Well, here's the thing, this would be a huge task for a single person, but this is what I am thinking:

Create the 'world' map with all the locations, then have the 'community' develop each location. One person would be the 'integrator' who would combine each 'location' map into the 'world' map.

The next step would be cataloging and implementing the quests. This will take closer coordination because a quest could span many different team member's location maps.

After the empty world/locations are created it may make sense to reassign team member to create quests (since they may span multiple locations), again with an 'integrator' to coordinate.

The things that the NPC's say should be able to be 'greped' out of the original game files, and, if spoken dialog is recorded, we should be able to reuse it.

A prospective 'team member' would have to own FO1/2 and FO3/G.E.C.K and lean how to create the location maps.

A team member for the 'quest' phase will have to learn how to 'script' the events.

The 'integrator' will have to be a FO/programing god - the 'Linus Torvalds' of G.E.C.K

I think this would be a totally marketable product too - I would pay for it in a heart beat, I am supprised that Bethesda hasn't gone ahead and done it

So to begin (and this wiki has actually done most of this for us already):

-map the entire 'world' with locations

-map each 'location'

-Reverse engineer each quest's 'script' (not the script in the sense of computer code, but in the theatrical sense)

-hack, that is 'leverage' the existing dialog and conversation.

-make a cast of characters, and create their FO3 representation (i.e. make something that looks like Aradesh) </nowiki>

I can go on, but this is only an outline - who up for doing this?

Has any of the current game developers considered remaking the original Fallout games using the current Fallout game engine? Use the same characters and plot, etc., but with the first/third person 3D feel of Fallout 3 and New Vegas.

It would be cool, but i highly doubt they ever would. I thought the same thing, the should make the canceled Fallout Van Buren exactly how they were going to, that way they could make a fallout title that is a nod to 1 and 2. Sadly i really don't think it will ever happen...Birchman34 16:32, May 4, 2011 (UTC)

If only we had to tools to mod the Van Buren tech demo. Would like to see a Van buren reclaimation project. 5t3v0 06:48, May 5, 2011 (UTC)

What we need is someone with the PC version of fallout 3 or new vegas to build a total conversion for fallout 1 or fallout 2. Include all the original quests and characters. even if we don't get quality voice acting for it, subtitles would not be that hard to acclimate to, especially for us fallout veterans. I was thinking the same thing. I wonder if the sound files from the original sound file could be 'recycled' in a Gamebryo/G.E.C.K. redux - anyone want to start a collaboration project?

I do wonder though, would it be possible to mod the original Fallout engine/ Use another engine and re-make Van Buren in it? I think we have most of the design breifs to make a fully functional setting 5t3v0 05:27, March 15, 2012 (UTC)
