Lucy MacCready was the wife of Robert MacCready and mother of Duncan.
Background[]
Lucy met MacCready in the Capital Wasteland sometime after he left Little Lamplight, his childhood home. Although he was a gun for hire at the time, he did not want her to know he was a mercenary in fear she may have thought poorly of him, so he lied to her that he was a soldier passing through. She carved a wooden toy soldier for him as a gift soon after they met.[1] The two ended up having a son, Duncan. MacCready describes Lucy as beautiful and a constant shoulder to lean on who gave him the courage to continue.[2][3]
She died a few years before MacCready travelled to the Commonwealth. The three had camped in a metro station for the night, but hadn't realized it was filled with feral ghouls. She was killed in front of MacCready before he had a chance to defend her; her final words were to escape with Duncan, and she also called MacCready brave and said she would always love him. He barely managed to escape with Duncan.[4]
Notes[]
Fallout Shelter Online gives Lucy a backstory for how she and MacCready met: MacCready was on a mission to hunt down a deathclaw; in its lair, he met Lucy, who was also hunting it in order to save caps for her townsfolk (so as to prevent them from needing to pay a mercenary for the job). The two successfully killed the deathclaw and Lucy was impressed by his skill.[5]
Appearances[]
Lucy MacCready appears in Fallout Shelter Online and is mentioned only in Fallout 4. In Shelter Online, she only appears in MacCready's Hero Biography.

I know a carved toy soldier is a strange reward for risking your life, but this one's special... it means a lot to me.[...]My wife Lucy gave this to me right after we met. I... I uh, told her I was a soldier and she made it for me. Never could bring myself to tell her the truth... that I was just a hired killer. The soldier story was the best thing I could come up with. I didn't want to lose her because of what I was."

(Robert MacCready's dialogue) - ↑ Robert MacCready: "It doesn't really matter anymore... she died a few years back. We made the mistake of holing up in a metro station one night. We didn't know that the place was infested with ferals. They were on her before I could even fire a shot. Ripped her apart right in front of me. There was nothing I could do. Took everything I had to escape with Duncan in my arms."
