I know this may seem to be a minor issue to some but I do come in here often and check to see if the forums are new or not. When I see someone added something, I'm like "sweet" and I click on it just to find out it was just a link fix that J did to a forum from 2009. Is there a way to move these to an archive. If anything we can create a new forum headed at the very bottom named "Forum Archives" and move anything over 6 months or more there. Maybe a year depending on the topic who knows. But to keep bringing the old 2009 forum posts to the top of the line seems silly and it does tend to bury new posts if we are not attentive. Let's hope this doesn't get buried...--Kingclyde (talk) 03:06, September 6, 2013 (UTC)

  • Quick, everybody look for an old forum to "fix". ;-D DarthOrc (talk) 07:22, September 6, 2013 (UTC)

I see no problem with this. A bot could probably run through the dates and move everything from 2009 over with ease. ForGaroux Some Assembly Required! 00:29, September 7, 2013 (UTC)

That makes sense. I wanted to let this sit before a responded to see what happened. It got dropped 11 places by forums that are from 2010 and older with the exception of two that are newer. I think if we move anything older than a year to an archive we should be safe. Thoughts?--Kingclyde (talk) 20:02, September 10, 2013 (UTC)
It's hard to really tell, without anybody giving feedback. (Would be especially helpful from the regular/new editors around here.) Quite a few old forums are suddenly revived. Personally, I'd say move everything from 2011 and before to an archive, while leaving the Fallout 4 forums alone for now. ForGaroux Some Assembly Required! 20:07, September 10, 2013 (UTC)

I concur. I think there's a clear need as its renders the forums less than usable so archiving the ancient stuff now without a vote I think is justified. I'd even suggest archiving anything as recent as 6 months. Agent c (talk) 14:17, September 12, 2013 (UTC)

Any forums that are officially closed should be archived. If need be, they may be un-archived following re-opening of discussion. --Skire (talk) 19:15, September 12, 2013 (UTC)
I've created a new header named "The Archives" under "Other" in the Forum Index. I think we should only move stuff from "Wiki discussion" and "Wiki proposals and applications" as the policies one is new and should be kept anyways. The game ones really never get utilized as much to require archiving. What do you guys think? I think it's time to move anything that is a closed poll, closed discussion or older than say Dec 2012. That is a full 10 months old.--Kingclyde (talk) 04:28, September 14, 2013 (UTC)

Lets do it then. fire up the bot. Agent c (talk) 00:24, September 15, 2013 (UTC)
