Vic's vote

I'm a bit confused about your edit on SaintPain's thread. Did you get permission of Victor to put it there and why can't he do it himself? Also, the vote is in the wrong place. Jspoel Speech Jspoel 15:03, November 8, 2013 (UTC)

Loot

I like the new layout for area loot. It looks great! The percentages will be a little tricky to get. "FactoryLoot", for example, may have a 75% of appearing can could contain "LootAmmo", which would have a 50% chance of spawning and would contain a variable amount of 10mm ammo, which would each have a 25% chance of spawning. Basically, it would require a lot of unnecessary math for each value, especially with something like caps or ammo, whose count could range from one to 100l; it's not difficult, but it's time consuming. If you really think it's necessary, though, then we could add percent values in. 69.l25 (talk) 19:22, November 10, 2013 (UTC)

I'm actually going to try adding percentages in to the example in my sandbox just to see what it's like. Maybe it won't be all that tedious after all. 69.l25 (talk) 19:28, November 10, 2013 (UTC)
There's a little bit of an issue: leveled items. I forgot that some items/item counts will appear only at certain player levels. And what about characters that have randomized loot on them? I'm thinking we're going to have to make a "Fallout X Leveled Items" page where we could have things like "Caps75Leveled", and explain the % and levels required for any amount of caps to spawn. Then we could add "Caps75Leveled" into the list of loot in "SafeLoot" for example. I'll try editing my sandbox to show this. 69.l25 (talk) 19:45, November 10, 2013 (UTC)
Okay, I have a plan. Here's what I think we should do for out locations page. You should be able to navigate through what I set up on each page. 69.l25 (talk) 20:15, November 10, 2013 (UTC)

Background property

You should be able to use the background property to do that. Here's an example from our own infobox headers that use a background image:

.va-infobox-title {
   background: #044D22 url(http://images.wikia.com/fallout/images/d/d1/WidgetBackground.jpg?1);
   border: 1px solid #000;
   color: #FFF;
   text-align: center;
   vertical-align: middle;
   width: 100%;

Take a look and see if that works. There's also the W3 school page on the background property you can check out. The Gunny  UserGunny chevrons 21:05, November 11, 2013 (UTC)

There's a lot of common html and css stuff that doesn't mesh well with wikia's mediawiki software. There's a bunch of tags that don't work on here and come css stuff gets weird. Check out what W3 has on it and see if you can get it to work. The Gunny  UserGunny chevrons 21:25, November 11, 2013 (UTC)

Re: Special Rights

Hi Leon, thank you for your support. I have considered running and several people have told me that it may be a good idea. My issue with running at the moment is that to run for mod I am essentially running for chat mod rights. I don't think I am in chat enough to warrant running for that at the present moment, although admittedly I am active where we need moderation most, especially since Richie is currently on hiatus. I'm not sure to be honest, but I appreciate your support nonetheless. FollowersApocalypseLogosectatorapocalypsis 05:27, November 14, 2013 (UTC) Yeah I understand your reasoning. The problem is that a while ago, we made moderator a pure combination of patroller and chat mod - those with one seek the rights of the other to become a moderator. So in essence to make me a mod I have to make a chat mod request. We made the change because there were patrollers who were running for moderator and a few failed because there was confusion about the difference between requests. On top of that, I actually wrote the new requirements and spearheaded the vote to have them changed. It would seem hypocritical of me to attempt to bypass the system I put in place, don't you think? I'm going to make myself more present in chat over the next bit and if I think I can be elected I will run. Otherwise I will continue to edit normally and perhaps make an admin request down the road. Again, thanks for the support. FollowersApocalypseLogosectatorapocalypsis 06:00, November 14, 2013 (UTC)

Public service announcement

I come out of bed as all this excitement about Fallout 4 keeps me awake and I see your public service announcement. You last remark "Us Fallout fans already get a bad rep after-all" isn't that smart because I wasn't aware at all we had a bad rep and second you're putting thoughts in the reader's minds that isn't benefical for us. So my request is to remove that line. Thanks. Jspoel Speech Jspoel 03:45, November 16, 2013 (UTC)

Loot example

Any feedback on the randomized loot example? If we go about dealing with loot this way, we're going to need to start going through the GECK and digging info out. 69.l25 (talk) 19:53, November 16, 2013 (UTC)

I don't know how to go about a data dump, sorry. And sorry for taking so long to reply. I wasn't ignoring you! 69.l25 (talk) 00:42, November 17, 2013 (UTC)
The GECK actually lists the location of, well, everything. So, we can find the location of all safes, for example, and when we find out what type it is (factory, metro, etc.) we can find out what things it will have inside. Since you're thinking of listing everything, like pencils, which are fixed, we can use the same process for that. 69.l25 (talk) 01:26, November 17, 2013 (UTC)

NMA

Hey Garoux, I was over at NMA because I want to hear what they had to say on this Fallout 4 tease... I was reading through the comments and one stood out at me, mainly due to the way it was written... Then, I look over at the username, lo and behold it was you. I don't know why but it was cool to see you over there trying to be reasonable, Too bad your insight got some negativity from the regulars on there. Oh well... see ya around --MountHail (talk) 05:22, November 18, 2013 (UTC)

The voice of reason

Yeah, already read (and enjoyed) it... It's kinda sad that they removed your comments on the grounds that they didn't like what you had to say. --MountHail (talk) 05:29, November 18, 2013 (UTC)

Your comments

I followed your comments on NMA and I have to say you made a good point. The fact they removed your comments solely based on the fact that they didn't agree with you just proves to me that that site is beyond fixing. We're the preeminent Fallout community now, whether they or TV like it or not. I say we pay them no attention from this point on. No need to fuel the flames. FollowersApocalypseLogosectatorapocalypsis 05:59, November 18, 2013 (UTC) I remember NMA from back when I first played FO2 in 2001. It was a good community, it was diverse in opinion and you could actually get real help and advice from there, but now it's just all hatred towards Bethesda. They've alienated the vast majority of people with their attitude and complain about it. Nostalgia is one thing but every time I go back I don't feel nostalgic I'm just reminded why I left. I feel the same with the Vault. I wonder why they don't just admit defeat. FollowersApocalypseLogosectatorapocalypsis 06:12, November 18, 2013 (UTC)

Mod

Based on the fact that I have been in chat several times recently and found no moderation, I am considering your suggestion more thoroughly now. If all this Fallout 4 news actually has any credibility, chat is going to get a lot busier in the near future. I've asked Duncan (Neko) to run his script and see if there are gaps in coverage where I think there are before officially running. If that holds true, would you be willing to be my admin endorsement? I would appreciate it. FollowersApocalypseLogosectatorapocalypsis 23:05, November 18, 2013 (UTC) Alright, I guess it's a go for sometime in the near future. I'll probably work on it in the next few days. I had multiple people tell me today that I should run, so I guess now is as good of a time as any. I'll let you know when the forum is up and you can add your endorsement, unless there's a different protocol. I'm not too familiar with the whole process. FollowersApocalypseLogosectatorapocalypsis 03:14, November 19, 2013 (UTC)

Re: Critical Effects

I thought about that, but there's really not enough to say about each effect to have each one get their own page. At most, we could make a page called "Fallout 3 Critical Effects," but it would be very minimal. 69.l25 (talk) 23:31, November 19, 2013 (UTC)

Sounds good. As for the randomized loot and container pages, I'll try to fill my sandboxes up with data for them as soon as possible, which might take a while. I'll keep you posted and let you know if there's anything specific you can do. 69.l25 (talk) 23:36, November 19, 2013 (UTC)

Is there any way you could take a look at Melissa Lewis's talk page? I know it's off topic, but I'm still looking for some discussion about what to call the article, and it's been quiet as of recently. 69.l25 (talk) 23:40, November 19, 2013 (UTC)

I can't wait so see what you've been working on! I'm sure it'll be great, and I'm glad to hear that you'll be more active on the mainspace articles soon. 69.l25 (talk) 23:42, November 19, 2013 (UTC)

Re: Obsidian

I understand your hesitance, and normally I am cautious as well. I re-added that one because I always associated the one with the other (being an RC fan myself), so the I viewed the confirmation with perhaps less caution as I should have. I really hope nothing sinister is going on, but with the amount of apparent adversaries we seem to have, it wouldn't surprise me. P.S. why is your talk page centered? It makes the indenting look odd. Hey Leon, check out this guy's recent edits. He's been adding some links to pages that, while technically acceptable, are not practical. I'm not sure how to phrase what he's doing wrong exactly, so I can't really tell him not to do it. Can you take a look have a word with him? Hey Bloodline,

I just created a page that was all true facts and you deleted it before anyone could see it. The site and everything was true and you deleted it. Here is the site:http://thesurvivor2299.com/. I want my page back.

Links again!

Okay, the guy I mentioned before with the links is doing is again. Check out the Chimera page, that's the thing I'm talking about. It's wrong, and I'm not sure how to explain that it's wrong other than by saying that's just the way it is. Maybe speak with him? Blood handprintmorituri te salutamus 04:49, November 21, 2013 (UTC) Alright, I'll trust you to take administrative action should it get out of hand. On another note, if you're looking for some neutral input on the binary guy's edit, I actually kind of agree with him. It is duplicated information, and it does seem a bit weird when reading the whole article to see it mentioned twice, and the one he removed was the passage with far less detail. I would personally re-write the intro paragraph, but if you deem it necessary to remain I'll stand by your word. Blood handprintmorituri te salutamus 04:56, November 21, 2013 (UTC) I saw the revert and I would have reverted it too based on what he did. I don't like butting in to things like this normally, but from the message he left on Chad's page I can tell he is frustrated and I prefer to nip that in the butt before it damages us or him further. Let me know if you want me to message him as a neutral party. Blood handprintmorituri te salutamus 05:03, November 21, 2013 (UTC)

Arbitrary Header 2.0

Hi Bloodline,

Thanks for getting back to me, but you didn't read my page. I have the clear evidence right there, proving that it is in fact a Fallout Website. Please reread my article next time and then get back to me.

Hey Bloodline,

First off, you write back fast. Second, the site does exist and all of the facts are in the sources. IGN did discover the javascript code was in fact named "fallout.js" and that the morse code signal coming form the site was saying "11.12.1312.11.13" which was the date of the countdown timer ending. Not only that, but with the recent Fallout 4 article relating that Bethesda had recently acquired a Fallout 4 title just days after the site, http://thesurvivor2299.com/, was installed. TheSixthAxis made it even clearer when they posted who made the site which was ZeniMax Media Inc., who we all know is linked to Bethesda. Lastly, with the combined information, it proves that there is at all little doubt that this is the official Fallout 4 announcement site. Please reconsider putting back up my page and, even though you have a page on Fallout 4, it does not include the information I have shown.o I also urge you to add that small piece to the blog so there is no information left out. Thank you for your time in listening to my letter.

I do apologize for editing without a complete understanding of how things are conducted on this wiki. I am a new member. I just thought that it was, well confirmed. I had looked up the owner of the domain and found it to be ZeniMax Inc. The same company that owns all of the other Bethesda websites. That is why I posted the information. Question on an Edit

Ok, so there's a page that is partly canon and partly non-canon. Jason Zimmerman The story part of this page is canon and wasn't cut, but the quest part is not canon and was cut. What should it be put under. It's under cut content, but some of it wasn't cut. So, yeah. Thanks.

CommanderNuka (talk) 04:31, November 28, 2013 (UTC)

Or does "cut" just mean not shown in the game?

CommanderNuka (talk) 04:50, November 28, 2013 (UTC)

I got rid of the cut-content banner and there was already one on the page for the quest. Thanks!

It confused me because it seemed he was a major part of that location, but it said he was cut on the other page. So I just had to clear things up. CommanderNuka (talk) 05:30, November 28, 2013 (UTC)

Posting an image like the one you just posted on Dead Gunner's image is not what I would expect from an admin. I tried to make some sense of it by thinking it's probably an inside joke between the two of you. Still, it's inappropriate. What would you do if you saw a user posting it on another user's page? I could easily be seen as harrassment not knowing the background. Something to think about. It can easily be seen as a bad example for other users. If an admin is allowed to do it, so am I. I'd rather see it deleted. Jspoel Speech Jspoel 16:33, December 2, 2013 (UTC)
