I was browsing UESP a while ago, and I noticed that they list the percentages for an enemy to drop a specific loot item. I got a little idea from it. The inventory template we use currently lists the ammo that a character has for the first three Fallout games, but not for F3. Right when the template was introduced, it looked something like this:

Apparel Weapon Other items On death
Winterized Medic Armor R91 Assault Rifle 5.56mm Round Brotherhood Holotag

But then we later decided to remove ammo from the list.

I thought "Hmm. If Oblivion has set percentages for loots to spawn, doesn't F3 have set percentages of ammo that spawns on dudes?"

If the GECK permits, would it be possible to change the template to something like this?

Apparel Weapon Other items On death
Raider Painspike Armor Chinese Pistol 1-15 10mm Rounds Fancy Lads Snack Cakes

'Course, if the GECK doesn't do that, ya'll can ignore this. Just tell me so, 'kay? Nitty Tok. 15:17, May 17, 2010 (UTC)

Well, you can look it up in the GECK, yes - and that's also the problem, as only the GECK allows you to verify which amounts of ammo, caps and other randomized loot NPCs can have. We don't have many GECK-savvy editors. By the way, I've actually used the second method for the inventories I've filled in (see Chinese remnant soldier, for example), but that admittedly weren't a whole lot :P
Somewhat related, the shortage of GECK users is rather unfortunate. We could greatly increase the informational value in quite a few fields (merchant inventories, listing locations of semi-relevant fixed loot etc) if we had more :( -- Porter21 (talk) 16:56, May 17, 2010 (UTC)
I'm getting an Alienware computer in December for the whole purpose of F3 and Vegas, if that's any consolation. :|
And I knew I had seen it before somewhere, thanks for finding it. I'm sure you're plenty busy with the templates, but besides you, Phoenix and Kingclyde, I don't know anybody who could do it. Nitty Tok. 17:01, May 17, 2010 (UTC)
As for the template layout, I think we can keep ammo in the "Weapon" column below the weapon it is for. Ausir(talk) 19:07, May 17, 2010 (UTC)
Well, that'd make for a really long list in things like Paladin (Fallout 3) and Power armored soldier. I think ammo is fine under 'Other items', because there's already not very many items in there. :P Nitty Tok. 01:34, May 18, 2010 (UTC)
