Josh is a deceased member of the Minutemen in 2287.
Background[]
Josh was among the Minutemen squad under Colonel Hollis during the Quincy Massacre. When Clint, a 10-year veteran of the Minutemen, betrayed them, Josh was one of the few Minutemen that escaped with Preston Garvey's group, with others including Emma and Anthony. They survived all the way until Lexington, where the group briefly stayed. Emma and Josh left ahead of the group for an unspecified task, with the others assuming they would be in Concord after finishing their task.[1] However, they chose to go back to Lexington, finding the Super Duper Mart empty and the group missing (chased away by feral ghouls, unbeknownst to them).[2]
After investigating what had happened, they discovered Anthony's remains and feral ghoul corpses and deduced what had happened. Before leaving, Josh opted to reenter the building to take care of some final affairs, including handling Anthony's remains, while sending Emma to the loading docks to wait for him. However, he was soon attacked by the ferals.[1][3] Neither Josh nor Emma made it out alive, with Josh dying in the back of the building and Emma killed in the loading docks.

Emma and Josh are among several NPCs who has a unique speaker NPC model for their holotape voice. These speaker NPCs are distinct from the in-game corpses and also have completely different appearances.
