Forum:Stupid courier: exploring the low-intelligence player character

Recently I created a new character to check out what changes for a character with low intelligence.

Meet Cassie:

Cassie's stats are Strength 7 (started as 6, +1 with Intense Training), Perception 6, Endurance 6, Charisma 6, Intelligence 1, Agility 5, and Luck 10. She's lucky to be alive after getting shot in the head, but she didn't come out of it unscathed. Benny's a very bad man for shooting a kid, but his aim was truer than average in Cassie's version of the Fallout universe.

Right off the bat, Doc Mitchell apologizes for his less-than-perfect surgery: "Sorry, little lady. I fixed up your head as best I knew how. Guess I missed a spot."

I ran across a few other instances of low-intelligence dialogue so far. I've been to Boulder City:

(I don't know how to scale this down, sorry)

recruited Veronica Santangelo:

visited REPCONN Headquarters:

and recruited Arcade Gannon

(What? 9/50?)

Feel free to add your own low-intelligence shots; if you use Photobucket you can put them inline, though I'm not sure how to scale them down to fit better - if anyone knows, please feel free to scale the Lt. Monroe pic down to 50%. Bear in mind that, as per the image policy, images for forum posts are not to be uploaded to the wiki; however, you're free to use images from elsewhere on the wiki in a forum post. --Kris User Hola.jpg 17:52, November 26, 2010 (UTC)

There's a video up on youtube of a stupid character during Lucky Old Sun. Not sure what the policy is on links, but I can post up a link Rhomb 05:37, November 27, 2010 (UTC)

You know, I tried too a low level inteligence build, focused on big guns but not in social manners, but I was BIG disappointed with him. There's so low impact in the way the game works that I abandoned the character after a while. I mean, I should think like a complete "dumb and dumber" person, but with the exception of some dialogs and the level up nothing really changes much. Even the level up is not hugely affected if you don't mind specializing in only one type of weapon. I experienced this with a low charisma character, with the nerve exception of the companions and some very few dialogs, people treat you exactly like before, always polite and forgiven. My character is focusing on Survival, Unarmed, and Speech (with a point tossed into Repair every now and then). It's interesting to say the least. Figured out a strategy to kill Caesar and rescue Benny. --Kris User Hola.jpg 13:45, November 27, 2010 (UTC)

Unarmed is dominant in new vegas, I wiped out the whole fort with a power fist.--Radiated Raider 16:03, November 27, 2010 (UTC)

Visited Nellis and spoke with Pearl:

Just came from NCRCF. On my last visit the boss-guy tried to tell me a joke about the Merchant, when I told him I didn get it he said it wasn't funny ha-ha. Please excuse me, I have to go and tell him that I've killed the Bunny-Hunter at Jean. Agent c 21:52, November 27, 2010 (UTC)

I found the motherlode of stupid reactions. But first, New Vegas Medical Clinic:

Motherlode part 1 - HELIOS One, Fantastic:

Motherlode part 2 - HELIOS One, Ignacio Rivas:

(flowers of pock-lips :D)

And then there was Raul:

(Yes, I use mods; this one shows Raul as a Ghoul Child. It doesn't break much lore IMO - so he's 215 years old instead of 233) --Kris User Hola.jpg 14:04, November 28, 2010 (UTC)

Kris, this is HILARIOUS!! How can you manage to play through the howls of hysteria?? Thecrystalcrow 14:32, November 28, 2010 (UTC)

The facial expressions on Dr. Usanagi when she realizes she's dealing with an idiot are priceless. -- 19:34, December 6, 2010 (UTC)

As a male, you can get "[Confirmed Bachelor] You too tense. It wrinkle your nice face." when talking to Rivas..Also noticed some subtle grammatical changes in talking in Goodsprings, Trudy I think. In previous Fallouts, were there ever dialogue changes for having too low of a Charisma? Like being a jackass instead of the being barely coherent thing with low Int? --Voltaic Volition 13:45, December 13, 2010 (UTC)
