Receiving mask

I reverted the change indicating that, if you convince the tower residents to allow the move in, you will receive the mask without the residents of Tenpenny Tower dying. This is incorrect, the residents all die even if you do this. The only ways to prevent the death of either all the ghouls or all the Tenpenny residents is to simply walk away from the quest and never complete it. --AnaxagorasZ

Feral ghouls may attack your followers? Never seen this happen in my game, anyone had seen it? If no then I'm removing the note. --SkyHi 21:52, 15 November 2008 (UTC)

I didn't notice it happening either. Friendly NPC's seem to ignore followers, including Fawkes, who I thought might be in trouble if I went near BOS/Outcast members. Revelation-23 21:58, 15 November 2008 (UTC)
Ok, I'm removing the note until anyone verifies the claim. --SkyHi 23:02, 15 November 2008 (UTC)

When wearing it (mask), ferals AND Glowing will not attack you even if you stay very long near them and even if you activate them several times (Use key). I even tried to block their way and no attack on me.

Indeed, they will never attack you if you wear the mask and dont attack em, doesnt matter if youre close or clicking on them. --SkyHi 00:17, 28 November 2008 (UTC)

The mask works by setting player faction to ally with ghoul faction. Since followers are part of player faction, they get the same benefit. Also, if you do attack and nullify the protection, you can just take off the mask and put it back on to reset it. --97.81.77.13 17:09, 28 November 2008 (UTC)

Ive been attacked while wearing this mask before but only when I activate my pip-boy light.

Well, I was running around with my light on all the time yet the ghouls never attacked me. --SkyHi 23:42, 30 November 2008 (UTC)

The only ghoul i was attacked by while wearing this mask was Jaime in the dunwich building and even after i killed him the other ghouls around him did not attack

So though it fools the Feral Ghouls. It should be noted that all NPC Ghouls who are hostile towards the player wont be affected. So if you come across one of the few hostile Ghouls(those that wear clothes and use weapons) they will always attack you.

Bug

It seems that you can continue to wear this mask after its condition reaches zero. Once you remove it, feral ghouls still will not attack you. This happened to me on the 360 version. --HarrisonH 01:52, 14 January 2009 (UTC)

does the glitch only work sometimes or without fail?

It seems to be without fail, and on the PS3 version as well.--newuser 05:58, October 18, 2009 (UTC)

Same with my game never wore the mask but they never attacked me (green markers not red) followed on into point lookout too. Melvin x 12:50, November 9, 2009 (UTC) ps. 360

ive got a similiar bug. im never attacked by ghouls but my mask is still in my big locker of crap.

Glowing One

So do Glowing ones attack you while wearing the Ghoul Mask? HuangLee 16:44, 29 January 2009 (UTC)

No. I've been around many, and have never been attacked once. The light in darkness 07:26, 1 February 2009 (UTC)
No. you can't trigger a glowing one hostile. I have exhausted every means possible while visiting the Museum of American History. I have stood by one for around 10 minutes, searched a dead glowing one, even attempt to engage in dialogue (which cannot be initiated with Ghouls). I suggest the glowing one bit be removed. Ahmoudy 23:57, 14 March 2009 (UTC)
Have you tried shooting the glowing one? That always works for me 98.249.220.131 18:41, November 7, 2009 (UTC)
I have got rid of that bit, though whoever wrote it must have not played the game. Any way, no need to worry any more people XD. From MissFeralSmasher13

Trivia

Why is there info about making your character look like Freddy Kruger? Not sure if I'm missing something, but this seems really out of place since you can create hundreds and hundreds of famous characters from in-game clothing combinations. 68.49.187.181 01:10, 2 February 2009 (UTC

I also think we don't need the Freddy K. thing. If we do think it's relevant,we should atleast move information to the Deathclaw Gauntlet page. But What other notable celebrities can you make in FO3?I have found no other infamous character clothing. HuangLee 19:34, 7 February 2009 (UTC)

I don't think it's intentional, but it does add some irrelevant but fun information to this article. Ahmoudy 04:56, 15 March 2009 (UTC)

Obtaining it

is it possible to get the ghoul mask without all the residents at tenpenny tower dieing?

Nope. Outside of the console on the PC, of course. Otherwise you'll have to let them all die.

man, i really wish i had the pc version, the console always makes games super fun.

u can but u have to convince the residents at tenpenny tower to let them in.173.17.186.101 03:09, 15 March 2009 (UTC)

yeah but 48 hours later there all dead...check the storage closet or ask michael masters about why there arent any human residents anymore and he'll say "roy took out there trash" catch my meaning?LuciusZelgius 02:03, 28 March 2009 (UTC)

Just thought I'd ask. Where is this storage closet? I've never actually seen their bodies except when I let the ghouls in and looted the place. Ganon12788 02:08, September 4, 2009 (UTC)

well i had a bug it was strange though but i killed the ghouls and was some how able to get the ghoul mask on my 360 it was strange but when i tried to put it on my screen went all light blue and im wondering last time i got the game cleaned i accidently dropped it and it got cut or something on the outer clear rim of the disk and it might be touching the rim of the game part would that screw my game up like really bad because my game is all fucked up and i really would hate to have to go buy a whole new disk67.158.15.172 01:31, September 10, 2009 (UTC)

Hmm you have to convince everyone to let the ghouls move in and roy will give you the mask though 48 hours later everyones dead :(, But if your on the pc vertion there is a mod avadible that lets the residents ghoul and human live together peacefull as if the 48 hours of peace never ended, This is also a good method as you can really squeeze every penny you can out of tenpenny by convincing him to let the ghouls come in and then getting payed to do so, so its a win win, You get the caps and the mask.

Radroaches

While wearing the Ghoul Mask, I have noticed that radroaches do not attack you. If discovered, they appear as hostiles, but when approached they turn friendly and run away. Can this be double checked by another user; this could be added on to the article. Ahmoudy 00:01, 15 March 2009 (UTC)

This sometimes happening even without you wearing the ghoul mask. Did it happen to you in a metro station, near one of the exits? That's what happened for me, I turned a corner and the ran past me and even though they showed up as red dots on my radar, my follower (charon) didn't attack them, nor did Dogmeat. I also found the body of a dead ghoul near there as well, so I don't think that looking like a ghoul would save you from the radroaches.Crimmastermind 07:43, 20 March 2009 (UTC)
Yes thank you, I was going to repost, that it does not. This only occurs in the Metro Tunnels. Ahmoudy 08:00, 20 March 2009 (UTC)

yeah that happened to me on the way to gnr they ran past me to attack a super mutant who got owned by feral ghouls67.158.15.172 01:44, September 10, 2009 (UTC)

Moved from article

Cannot be worn with Ledoux's Hockey Mask

Just tried it on the 360, fully patched, and without Broken Steel, Operation Anchorage and The Pitt. It switches the Ghoul Mask to Ledoux's Hockey Mask. Can't wear both at once, unless there's some secret method I don't know about.

T 01:36, 10 May 2009 (UTC)

Confirmed for PS3. Zuriga 00:04, 14 May 2009 (UTC)

Just tried this on my 360 as well, very disappointed that I cannot wear both at the same time.97.114.241.229 19:11, 6 June 2009 (UTC)OrangeRichard

Actually, scratch that. It's possible with the Chinese stealth armor. The CSA also allows for multiple headgears to be equipped all at once, which is a nice touch.

Armour bonus

Equip the ghoul mask with the antagonisers helmet or mechanists rather than the combat helmet and you get a +6 DR (compared to +5 of a combat helmet) as well as what the ghoul mask gives you.

Moyra sells Ghoul Mask?

Ok, when I started the game and I meet Moyra she hot in her stuff the Ghoul Mask, but after a while she sell it. Is this a bug? and I know that my grammar sucks. ~Flanker84

--Really? This would certainly be a bug, and a very odd one at that. Are you sure it wasn't a Hockey Mask? -Cholera

Followers?

Does the effect work if followers equip the mask? That would be nice... 68.192.9.90 00:48, September 23, 2009 (UTC)

No, followers do not eqip it. But if you are wearing it, ghouls will not attack your followers.--Kingclyde 01:13, September 23, 2009 (UTC)
The article said Charon equips it... 68.192.9.90 21:04, September 23, 2009 (UTC)
"If given to Charon, despite him already being a ghoul, he will wear it."
Just tested, Charon does wear the mask, but ghouls still try to kill me. 68.192.9.90 20:02, November 1, 2009 (UTC)
Jericho wears the mask, infact, he prefers it over both power helmet and combat helmet.Kampvarg 12:43, August 18, 2010 (UTC)

Super Mutants are friendly to ghouls?

In this article, it mentions Super Mutants being friendly towards Ghouls. However, I've seen them fight on many occasions and found in a Metro (I believe the Farragut tunnel, or whatever tunnel you need to go through to get to Galaxy News Radio) tunnel three decapitated Ghouls, four dead Radroaches, a dead Super Mutant, and a Ghoul that had very low (1-2 bars) health, indicating that either 1. Two radroaches killed a mutant and somehow decapitated three Ghouls or 2. The nail-board wielding Super Mutant attacked them and killed them before being finally killed by a fourth Ghoul. Can someone confirm or disprove this? -Shockwolf10 22:44, June 14, 2010 (UTC)

Wearing this also...

makes the ghouls friendly to your followers? Nukey (talk) (blog) 00:02, July 28, 2010 (UTC)

Nevermind. Kingclyde said that it does. Nukey (talk) (blog) 00:04, July 28, 2010 (UTC)

No way to save them

I'd like to note that the consequences of killing Roy and the others after acquiring the mask by the peaceful way have already been reported. I've tried this path twice again, so I guess it could be considered kind of confirmed. I think it can be useful to make clear for people (like me) who wondered if the quest could be conducted that way. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Niflheimr (talkcontribs). What's unclear about it? It seems pretty clear to me in the notes section that there's no way to obtain the ghoul mask and still keep the human residents alive (in normal gameplay, PC console commands or mods don't count).--Kris User Hola 12:34, September 9, 2010 (UTC)
This is after your addition, that is. I don't see the need to try to justify an edit that hasn't been challenged :) --Kris User Hola 12:36, September 9, 2010 (UTC)
I just saw it had already been corrected once, but still didn't find that "There is no method" very explicit about this path. I just think this way that statement is more convincing :) Niflheimr 13:17, September 9, 2010 (UTC)

Effect on radroaches

Has anyone else noticed that the mask makes radroaches ignore you if ghouls are nearby but they still attack if there aren't any ghouls around? Bwilderbeast 09:57, March 9, 2011 (UTC)

i see that too but i dont realy tink it was about the mask --Atila12346 01:19, May 5, 2011 (UTC)

Chinese Stealth Suit

so if you wear the Chinese stealth suit with the mask, does it still work, even if your wearing an extra hat? Gschmechel25 15:12, May 30, 2011 (UTC)

How about the supermutants' attitude?

no one mention that how about the supermutants' attitude?will they leave u alone? like they do to the history museum settlers?

Unfortunately, Super Mutants will still attack you (as stated in the notes section). Elloabbey (talk) 01:20, July 21, 2012 (UTC)

nv

can it be console commanded into nv?

As I recall, the scripting that the ghoul mask has, isn't included in the game files (via the GECK). Much like the Chinese Stealth Armor's script isn't included into the games files either for NV. Deadling (talk) 21:50, January 29, 2014 (UTC)
