Forums: Index > Fallout 3 general discussion > Where have all the tough guys/girls gone?

I've spent the last couple hours checking out the threads (i read pretty fast) and have noticed a general trend. It seems that more than not, players all tend to lean towards stealth characters. My question is have yall gone soft? Where are all the in your face shoot it if it moves (evil that is) (unless thats your thing), spend most of your funds on ammo and stimpack Players?

By about level 15 or so im usually running a set up like this.

Ranger armor (or even the armor from the chinese invasion if i went there early)

Usually the Sheriff hat just cause it looks cool.

Weapon slots are usually 10mm sub (caseys later) Combat Shotgun (terrible) Assult Rifle, Lincolns, Reservist, Missle, Gatlaser.

Yeah a couple of the weapons are bulky but by the time you have most of the uniques i mentioned, money isnt a problem so you stop picking everything random up.

This wasnt really a rant, Id really like to hear from some of the more "Stab it till it stops moving" Types.

Ha I suck at stealth so I am always what you are describing (planed sniper is all that isn't ) Main uses Tesla cannon, A3-21, Eugine, double barrel shotgun, victory rifle, CAR, Broken steel's Gatlaser...um lever action, and shiskabob! level 22 --Jbsnicket 20:49, May 7, 2010 (UTC)

I'm guilty of being one of the stealth people. Initially. But then I made another character with more unarmed and melee weapon skills, just so I wouldn't stalk people anymore and I'd have to run up to them. It's actually fun being a 'run up and stab' person, lol. I think in New Vegas I may do the same, mostly because in hardcore mode, ammo will have weight, so I'll have to use more melee and unarmed weapons. I expect that may become more of a trend when NV comes out because of this reason. PS, remember to sign your posts by typing ~~~~.

Because flashy assholes are 'please kick my ass' billboards (not you Mspork. We tight). I could talk about stealth, paitence, and hunting your bony ass, so I'll just say this: if you can't hear me, your're dead. If you can't see me, you're dead. I never seen The Master. I never talked to Horrigan. As far as Gustavo knows, Mr. Tenpenny died of a heart attack. There's a reason why nobody ever remembers my name. Because no one saw me. No one heard me. I am an enigma, surrounded by myth, wrapped in questions. Don't let the name fool ya. Big McLargeHuge 07:51, May 4, 2010 (UTC)

But once every full moon, I like to strap up a bandolier, grab a minigun and demand that all babies cry some more. In a thick CCCP-glory-days accent. Heh heh, cry some more. UUUUWAAAH! AHH HA HA HA HA HA! 07:55, May 4, 2010 (UTC)

It just depends on how you play. I used to play on Very Hard, but you need to sneak around all the time. The enemies simply do too much damage to run and gun all the time. Personally, I've been playing on normal again so gun repairs aren't a pain and you can take out a city while wearing leather armor and wielding mighty Eugene (sorry about the mighty... have to keep that parallel structure in case Nitty stops by). Since the ultimate challenge is best answered with stealth, more people live up to that challenge. And stealth is a big part of the game. I don't use Lincoln's Repeater or Chinese Stealth Armor, but I see why people do. There is as much satisfaction in wiping out a raider squad undetected as there is in knocking up some radscorpions with the MIRV. It's a personal thing. I normally never bother with sneaking, as I'm far too impatient. (Nooo.... I don't have a short attention spa- OHMYGODAPUPPY). I'll sneak only when neccasery, like when dealing with enemies that are too dangerous to fight at my level. Though normally, I have Charon and Dogmeat backing me up, so I don't need to sneak. So if you see some guy in T-51b armor running around with a Plasma Rifle, don't try sneaking around me. I hear EVERYTHING. Doctor L Weegee 18:19, May 6, 2010 (UTC)

Plasma rifles, Mini-nukes, combat armor and shit-loads of psycho jet and morphine that I acquired from the local pharmacist. The only time I'm slinking around is when I run out of drugs. BLTC mod just adds a whole new dimension of shit to take. Nuka Kulcha 16:40, May 7, 2010 (UTC)

Stealth makes it more difficult. That's why I like it. Anyone can shoot someone in the face, but it takes patience, time, and wits to be able to predict enemy movements. You must know your surroundings to be able to maneuver around enemies. So don't call me soft. Nukey - (Speak to me!!!)
