Alright everyone, I thought it was time to bring this up as we have a new influx of Chat mod request.

I (and others) believe that the policy for Chat mods should be changed for their inactivity and also their rights removal. Seeing as the only thing Chat moderators are here for is to watch chat rather than say a moderator who watches chat and edits.

As of now we have 3 Chat Moderators who have been rather inactive for a few months (maybe the occasional log in 1 day and not seen for another month). 1 of which has expressed a choice not to come back to us.

I believe that a Chat mods inactivity tag should start after a no show for 2 months. By this I mean they would need to have a set amount of times they have logged in for the last 2 months. So if "Chat mod A" doesn't log in more than 10 times in the 2 months then they would be moved to the Inactive Chat Moderator list. However, if they have logged in, they would retain their active tag. For removal a total of 4 months should be instated.

Right now the rules go something like this for everyone... (listed for Admins and Mods only, but still hold to C-mods)

  • Definition of inactive is six months of a lack of editing.
  • Definition of inactive for rights removal is nine months of a lack of editing.

After a decision they would be more like this for Chat mods only.

  • Definition of inactive is two months of a lack of logging into chat.
  • Definition of inactive for rights removal is 4 months of a lack of logging into chat.

Since chat is a bustling central community for us, we need our chat mods to be active and with 3 (as of right now) who are not here, and 1 expressing no real desire to be here anymore, rules for them should be different. The rules in place now really only hold true to Patrollers, Moderators, Admins, and Bureaucrats, not Chat mods as they are not really meant to edit. Right now, Admins and editing mods are watching chat when Chat mods could/should be. Admins have projects and edits that require time and effort they need but they can't get because they have to moderate chat.

The time limits I have specified are up to be changed those are really just examples. Gunslinger470/The-Gunslinger "Some say this user is a Moderator..." Some say this user used to be a Moderator... 03:06, March 26, 2014 (UTC)

How would you determine when a user has or hasn't logged into the chat? That isn't recorded in the chat logs. Toci US Air Force Into the wild blue yonder... 03:33, March 26, 2014 (UTC)

From what I have heard, Bcrats can monitor that. Gunslinger470/The-Gunslinger "Some say this user is a Moderator..." Some say this user used to be a Moderator... 05:47, March 26, 2014 (UTC)
