At current we have a page for the Fallout 3 10mm pistol (10mm pistol (Fallout 3)) and one for the NV variant (10mm pistol (Fallout: New Vegas)) as these are both N99 variants should these two pages should be merged. - RASICTalk 17:00, November 15, 2010 (UTC)

I agree, both specifically regarding this weapon, and in general regarding Fallout 3 and New Vegas weapons and ammo; in fact it's my opinion that ammo pages should cover all games rather than being split among pages for each game. Variations in ammo stats between games can be covered in that game's section on the page rather than make a page specifically for that ammo as it appears in a specific game. --Kris User Hola.jpg 17:19, November 15, 2010 (UTC)

No, we do not merge these pages. We have agreed on a policy regarding items quite a while ago, as the pages covering all games were too cluttered (especially for iconic items that appear in all games, like the T-51b power armor), with several infoboxes and people adding info on the wrong game to the wrong sections all the time. Regardless of whether it's the same item in-universe or not, they should have only one page only if the stats are the same (or very similar) and can easily use one infobox for both games (e.g. 10mm pistol (Fallout) covers both Fallout and Fallout 2 not because they're the same in-universe, but because it has the same stats in both games). The general in-universe info from all games should be covered on overview pages like 10mm pistol, which already includes all non-gameplay info about this weapon. If anything, more pages that currently aren't split yet should be. Ausir(talk) 17:46, November 15, 2010 (UTC)

I agree with Ausir. I was there when this policy was in place and I find it very effective. Before I was against but over time I realized that this is the best way to differentiate " Game " and " Universe ". The overall page on a specific model of item (10mm pistol for this case) are here together for all the background info on all weapons available for these models there. For specific page game, It allow cast a fast look at what we really seek. Itachou [~talk~] 18:40, November 15, 2010 (UTC)

Good points. I've changed my vote. --Kris User Hola.jpg 19:44, November 15, 2010 (UTC)

Sounds reasonable to me. veryblackravenTalk 20:30, November 15, 2010 (UTC)

I would like to point out that the Laser pistol (Fallout) applies to both the FO1 and FO2 Laser pistol so will this page be in any way affected? - RASICTalk 21:51, November 15, 2010 (UTC)

The laser pistol has the same stats and info in both FO and FO2, thus one page. If you'll notice, there's direction to a separate page for the laser pistol in Tactics.--Gothemasticator 22:15, November 15, 2010 (UTC)

Defiantly keep separate, if you want a example of how bad a multi game page can get, even for something as simple and basic as ammo, just look at this example 5.56mm round. Besides the average reader it most likely only looking for information pertaining to one game, why confuse or waste the time filling out a page with that doesn't pertain to what the reader wishes to read. I agree with Avatar. After looking at the 5.56 page, maybe we should split that one up? --Alexandersig 03:40, November 16, 2010 (UTC)
Yes, ammo pages should be split up too. Ausir(talk) 09:56, November 17, 2010 (UTC)
To go into more detail, the ammo pages should be arranged like the examples found at .44 Magnum, 10mm, 2mm EC or Rocket based on past discussion. -- Porter21 (talk) 10:08, November 17, 2010 (UTC)
Just so happens that is what I have been doing, hence how I came across the bad example of the 5.56mm page in the first place among others. I have left it as it is while this vote goes on as a example, once that is done it will be wikified to those examples. Avatar 20:20, November 17, 2010 (UTC)
EDIT: Now updated the 5.56mm page, so no longer use as a poor example Avatar 22:27, November 21, 2010 (UTC)

I am in agreement with keeping these separate. For simplicity and general tidyness. --Kingclyde 07:53, November 16, 2010 (UTC)
