Tranquility Lane is a virtual reality simulation within Vault 112, designed and programmed by V112 overseer Stanislaus Braun. Braun programmed several simulated utopias, but the vault dwellers had no control over them. Once they entered the virtual reality pods, Braun would exercise complete control over the simulation with no one for them to get out. For the past several decades, the nostalgic cul-de-sac of American suburbia has been the home of ten vault dwellers. Disguised as the sweet and innocent Betty, the deranged Braun continues to use the residents as his playthings, morbidly murdering the residents in various ways, wiping their memory and bringing them back into the simulation. However, Tranquility Lane has a failsafe installed in the abandoned house which turns off the safety protocols of the simulation; should it be activated, the Red Army will sweep through the neighborhood and legitimately kill the residents.
