Detailed walkthrough[]
The quest is started by speaking with Scout Leader Pompy at the Kiddie Corner Cabins. Note that the location is usually inhabited by snallygasters or radscorpions, and a mirelurk queen may emerge from the nearby toxic dried lakebed, though if she is there, her bellowing roar as she surfaces will warn players of her presence.
Pompy asks the Vault Dweller to collect five toxic mutagenic waste spills around the Toxic Valley region. Possible locations include Grafton, Hemlock Holes, the toxic dried lakebed, and Willard Corporate Housing. Once all five spills are collected, return to the Kiddie Corner Cabins. Find the easternmost cabin, and deposit the waste in the blue containment barrel located next to the armor workbench.
This completes the quest, and grants 300 XP, 50 caps, one pemmican, as well as random aid items and grenades. In addition, there is a 50% chance to receive Plan: Pioneer Scout Bowie knife paint. Depending on the status of the overarching Pioneer Scout quest The Order of the Tadpole, there is also a 25% chance to be rewarded with either a Tadpole badge (if the quest is incomplete) or a Possum badge (if the quest was completed.)
Quest stages[]
Notes[]
The collection of waste is defined by quest stages 10 to 50, while the quest itself is started by quest stage 100.
Bugs[]
- Upon completion of the quest, an additional Tadpole or Possum badge may not be awarded with the other rewards.[verified]
- This may be fixed by leaving the world and joining a new one. It may take multiple tries.
After the quest starts, approaching the location where the toxic mutagenic waste spawns can cause the pools that need to be collected to de-spawn, rendering them unobtainable to collect, though the objective markers will still be where they should be.[verified]
