John "jD" Dickenson is a developer who worked at Black Isle Studios on Van Buren as an artist.

Biography[]

Dickenson's diverse career as an artist has spanned over two decades. He has worked as a freelance illustrator, graphic designer, comic book inker, and for the past 10 years as a digital artist in both the film and video game industries. His work has appeared in a number of Spectrum Annuals over the last 10 years as well as other publications in both print and on the web.

His versatile style and ability to adapt has enabled him to partner on many high profile projects with companies such as Walt Disney Imagineering, Walden Media, Twentieth Century Fox, DC and Marvel comics. His art has been featured in the Narnia Films Prince Caspian and Voyage of the Dawn Treader, as well as the last Fantastic Four film, Rise of the Silver Surfer. He has inked on many popular comic titles such as Iron Man, Fantastic Four, and X Men. Mazda, GE, and VH1 have also used Dickenson's concepts for helping create some of their television commercials.

Over the last 10 years his artwork has been an important part of many video game studios throughout the US. He and his other studio mates, Justin Sweet and Vance Kovacs at Carbon Canyon Studios, are currently finishing up more than a year long project with Trion Games where Dickenson was the main environment concept artist for all their level designs.
