Great to hear from you mate. It'd be great if I could hold onto a Patron I'm looking to get back involved in the maintenance and community. Hope all has been well! Kiwi 3992205 16:00, June 7, 2013 (UTC)

Van Buren location pages

I wasn't sure about it, but after you moved them leaving hundreds of red links, I reverted it all again. Now, an hour later and after checking all other Van Buren pages I see that most other pages are decapped, except for the location pages. Suppose it's ok to decap those then. (I assume you do all of them). Don't know about the Robot parts page, try User:Korney San, he's the one who created the page. Jspoel Speech Jspoel 18:04, June 9, 2013 (UTC)

Why are you moving pages again? Just leave a redirect. Also, your bans are a bit steep. I often see you give a 2 weeks ban for a first offense. Cudder x's ban was set at 3 days by Gunny, just removing his talkpage right would have been enough, you didn't have to up it that much. Jspoel Speech Jspoel 18:20, June 9, 2013 (UTC)

Yeah, I don't know what's going on with user retrieval over at The Vault. It worked without a hitch for me, but everyone else is finding it impossible to re-access their accounts. -_- --Kastera (talk) 04:10, June 10, 2013 (UTC)

I can't keep up with the changes

I don't know what to say.

I hope I have not turned you against me.

  • I might agree with some of the people some of the time, and some other people other times but I can not agree with all of the people, all of the time.

All the people, even odd balls, should have a representative. I hope you can be one.

Just don't ask me to hold my tongue or support what I know in my heart is wrong.

Anon voting on polls is sketchy as they can avoid IP address issues for free at Mc Donalds and countless, coffee shops, schools or other libraries the list could go on and on.

  • I suggest let them post on articles.. They can be easily fixed by our already proven dedicated army of editors.

However If they want a standing opinon.. They should join & be held accountable for their voice. Anons are not alowed in chat. Why should they be allowed to vote ?

  • I say be a member and take credit or blame for every thing you write.

I speak from obvious experience.

"Speculation My Butt"

This hypocritical silliness is driving nuts. The item is called "Dandy Boy Apples", And the company is called "Andy Boy". The only difference between the two is the addition of the letter "D" and the addition of word "Apples". If you read something in a game called "Rodunkin Chocolate Doughnuts" you can't convince me it wasn't intended to be a direct reference to Dunkin Doughnuts. But just to nail this head in even further, Andy Boy sells produce, and the item includes the addition of the word "Apples"; APPLES! This reference isn't subtle at all, it's blatantly obvious.

If after all I've said and you're still not convinced, then I officially I give up. This has got to be one of the stupidest things I've ever argued about, and it's only because it is so stupid that I'm even arguing it to this extent in the first place.

But here is other thing that got me worked up about this whole thing. Most of the editors on this site are only editing for the bragging rights of those dumb tokens you guys hand out. Why else would an edit be removed within less than two minutes of it being posted? At that speed you know they barely considered what they were doing. As an anonymous user I feel like I have to fight tooth and nail with every single edit. Even if it's something stupid that should obviously be changed.--108.183.41.123 08:21, June 10, 2013 (UTC)

Let me break this down. Their is only two parts of the item "Dandy Boy Apples" item that makes it an indirect reference to "Andy Boy ------" produce company.
The first is the "D" in "Dandy Boy", instead of it simply being called "Andy Boy". This is why I'm ninety-nine percent positive this is a developer-intended reference. First, ask yourself why they choose to use the words dandy and boy, together. They could have used anything! They could have called them Good Boy or Happy Girl or Laughing Man or any other numerous combinations. They could have even called them Apples in a Box. Just why did they choose those two specific words that are so similar to the company's namesake? It's far too coincidental for this not to be on purpose. The chances of it being coincidental is that missing one-percent.
The second, as you pointed out, is the use of the word "Apples". And I actually do agree with you to some extent on this point, however, it still works with the reference. In part I agree with you because if the item in-game was called "Andy Boy Mufflers" for example, we definitely wouldn't consider it a reference to the Andy Boy produce company because Andy Boy isn't an automotive company. However, it is a produce company. When someone thinks of produce, their going to think of any fruit or vegetable. So if the in-game item was called "Andy Boy Apples" or "Andy Boy Mangos", people would consider it odd that the item has a fruit in it that the company doesn't sell. But on the other hand, since it is a form of produce (and they are a produce selling company), people would still recognize the reference to the company regardless.
On a side note, information about the company on the internet seems to be rather scarce from what I can tell. They've been around since 1927, all across the nation, so it would not surprise me at all if at some point in time they sold apples, even if they don't now.
If after I've broken this all down and you still disagree with me, whatever. It's not important to me anymore, and their is no better way I could have explained it.
I certainly don't regret my edit, or even my initial reaction to it's removal, because the guy was a total jack wagon. They removed the edit in less than two minutes, which makes me highly doubtful they even considered it at all. And then they come up with the most obscene excuse I've ever heard of. Instead of saying something like "let's get opinions of more contributers first", or something like that, they immediately resort to "ask a developer". Like I have contacts with video game developers, pfffft. Or that even if I did, like I'm going to bother them with something so trivial, rightttttt. And yes, the task was forced upon me because I strongly doubt the person who disagrees with the edit in the first place is going to take that kind of initiative. But lastly, at the time I considered it a direct enough reference that we certainly didn't need it. So the suggestion that we needed a developer's consent made it all the more insulting. Also I was never angry with you, frustrated, not angry.
But finally I'm not making presumptions here, I've experienced it personally. I once removed something that indisputably false information. And within just a few minutes later some jerk reversed it. A day later I redid the edit again and nobody refuted it. So tell me, what possible motivation could that person have? A honest mistake is a possibility but it's doubtful. And considering this was certainly not the first time, I strongly believe that the bragging rights are to blame. Nearly all my edits get reversed, most of which I'm too lazy to give a crap about. Even simple grammar edits get changed. And I don't make edits in less I'm positive it's the right thing to do, so you can see where I'm coming from here. It's absolutely frustrating to make any edit at all because their is a near certainty some overzealous bonehead is just going to remove it as soon as you post it.--108.183.41.123 09:02, June 11, 2013 (UTC)

Ciao

Hey man, I saw you venting on FB about the whole love thing. Just so you know, all I was doing was trying to inject some humour into their little argument, and that was one of the ways. If you look at all I wrote, I also made sure people didn't take that seriously and drag you into it. It was just taking the piss out of how stupid the whole argument was.

Anyway, I disagree personally that love is disrespectful, and think it's more of an interchangeable term of endearment, like you would use mate or man for a guy.

This taught me an important personal lesson though; the guys are right, you can't say anything on chat without people searching through the logs to find something to be offended by. Sorry if you are offended, but you need to look further next time. Everyone there understood what I was doing and that the whole thing was a joke: that's the problem with not being there, it removes a lot of context.

-- G͕͇̰͓̱̭̑̒̿̈́ͮ͌̓ͅO̝̪̯̲͖̦͔ͦ̉́̾̽T͓͖ͤ͊W̛̝̓̽ Ù̻͉̽́s̛͒͌͒̄͐ͨě͍͉̦͙͇ͨ̈ͦ͢r̨̞͔̜̹̹̦̪ͨͤ͗̆͐͛ | T̯̙̀ͣͪ̀̔̚a̮̞͓͈͖̒l̿ͩk̢̲̬̱̬͉̲ 13:54, June 10, 2013 (UTC)

Oh right. Yeah, I was uning it to point out how ridiculous the entire argument was, nothing more. It started around 2 my time, so probably before 1 if you want to look it up on the chat logs for peace of mind. I just wanted you to know that I wasn't dragging you into it, and was just using it to be sarcastic. Nothing more.

Here you go, found what I said, cutting out the middle buts because no-one was paying attention to what I was saying anyhow. <Ug-Qualtoth> Wait, something interesting. In leon's last message to her, he addressed her as 'love'. "Sorry that I didn't make it last night, love. Something came up and I wasn't back home until late. ForGaroux Some Assembly Required! 23:18, June 7, 2013 (UTC) " Is that demeaning language? Discuss. <Ug-Qualtoth> No, I left and then came back when I saw Leon's message. I just though it was interesting that he decided to call her love. <Ug-Qualtoth> However, I'm not trying to drag Leon into it <Ug-Qualtoth> Personally, I think objecting to terms like that is objecting for the sake of objecting. It's just like calling a man 'mate' or 'pal'. <Ug-Qualtoth> You'd sound like a knob if that was a women

There you have it. No problem, right? :) I think that the n-word thing is pertinent for a completely different reason. Some black people do get annoyed with anyone using it (Oprah), some advocate its use by all in order to destigmatise it (Donald Glover) and some think that only black people should use it (Jay-Z). This is just like feminism and the whole chauvinism argument because there is no agreement on what is offensive and what isn't. I think in general though, black people would get annoyed with someone using the n word, especially here. -- G͕͇̰͓̱̭̑̒̿̈́ͮ͌̓ͅO̝̪̯̲͖̦͔ͦ̉́̾̽T͓͖ͤ͊W̛̝̓̽ Ù̻͉̽́s̛͒͌͒̄͐ͨě͍͉̦͙͇ͨ̈ͦ͢r̨̞͔̜̹̹̦̪ͨͤ͗̆͐͛ | T̯̙̀ͣͪ̀̔̚a̮̞͓͈͖̒l̿ͩk̢̲̬̱̬͉̲ 16:37, June 10, 2013 (UTC)

Well I definitely think you're in the minority there. Personally, I think seen as it has it has it's roots in degradation, it should be left alone. But I'd only hold it against someone if they tried to use it derogatorily.

Steer clear of using 'rape my rig' too. That's not cool; ever. What Hawk said was fucking awful. Just think about writing something like that in future, especially bearing in mind that that is now permanently bound to your account and is, in my opinion, a mark on your character. -- G͕͇̰͓̱̭̑̒̿̈́ͮ͌̓ͅO̝̪̯̲͖̦͔ͦ̉́̾̽T͓͖ͤ͊W̛̝̓̽ Ù̻͉̽́s̛͒͌͒̄͐ͨě͍͉̦͙͇ͨ̈ͦ͢r̨̞͔̜̹̹̦̪ͨͤ͗̆͐͛ | T̯̙̀ͣͪ̀̔̚a̮̞͓͈͖̒l̿ͩk̢̲̬̱̬͉̲ 17:41, June 10, 2013 (UTC)

Oh yeah, that common and utterly acceptable figure of speech. I disagree with the majority of the points on there. And to use your own words, 'It is not up to us to determine whether a word is offensive or not. The only ones who have the right to do so are the ones a word personally affects.' Well, it personally affects me, and I'm offended.

"If someone... feels uncomfortable... I defend their right to ask others to stop. The same goes for rape - if a rape victim or observer is personally touched by the term, then they have a right to shut down if others are making light of it." It's not quite so close as an observer (why the fuck would someone observe that and not do something?) or victim, but its close enough. So, as I know by your own words that you linked that you'll back me up on this. -- G͕͇̰͓̱̭̑̒̿̈́ͮ͌̓ͅO̝̪̯̲͖̦͔ͦ̉́̾̽T͓͖ͤ͊W̛̝̓̽ Ù̻͉̽́s̛͒͌͒̄͐ͨě͍͉̦͙͇ͨ̈ͦ͢r̨̞͔̜̹̹̦̪ͨͤ͗̆͐͛ | T̯̙̀ͣͪ̀̔̚a̮̞͓͈͖̒l̿ͩk̢̲̬̱̬͉̲ 18:31, June 10, 2013 (UTC)

Well then, count me among the 'observers'. And you 'don't necessarily condone it'? Necessarily? I'd hope you wouldn't condone it at all. And, in this instance, only animals and people have birth canals. Like I said, I take exception to what you said, but understand your meaning. What Eric said is fucking disgraceful at any rate, and is way to close to the bone when it comes to rape, regardless of personal outlook. -- G͕͇̰͓̱̭̑̒̿̈́ͮ͌̓ͅO̝̪̯̲͖̦͔ͦ̉́̾̽T͓͖ͤ͊W̛̝̓̽ Ù̻͉̽́s̛͒͌͒̄͐ͨě͍͉̦͙͇ͨ̈ͦ͢r̨̞͔̜̹̹̦̪ͨͤ͗̆͐͛ | T̯̙̀ͣͪ̀̔̚a̮̞͓͈͖̒l̿ͩk̢̲̬̱̬͉̲ 19:12, June 10, 2013 (UTC)

Then I think this is definitely the point to draw a line under this. I'll pass on that conversation, I can't see that we will share the same views. Goals, perhaps, methods, probably not. Thankfully, I know enough about nihilism to make that call ;) Professionalism is probably not the best reason for ending this where it is, as I doubt it was a professional thing to say in the first place, but I think it'd be best to stop here for our friendship if nothing else. See you around Leon :) -- G͕͇̰͓̱̭̑̒̿̈́ͮ͌̓ͅO̝̪̯̲͖̦͔ͦ̉́̾̽T͓͖ͤ͊W̛̝̓̽ Ù̻͉̽́s̛͒͌͒̄͐ͨě͍͉̦͙͇ͨ̈ͦ͢r̨̞͔̜̹̹̦̪ͨͤ͗̆͐͛ | T̯̙̀ͣͪ̀̔̚a̮̞͓͈͖̒l̿ͩk̢̲̬̱̬͉̲ 19:32, June 10, 2013 (UTC)

I certainly understand there are degrees of it, as with any philosophy, but if you self identify as a nihilist, then the degree is already certain in its lower threshold. Your right, it won't be. But I wasn't going to come across what Hawk said and not say anything, I'm not that kind of guy. Equally, I'm pleased I'm not the only one who though that was out of order, and as far as I'm concerned, it's been dealt with, and it's over. I'm here for content creation, not for arguments.

Template move

Why did you rename the pre-war company template? The Gunny  380px-USMC-E7 svg 00:03, June 13, 2013 (UTC)

Pre-War was used in the articles. The template used the correct form in the title parameter. What you've done by renaming the template is force the page to call the template through the redirect, not to mention you only changed the name of the template and did not change any of the template coding or associated template doc that calls on the template also. Are you going to correct all the pages linking to the template and correct the template and doc so we can get rid of the calls through the redirect? The Gunny  380px-USMC-E7 svg
That's my point. All you've done is rename the template. The title of the navbox, what is actually displayed on the page, is a parameter that is already using the correct form, i.e. Pre-War. The usage of the template {{Navbox pre-war companies}} is not only not displayed on the page, but is still exactly that in the source code of the pages. Either you are extending the article page naming standards to the template page, which frankly is not needed, or you have a problem with the template usage in the source code of a page not meeting article page standards, which is also not needed. What I don't want is any template calls going through redirects. Our pages take long enough to load as it is. If for some reason you still need to have the template page meet the naming standards, you'll have to not only change all the page links, but also change the template itself and the doc so we can get rid of the redirects. I don't understand why you felt the need to rename a template that was functioning properly. The Gunny  380px-USMC-E7 svg 01:10, June 13, 2013 (UTC)
Well that means that the display title parameter in the navbox is somehow screwed up. If the title parameter is defined, it should override the default {{PAGENAME}} title set up in the navbox template. All we really needed to do is figure out why that wasn't working right and fix that, rather than go through all the extra work. The pre-war countries navbox is rendering the title correctly, so there must be something wrong in the pre-war companies one. I'll see if I can find it. The Gunny  380px-USMC-E7 svg 01:18, June 13, 2013 (UTC)
Go ahead and finish then. The edit link to the template doc is right on the template page itself, in the template documentation header. Easiest way to get there. Or just navigate to template:templatename/doc. The Gunny  380px-USMC-E7 svg 01:23, June 13, 2013 (UTC)
Go ahead and delete the redirect after you get all the links, if you would. Check "what links here" on the redirect page before you delete it to make sure you got them all, or you'll just have Js asking about the red links in the morning. The Gunny  380px-USMC-E7 svg 01:27, June 13, 2013 (UTC)

Marigold Station

I'm not going to argue about the capitalisation, but please do not ever move such a page without leaving a redirect behind. There are now hundreds of red links. --Skire (talk) 01:36, June 13, 2013 (UTC)

Invent some non-existent "condescension" on my part if you wish, but my message was to serve one function: to inform you of the red links we have left behind from not leaving a redirect. The redirects should be removed once all the links are cleared, which at this point there are still many remaining. Furthermore, this provides a chance to fix any double redirects resulting. I am currently going through and fixing links and double redirects and will delete the page when the task is complete. I am quite saddened that a well-intended, benign message could be taken with such animosity and vitriol. --Skire (talk) 01:43, June 13, 2013 (UTC)
I put the "please" there to make it sound like more of a polite request. I have never told you what to do in my time here and will not start now. And I also just got to see Gunny's message above, "Go ahead and delete the redirect after you get all the links, if you would. Check "what links here" on the redirect page before you delete it to make sure you got them all..." There is no benefit in having red links like these. Anyway, I'm going to run those fixes now. I sincerely hope that at this point it is clear I have only the utmost respect for you and every message I send is in good-faith with well-meaning intentions, and I apologise for any miscommunication on my part. --Skire (talk) 01:50, June 13, 2013 (UTC)

I said it was speculation as I lacked any info that indicated they were homosexual or lovers or anything along those lines. I hadn't noticed Ausir's post on the article talk page and nonetheless feel a small degree of doubt over adding information based on trusting a third party. Ties he may have, but I like having proof I can click on as citations, etc and I feel something like this would require said citation, beyond "According to the developer notes (which we can't show you.)". Companies

I reverted the companies. I believe "Company" is capped. And I don't why you are so keen on moving instead of redirecting. First redirect, then return to the redirect, click on WhatLinksHere and change these links to the new page. Then you can delete the redirect. Not the other way around. A few days ago the same thing happened to the Van Buren pages. Probably escaped your attention, but I had to correct dozens of red links. If I hadn't seen it the links probably still would have been there. And now you're giving Skire work he didn't ask for. First ask around before you do something this drastic. Jspoel Speech Jspoel 13:42, June 13, 2013 (UTC)

I'm not going to revert it (yet). I want a second (or third) opinion. On wikipedia, in real-life, it's Coca-Cola Company with a capital C, see wikipedia. Only logical that the game's equivalent is Nuka-Cola Company. Jspoel Speech Jspoel 16:53, June 13, 2013 (UTC)
Who told you about not making redirects anymore? Gunny? He probably meant, first fix the old links to the new page, then delete the redirect. Jspoel Speech Jspoel 16:55, June 13, 2013 (UTC)
I specifically told you that I don't want any templates linking through redirects. Not that I don't think we should keep redirects to an absolute minimum anyways, but the conversation we had was solely about a redirect linking through a template. Your interpretation that I meant all redirects is of your own making. I also suggested that you fix the pages in the manner above, clear the links through "what links here" on the redirect page and then delete. If you have to do it some other way because of your hardware limitations, that's fine, as long as the links get cleaned up and the redirect gets deleted, like we would expect from anyone. Just so you know, we've been working on reducing the number of redirects for quite some time. A ton of work has gone into it and we've deleted hundreds of them. I guess this may be something you weren't aware of. Keeping the number of unneeded redirects to a minimum will be a big help. The Gunny  380px-USMC-E7 svg 19:52, June 13, 2013 (UTC)
We have had this talk before, in chat. You were specifically complaining about all of the unnecessary redirects, and how you were attempting to remove them. That's the whole reason why I've been doing all of this, especially with the VB pages - since those definitely don't need any redirects. The nav-box re-naming issue is just the most recent discussion you and I have had over this. But yes, I am going through all of the passages and am cleaning them all out. Mostly manual, but I have a bot that's going to be helping soon. (Not relating to the nav-box.) ForGaroux Some Assembly Required! 19:56, June 13, 2013 (UTC)

Try to get information where you can on Van Buren pages before you remove a stub. For example I found information for the Successfully subdue engineer without alerting others quest on the B.O.M.B.-001 command center#Engineering Core page by checking the WhatLinksHere option. Redirects

I prefer changing the links and deleting the redirect. That's what I've been doing. Of course on pages with a huge number of links, this becomes more problematic. Also there are some redirects that make sense to have, but generally ones created from page moves due to spelling, etc, those make no sense at all to keep. The Gunny  380px-USMC-E7 svg 23:43, June 13, 2013 (UTC)

Do it. I would if I could but he's not in chat or acting up in chat and therefore outside my jurisdiction :/ . Richie9999 (talk) 17:57, June 17, 2013 (UTC)

Rise of the Tyrant

You and your colleagues are by definition tyrants, and hypocrites at that. Fortunately your unchecked and worthless power does not grasp beyond this Wikia, although I do feel bad for those who wish to enjoy the offerings of this website and have to be subjected by the harassment from individuals like yourself, which seems to make up the entirety of the Fallout Wikia administration.. I find it silly as well that you think removing my right to speech on the chats has phased me in anyway, it has simply proven my hypothesis on the characteristics of you and your subordinates.Understand where we'd be without the freedoms that you desire so much to take awayMegamanacses (talk) 20:10, June 18, 2013 (UTC)

Cheerful chap, that was. Hugs MadeMan2 "Say 'ello to my little friend!"

My image

Tjeez, that one scares me! I was thinking more in line of Ausir's avatar. Like me standing in front of a Vault door, as an overseer in a mighty pose. Done enough around here to deserve one like that, right? Jspoel Speech Jspoel 12:38, June 19, 2013 (UTC)

Vaults

Why is information about "Secret Vaults" from the none canon game Fallout Brotherhood of Steel allowed to be on the main page of Vaults without any disclaimers. It does confuse people. They see it on the main page and think it is apart of Fallout canon. It shouldn't be allowed IMO.

Edit: Saw your message to me. But my point is there should be something there to say "this isn't canon."

--StylesV13 (talk) 21:59, June 19, 2013 (UTC)StylesV13

I see your point but didn't Bethesda say Fallout Brotherhood of Steel isn't canon? I am sure they did in an interview with the people from MMA. And didn't Interplay under Hervé Caen say themselves that Fallout Brotherhood of Steel isn't canon. I get that it should be included in the wiki. It has its own page and subpages that have disclaimers. But information from the game shouldn't be included in other main topics such as Vaults without disclaimers. Just my two cents. I am sorry if I am being annoying, I am not trying to pick a fight/ruffle people's feathers. The game just bugs me, thanks for the replies and your explanation.

When I get the time I will go about putting in disclaimers.

Uploaded Images

It was late and it had been sometime since I last uploaded an image, I forgot about the cursor thing. Jspoelstra has taken care of it from the looks of it :). I will remember it for the future. I was surprised those images weren't already here, as you said I guess not to many people look up.

I posted them because someone on the Bethesda forum said that there was no mention of World War 2 by Bethesda and I knew that wasn't right. So I reinstalled the game and went to the Museum to prove it. I also checked out the Resource Wars section and I noticed that there is no mention of Bethesda including a metion of it in Fallout 3.

Me? Me!

I love everything about it, except the hair. It's a bit too much Miami gangster instead of classical Chicago mobster. Maybe a smooth wave, eh? I love everything about it beyond that little detail, though (I'm so sorry, I feel really nitpicky)! Hugs MadeMan2 "Say 'ello to my little friend!"

Both are suave as duckballs, I love them! You get to choose, do you like me better in a hat or without? ;3 Hugs MadeMan2 "Say 'ello to my little friend!"

For NCR character

Interesting Leon! Sounds like a fun and well themed project. I agree with the death-from-a-distance fighter type, and I do like the "wishing to finally be a ranger" plan, but I'm not THAT old looking, am I? Just some retouches with the gray hair and some minor edits to the model, and I'll be set =) --User ncr A Safe People is a Strong People! 03:30, June 23, 2013 (UTC)

Happy Birthday Sir!

Apparently I needed a reminder to remember and I also got a stern tongue-lashing for not remembering a few other birthdays this year...

But since I remembered regardless! Here ya are sir:

You sir, need to appear in chat more often as I could not come up with a single gift that would make a reference to your character with humorous subtexts. So unfortunately... it has come to this. My friend... you have just been served. --The Ever Ruler (talk) 03:56, June 23, 2013 (UTC)
