One of your hands is very dominant. You excel with single-handed weapons, but two-handed weapons cause a problem.Fallout 2 in-game description

One Hander is a trait in Fallout, Fallout 2 and Fallout Tactics.

Effects[]

Fallout, Fallout 2[]

This trait gives a -40% chance to hit with two-handed weapons, but +20% to hit with weapons that only require one hand. Affected weapons are Unarmed, Melee, Small Guns and Energy Weapons pistols, and Throwing weapons. Completely unarmed attacks, such as Hammer Punch, are unaffected by this trait giving them neither a bonus nor penalty.

Fallout Tactics[]

This trait increases your Small Guns, Unarmed and Throwing skill by 10% while lowering your Big Guns by 30%. There is no penalty for using two-handed weapons and no bonus for using one-handed weapons.

Notes[]

  • Any melee weapon that does not require two hands (such as sledgehammers) are useful with this trait, this also counts for any Unarmed weaponry.
  • From a skill point perspective, this trait can be very strong, and the 20% bonus is a modifier rather than adding to the base chance. What this means is that higher skill levels (above 100%) the base level will remain below the 100% threshold, therefore making increases still cost 1 instead of 2 skill points, 2 instead of 3, etc. This allows for more efficient skill increases.
