Redirection links

Redirection links are so the search function can direct users to the appropriate page in case they don't type in the right thing. Don't route things through redirects when the link on the page is already correct. Great Mara (talk) 21:58, January 29, 2014 (UTC)

Edits

Hey Breakin'Benny! Well, we really do appreciate you edits here at Nukapedia, we'd politely ask that you try to refrain from edits that solely remove/add useless things, such as spaces between asterisks on lists and blank returns in charts and the like. If you feel you're not quite sure what's a good edit then, may I suggest joining the New User Network as it aims to teach users the proper way to edit and helps you find articles to edit. Once again thanks for your time and keep up the editing! Yours Always; --The Old World Relics (talk/blog/contributions) 12:53, February 18, 2014 (UTC)

Howdy Benny. I've seen you removing the spaces after certain mediawiki markup characters and was kinda wondering why? For instance, I've seen you remove the space after a table cell pipe (|) on a table. Mediawiki strips out the space so removing it does not change the page display. Is there something you're seeing in your browser that I'm not? Almost all of out tables and list items have spaces after the markup character so it's easier to see in source, so I'm kinda wondering if there's something wrong you're seeing that's making you remove them. Get back to me, thanks.  The Gunny  UserGunny chevrons 20:44, February 27, 2014 (UTC)
Ok. Well, I'd appreciate it if you didn't remove any of those extra spaces that mediawiki ignores. We are pretty consistent in our display of the source code, and I'd rather have all pages with spaces, than a bunch with and the ones you've edited without. Thanks in advance. The Gunny  UserGunny chevrons 23:52, February 27, 2014 (UTC)
Please leave the space between the asterisk (*) and the text. It doesn't make a difference and personally I prefer the space when I edit. Jspoel Speech Jspoel 13:59, February 28, 2014 (UTC)
Benny, I understand what you're saying, but there's 15,000+ articles and only one person who doesn't like the spaces. I hope you understand. The Gunny  UserGunny chevrons 20:51, February 28, 2014 (UTC)

Test Man

His name is Test Man in the G.E.C.K. please leave it as that and do not refer to him as "the test man" as that is improper. Thanks and happy editing.--Kingclyde (talk) 19:37, March 12, 2014 (UTC)

Capitalization/Sections

Please refrain from capitalizing article names, they have all (for the most part) been extensively de-capped in accordance with proper encyclopedic conventions. Also, please make sure you have appropriate 'headings' on pages - things like 'trivia' are unacceptable; we use 'behind the scenes' and 'notes', depending. I can see there have been some issues with your past edits as well, so I'm going to suggest you take a look at our editing guidelines. By making these edits you are effectively ignoring our rules, and ignorance of the rules is not an excuse for breaking them, hence the link prior. If you have any questions or need any assistance please feel free to message me on my talk page or via e-mail should you feel more comfortable. I feel like your contributions are in good faith, but I'm afraid continued edits or poor quality/violating rules may be grounds for disciplinary actions, such as blocking. I hope you take this advice and I look forward to working with you in the future. FollowersApocalypseLogo A Follower  Talk  08:51, March 14, 2014 (UTC)

I understand that you are only trying to help, hence why I directed you to the above link. As one of the larger gaming wikis, we have different (often higher) standards for content than some of the other wikis, which can be a bit difficult to grasp for new users. We all learn from experience, but it's better to get you on the right track with the guidelines than for us to have to follow and fix preventable bad edits. I hope I didn't come off as angry with my prior message, I am anything but angry at your contributions - I'd just rather see you go down the correct path. Again, if you have any questions feel free to message me. Happy editing! FollowersApocalypseLogo A Follower  Talk  16:49, March 14, 2014 (UTC)

Fast Shot

Where exactly do you find AMDIDEX.FRM? Any chance you could take a screenshot to verify it? Paladin117>>iff bored; 00:41, April 11, 2014 (UTC)

So, just to be clear, you're adding info on the Fallout 1 demo to the Fallout: New Vegas section? Paladin117>>iff bored; 12:56, April 11, 2014 (UTC)

Thanks

Hi Benny,

Just wanted to say thanks for your contributions to date, I've noticed your regular morning/early afternoon editing, and your contributions are very welcome ones. We need more like you. Agent c (talk) 12:03, May 6, 2014 (UTC)

Weapon sounds

I got those weapon sound files from Nexus mods. There is a zip file containing all sounds which I used. First I did the same thing you did, extracting master.dat, then the weapon sounds are in the SFX map. Weapon sounds start with W.. Except I can't figure out which code stands for which weapon. Do you know then? Jspoel Speech Jspoel 23:43, May 17, 2014 (UTC)

You can not revert someone that reverted your edit, that's edit warring which is against policy. You have to come to an agreement before any edit can be made now. Paladin117>>iff bored; 02:41, May 18, 2014 (UTC)

I don't know anything about sound files, so I have no input here. You will have to talk with Jspolestra about them. Paladin117>>iff bored; 19:04, May 18, 2014 (UTC)
Looks like jokes on you, then, until you get to study a bit on game resources. --Breakin'Benny (talk) 08:47, May 19, 2014 (UTC)
I compared the 14mm pistol in-game with the sound that originially was there and they match I think. Yours isn't an improvement. Jspoel Speech Jspoel 19:50, May 20, 2014 (UTC)
Nexus tells me they're the original sounds from Fallout 2 weapons. I got them here. 14mm pistol, .223 pistol and .44 magnum revolver use the same sound.

( You can upload weapon soundfiles you think are correct to your sandbox with the weapon's name to it, and I'll have a listen to it. As far as I'm concerned the sounds from the Nexus are ok (14mm sounded good to me comparing the W-file and the in-game sound) but you can give it a try. Jspoel Speech Jspoel 22:17, May 20, 2014 (UTC)

Ok. I loaded the three files in Audacity and there you see, the original and the Nexus are the same. Yours is way off. Don't know how you created that W-file, but mine is how you see it at the top and to verify it I've overwritten SigS 223 magnum.ogg with my W-file. They're the same. I rest my case. Jspoel Speech Jspoel 16:28, May 22, 2014 (UTC)
223 soundfile stuff
I use a program called ACMConv. You shouldn't convert them to mono, that's probably why yours is off. Just convert them normally (stereo?) and use Audacity to slow down the frequence from 22050 t0 11025, if that's needed. I get the wav file in normal speed straight away when using ACMConv. Then I convert it to .ogg by using Audacity. Jspoel Speech Jspoel 16:41, May 22, 2014 (UTC)

Russian Text

The Russian text at the bottom of pages is a link to the Russian Fallout wiki's version of that article, it's an interwiki link. When looking at the page view as opposed to the editing screen it shows up as "Languages:(whatever languages have an interwiki link to the article). Richie9999 (talk) 16:10, May 19, 2014 (UTC)

Sorry about breaking the subject line there, I clicked enter in the subject line/edit summary box like I do when I leave an edit summary. Of course that splits the end of the subject line from the formatting. Richie9999 (talk) 17:26, May 19, 2014 (UTC)

Fallout Hub ending

Hey, how did you restore the quest in Fallout to report Iguana Bob to the Hub police? What did you download?

Brandon Fox (talk) 12:48, May 25, 2014 (UTC)

I've just finished my playthrough of Fallout with the FIXT mod, the added content is good! I've previously had a Team X patch which gave a couple of cut quests like the find the children spy quest but it still wasn't enough because of that global variable to train the followers.. I also used a save file editor to fix check the global variables of "be kind to Harold" and "Train Followers" so that I can get the good endings for the Hub and Followers at last.

Thanks for telling me about this. This is the first time in a Fallout playthrough that's I've managed to get all of the good endings!

Brandon Fox (talk) 21:47, May 26, 2014 (UTC)

That's weird, I only used the Fixt mod for the game and I had the quest to find Heather the Children spy. Granted, there's nobody around to give me the quest to find the spy like in the Team X patch (a guy gives you the quest in the library basement) but Heather is there in my game and I can talk to her and have my character say "I think I have already found the Spy" and then kill her afterwards and the find the spy quest is crossed out on my Pip-boy tab. When I then talk the basement ghoul afterwards he will say "Thanks for removing from our midst that traitor Heather".

The only other thing I had to get the good ending for them was change the global variable to train them, the same as the Hub.

Ending images

How did you create Mutant? I can't find it in the extracted master.dat files (\Art map). And do you know where to get the high res talking head images? There are images in the Arts\Heads map but they are very low res and fuzzy. Same thing with the backgrounds for the talking heads. The heads on the wiki are much sharper and not taken in-game I think. Jspoel Speech Jspoel 21:02, June 1, 2014 (UTC)

I see you used the Fixt version of Fallout for that. That's about the only good one there. But low and below, today I found an frm viewer that can view the images properly. All endings images are in original Intrface map and the talking heads I have to combine with layers, background and heads. Then I get very close to what you see on the pages. Still not exactly the same though, mine end up a bit bright. Jspoel Speech Jspoel 15:46, June 2, 2014 (UTC)

Edits

Glad to see an editor becoming so active! Just as a tip, may I suggest using the preview button before publishing your edits? I have looked at your edits before, and it appears to be a bit common from your end to see a few grammar mistakes which are easily fixable by proofreading your edits. Not trying to bust your chops or anything - it just helps out a lot when edits are done properly the first time around, or else other editors will begin following you more frequently to make sure you are not making further mistakes.

Happy editing! ForGaroux Some Assembly Required! 09:03, June 2, 2014 (UTC)

Edit Warring

Warning red Hello Breakin'Benny, please refrain from edit warring. If you feel your edits have been reverted without cause, leave a message on the article talk page, with the reverting editor, or one of Nukapedia's active administrators. Do not continue to edit war, as this will result in administrative action. You should take this opportunity to completely familiarize yourself with Nukapedia's user policies and content guidelines, if you have not yet done so.
