco: $8500
- Vault City: $10,000 (discount to $8000 with CH 6 or Barter 75%)
Like the dermal impact armor, it can also be upgraded with an assault enhancement, granting the recipient another 5% additional resistance against plasma, laser, and fire weapons. It requires a suit of combat armor, six days to perform in Redding and Vault City or four in San Francisco, permanent loss of one Charisma point and:
