Not entirely sure if this is the place I should be going for this, but the steam forums are being wholely unhelpful. I figure it can't hurt.

Recently I've bought the fallout pack off of steam, everything was going fine except for a coloring issue, which was fixed by running the .exe as "administrater". Anyways, I decided to check out a walkthrough for character creation tips, and I notice children are SUPPOSED to be in these games, which they aren't in my steam version. Now I understand that children are not present in the UK and german versions of the game for legal reasons, but I live in the US and I ASSUME steam would have sold me the US version of these games. Now, as most of you probably know this doesn't raise much of an issue for fallout 1, as no real major quests revolve around children (though it would still be nice to have them for aesthetic reasons). But in fallout 2 this creates serious problems, one being the "invisible" child thieves, and the fact that theres quests revolving around them.

After very little searching I've found children patches, one is for fallout 1 UK version, and the other is for fallout 2 in general. Now, what I need to know is; Would it be safe to use these patches on my steam version of the games?

And if so, would it also be safe to use the patch for the UK version if my version of the game is not the UK version?

The patches are: http://www.nma-fallout.com/forum/dload.php?action=file&file_id=569 For fallout 1 UK version and

http://www.nma-fallout.com/forum/dload.php?action=file&file_id=78 for fallout 2, this one seems slightly unprofessional, and a little suspect from checking the readme file, and it also requires I patch to a version I already have by means other than steam which may very well be impossible.

I have these patches downloaded, and are ready to be extracted. I just need to know if these would fix my problem, or would even be possible to apply seeing as how I have the steam version. Doubly so for the second one.//////////////////////

I'm not 100% but i don't see why they wouldn't work on the Steam version.

I don't see why there should be any problems, either. I do know, however, that the steam-downloaded version is formatted a little differently than the disc version. I would go ahead and try it, because if worse comes to worse, you can simply redownload the game. ;-) Ghouly89 (Talk) 21:25, May 28, 2010 (UTC)
