reload action

i havent played Dead Money yet, the pistol looks like a.44 and fires .357 but my question is when you reload is it like the .44 with a speed loader or is it like the .357 with single rounds reloaded at a time?

Its a side pivot, so it reloads with a speed loader. - Ski

If I were to guess, it most resembles a Smith and Wesson revolver known as a 38/44 Heavy Duty, the precursor to the .357 magnum. Built on a 44 special frame, it shoots high velocity (not quite .357 magnum) 38 caliber bullets.

Does anyone know if the cowboy perk effects this pistol?

Pretty sure the damage on this pistol is wrong. With 94 Guns skill, cowboy perk, and JFP ammo mine is only reaching 37 damage, while my .357 Magnum revolver(without barrel extension) is at 40 damage on the Pip-Boy... - Ski

It looks like a Colt to me based on the cylinder release. Its odd that you always fire it in single action. ~ VD5

Yep, I'm gonna say it's a Colt Commando. It comes in .357, and it's also known as the Colt Official Police. AkoraZ3RO 22:47, March 31, 2011 (UTC)

Mods

Does anyone know if the police pistol can be modded with the .357 magnum revolver mods?

It can't, already tried. Still very good sidearm, especially with jacketed flat points. 68.33.132.209 07:36, December 26, 2010 (UTC)

Not affected by Cowboy Perk

This pistol is really good especially with JHP rounds. Strange it's not affected by the cowboy perk. Anyone think they will fix that? 'That Gun' wasn't affected but they fixed that and that's a really obscure weapon, so hopefully they fix this one too. It would be awesome then. Sucks taking a perk and then not having it work right.Ninety9Soulz 07:39, December 26, 2010 (UTC)

Hoping this gets fixed Spraynpray9932 19:21, May 2, 2011 (UTC)

It's been stated otherwise, so I'll clear it up here - the Police Pistol is STILL unaffected by the Cowboy or The Professional perks, regardless of the latest patch.--FAR-02C 00:15, June 10, 2011 (UTC)

Are we sure it's double-action?

Now, I don't know much about guns, but I thought if you had to pull the hammer back manually, it was single action. And while you have to do that with the police pistol, the page states it's double action. Am I incorrect on the classification of single and double action? Or is the page wrong?--With care and happiness, Supermutantslayer450' YOU. LOSE. 00:21, June 10, 2011 (UTC)

It is a double action gun but on these types of guns you still have the option of cocking the hammer back like a single action gun, which makes the trigger pull easier and therefore more accurate. So it's probably just the Couriers preference to cock the hammer everytime. -Mark

But how can you tell it is double action revolver?--Skipbomber 18:07, June 30, 2011 (UTC)

The frame design and swing out cylinder. Single action: Have to cock hammer to fire. Double action: Can pull hammer back or fire without oulling hammer. Double action only: No hammer/Internal striker, full trigger pulls only. User:Great_MaraUser talk:Great_Mara 18:11, June 30, 2011 (UTC)
Ok I see it now I just wanted some clarification on this. Thanks--Skipbomber 18:35, June 30, 2011 (UTC)
