While looking at some page histories, I saw an option to block people whose edits have been undone. I've never noticed this before. Can any user block people? I typed in Special:Block in the search box and it said it was restricted to administrators (which I am not), but for me the option is there under the revision history. I haven't clicked on it, though, so I don't know if it would actually let me block anyone. But it's kind of weird that the option is there. Metalspork talk  contribs 01:06, May 24, 2010 (UTC)

Any result? Nitty Tok. 01:08, May 24, 2010 (UTC)

I was afraid to click on it and randomly block someone haha. Should I...? Metalspork talk  contribs 01:15, May 24, 2010 (UTC)

I take that as a 'Nitty, I didn't try it on you yet. Maybe I should check the history of the forum.' Nitty Tok. 01:17, May 24, 2010 (UTC)

Lol I was just typing that. I responded too soon :P The option doesn't come up to block you, but it comes up on pages like Easy Pete, which was a registered user whose edits were undone. Metalspork talk  contribs 01:20, May 24, 2010 (UTC)

The edit to the Those! page was a bad edit, try that. Nitty Tok. 01:26, May 24, 2010 (UTC)
In addition, Coyote was just vandalised and the user was blocked. Try that? Nitty Tok. 01:29, May 24, 2010 (UTC)

I got "The action you have requested is limited to users in one of the groups: Administrators, Wikia Staff, Helpers, VSTF." No worries then, I don't randomly have superpowers, lol. It's kind of weird that the option would be there at all, innit? Metalspork talk  contribs 01:33, May 24, 2010 (UTC)

Which did it pop up for? Coyote or Those? Nitty Tok. 01:35, May 24, 2010 (UTC)
The block option appears for me too, but only in the revert message (Reverted edits by Fallout NV (talk | block) to last version by Metalspork). Clicking on the link results in "Permission error". Also on my Contributions page all the reverts I preformed have that option, without the user being blocked. --Anon (Talk) 01:36, May 24, 2010 (UTC)

Nitty, it came up for both pages. And I'm glad to see I'm not the only one/crazy :P Metalspork talk  contribs 01:38, May 24, 2010 (UTC)

Can you make a screenshot? Ausir(talk) 01:39, May 24, 2010 (UTC)
The same option also appears on other wikis like Mass Effect wiki but not on Community wiki. --Anon (Talk) 01:40, May 24, 2010 (UTC)
Here's what it looks like in my contributions --Anon (Talk) 01:50, May 24, 2010 (UTC)

Thought I'd add in my 2 cents and say I also have this "false blocking" ability with the same results as Metalspork and Anon. ~ Sheriff of the Wasteland 10:14, May 28, 2010 (UTC)
I was going through the user page images category when I ran across one of the screenshots in this thread. I too saw the ability to "block" people whose edits were undone or reverted even before I was made an admin, but was unable to actually block anyone (I tried, assuming I would get a confirmation if I was allowed to do so, but I wasn't allowed to do so). I think it's just part of the automatic edit summary that's inserted when you use the Undo and Revert functions. Also, I never saw the revert (rollback?) function before becoming an admin, but I've seen non-admins apparently use this function. Did I just miss it before I was an admin or is there something else going on? --Kris User Hola.jpg 18:50, September 6, 2010 (UTC)
There's a seperate caste of editors called Rollbacks, who just get to rollback edits. Ausir and Porter tend to just hand out rollbacks to users like User:Annonnimus and people like 'im, who're around and reverting. Nitty Tok. 18:53, September 6, 2010 (UTC)
