Merry Christmas

Hey Ghost, Merry Christmas. Don't edit too long anymore today (can also say it to myself). Quite a productive year we had, wouldn't you say? Too bad we're not working together anymore. See you're updating icon images on The Vault, I can't seem to get the real hang of it. Can you explain one more time how you get them so good quality? Exchanging content

Our poll about exchanging content has finished and Kingclyde can give his final verdict now. It looks like it will pass on this wiki. Probably you want to wait till Porter returns and I see Ausir's objecting to some things. Best to reach a general agreement I think. Jspoel Speech Jspoel 17:16, December 27, 2011 (UTC)

Patrol rights

Ghost, do you know how these patrol rights work? Seems like moderators don't have them. user:SigmaDelta54 and user:TwoBearsHigh-Fiving just got promoted with the patrol checkmark (along with rollback and chatmod) and they don't have that red exclamation mark to the left of the screen in recent changes. It should be there, shouldn't it? Jspoel Speech Jspoel 02:10, January 3, 2012 (UTC)

The ban

  • i'm saying power abuse simply because nobody can explain me exactly why i was banned. i don't even know what i said that made me banned in the first place! if there's no explanation as to why i was banned, it means that the ban was unfair. it's the admin's responsibility to inform what people were banned for in the first place, and i'd like to know, not to do the same in the future. --SaadSwati 21:05, January 3, 2012 (UTC)

I am interested in sound files, character (model) images, proto id's an so on. Itachou knows but he's no longer here. Did find access to the Fallout 1/2 proto id's and some Van Buren item/weapon images. Things

have definitely changed since the bulk of the administrative team and bc's left this wiki. It's not that the new leaders aren't doing a good job, but it feels like the traditional practices and elements that built this wiki are disappearing. I feel it surprising that a few admins wanted to delete all evidence of the recent EB/Billy incident. Isn't this pure censure by the trusted leaders of the wiki? A lot more page locked that I would deem extraneous at points has been happening too. I just feel like the "old" wiki managed certain things in a more... standardized fashion. -ΣΔLet's talk! 18:38, February 18, 2012 (UTC)

Couldn't help but notice this during a bored moment of lurking about. I can honestly say nothing has really changed here except a change of leadership and a lack of anything going on while we're waiting for the next Fallout to come out. Not sure what traditional practices are disappearing either. I think the only thing that's been asked to change at all is when you (Sigma) and Jspoel decided to send a message to Clyde about changing our speculation policy. (Which I absolutely disagree on. There's a reason why it's called "speculation".) As for deleting the evidence about EB, no such thing was ever done, even when me and Yessie deleted the forums involved. I merely removed the forum since protecting it wouldn't do any good seeing all of the Admins that were involved, and I copied the comments over to a personal sandbox that could be more easily controlled and out of sight. So no. The evidence was not just destroyed with us acting like nothing ever happened. Also, while we should have thrown up a deletion tag first, as standard procedure states, it is also in the rules here that forums/blogs/sandboxes that are are available to the public eye may be deleted if the content within involves trolling/nude or overly controversial pictures/spam, etc. Dragon Skål! 12:18, February 19, 2012 (UTC)
To me, that smacks of sweeping it under the rug. User:AvatarUser talk:Avatar 18:27, February 19, 2012 (UTC)
I'm sorry you see it that way, I really am. I wasn't trying to censure anything at all, and that's never been my way. (And neither was Yessie.) The way I see it, removing that forum was the same as if an Anon got onto the forums and started telling everyone that Ethan was dead. If that way the case? This wouldn't even be being disputed right now, seeing as those comments would have been deleted in a heartbeat, and not just by me. It's obvious that he's not dead and I had all of the information stored so everyone would be able to take what they said into account. I guess I just don't see how that could be considered sweeping it under the rug. Nothing was hidden and me and Ci were actively considering throwing up a forum to express our concerns on proper Admin etiquette when handling these situations. Dragon Skål! 19:32, February 19, 2012 (UTC)
It's good that you've taken the time to explain this, Leon. I think I understand things a little better now. People won't always get along, but we all do what we think is best for the wiki. -ΣΔLet's talk! 18:17, February 20, 2012 (UTC)

Comments

I have always respected your opinion and you have helped me greatly when everyone was still active. I closed hi bc poll early because it was set to run for longer than the standard 2 week time frame. The mistrust that has been occurring is indeed due to the split. There really is no way to fix that. If I see people starting problems and I ban them I'm a dictator, if I ignore them I'm not doing my job or playing favoritism. I have as well as the remaining admins have carried on as we had before the split. The only real person I've seen have issues was BillyOcean when he banned the whole chatroom. That was my first real action was stripping him of his chat mod rights. There is a line here that I have to walk. I do not like upsetting things and as far as community stuff is concerned, I feel everything is still done by community consensus. In fact it has been my observation that there has been more community involvement now then before. When I see issues such as the deletion of the forum, I went in chat and talked to the person(s) responsible and discussed the finer points of policy. At this point this wikia is going to tread water until a new Fallout game is released. We have people finalizing projects and a few new ones have popped up, but other than that this wikia article wise will become stagnant. The only reason I requested the bc position is that we needed some form of leadership at the time and J was not interested in becoming one at the time. Him becoming a bc is great as I am not always available as much as I would like and will become a little more scarce once ME3 comes out. I shifted my focus from the Wolfenstein Wikia to this one once I became bc and now may be able to divide my time between the two. I am more than willing to reinstate your bc status as well if you wish. You have already earned it months ago. I've tried my best to be a decent bc and I may have failed in that respect. I'm not sure. Anyways that's my explanation and/or reasoning for what I have done here. Thanks for reading.--Kingclyde 21:47, February 19, 2012 (UTC)

Yes, I do have a problem. I'd appreciate it if you voiced your concern for the wiki in a less abrasive manner. We don't need your constant criticism about how you feel the Wiki has gone downhill since the split, and your constant criticism of the administrative team when we're only trying to help. You're entitled to your opinion, as anyone else here is, but I'd appreciate it if you did it in a less disrespectful manner. My tolerance is running thin old friend

A copy from the discussion page.

Here is the deal. This page is closed as the discussion is moved so placing derogatory comments where most users cannot respond is disappointing. Second, all rules and regulations are brought up by one or two people and then put to the community so "calls for just implementing rules as certain people see fit" rings hollow."Certain people are just trying to subvert the whole process to get things the way they want it, pushing throw change at any cost, it is like a load of mini dictators running the insane asylum" is a blatant lie as this is being decided by the community and is a direct insult to myself and other users. I understand that everyone has the right to an opinion but to come on here and blatantly insult me and/or other users is a violation of standard wikia protocol. In other words, the general don't be a dick guide applies here. I've been here a long time and you of all people know how I operate and how things have operated in the past. I nor other admins randomly add rules and regulations as we see fit, which is what you are accusing us of doing. This policy change is up for community consideration which is right here! "Those who do not have the best interest tend to shy away from the light and use the shadows, this is how it is feeling to me at present and I am sadly disappoint in a lot of people at the moment." - what the hell does this mean? I am sadly disappointed with your conduct in coming here and stirring up the community with these empty accusations and blatant insults. I have it bouncing around in my head to ban you with good reason but I respect you too much to just "drop the ban hammer." I want an honest and concise reason as to why you have decided to come here and make accusations and hurl insults around like its nobody's business.--Kingclyde 06:21, March 6, 2012 (UTC)
For what its worth Ghost, I'm beginning to agree with you. What are you talking about? Except for Scar's changes to the Administration requirements, this is the first thing we've even considered changing since the split. And I really don't want to hear anything when the old Administration here did plenty of things without community consensus (Such as when Porter disabled the template for a YT extension variant or when the pure human category was taken out without a proper vote even when there was a basic debate forum about it. Or my favorite, when Tag brought up a debate over Totalitarian symbols and it was shot down by one Admin and it was never brought in for a vote even though it was a legitimate and serious concern that involved the community, not the Administration team.) While this policy change did go by a tad fast, we are not doing anything loose and we've even reset the vote when it was found out that a couple policies weren't taken into account. Just because we're Admins doesn't mean we're infallible and we have memorized the policies 100%. We make mistakes, that doesn't mean we're abusing our posts just to push something out. Dragon Skål! 15:46, March 6, 2012 (UTC)
  • And before anybody says anything, I'm not taking the logo and name change into account since that was a forced change upon us. Dragon Skål! 15:53, March 6, 2012 (UTC)

For the record, I'm not opposing anyone - I am opposing wilful ignorance of procedures an policies, key word there is wilful. Leon, The facts are for this change there was an attempt to place different vote values, and a shorter voting process than policies require, and as soon as the vote is closed for these breaches in policies, talk happens straight away on creating a new vote with one of these problems re-included, or by simply changing the rules by fiat. Maybe Ghost did go a little too far in the wording he's used, but I think the concerns here are valid ones, and have been expressed by other users. I want peace too, lets achieve it by following the procedures and policies that we've agreed on. Agent c 16:03, March 6, 2012 (UTC)

I don't see that as a legitimate concern anymore now that we've taken those policies into consideration and we have a now correct voting process in place. As for J's comment, saying half-tempted is in no way saying that he was actually going to change the rules. He was just expressing his frustration over the ridiculous nature of the debates that have taken place, and he even mentioned that he would never change the rules by himself until at least consulting our other 'crat, KingClyde. I think you're looking a little too far into that comment. ;) Especially with Jspoel's history of doing just about everything by the book. Dragon Skål! 16:10, March 6, 2012 (UTC)

You have a good cause to keep stability and professionalism in place, C. Don't mean to shoot down your ideas, I'm just a tad weary now that the entirety of the Administration team has been brought into question along with the integrity of this wiki as a whole. I think this whole prospect has just been taken too seriously and now it's having adverse negative effects. Dragon Skål! 16:15, March 6, 2012 (UTC)
You know C, I think you're about the only one with any clarity of mind to actually understand the real issue raised.
