The Saugus River is a waterway running through the New England, north of Boston.

Background[]

The Saugus River flows for 13 miles (21 km), passing by Lynn Woods, Parsons State Insane Asylum, the Slog and Hub City Auto Wreckers as it meanders east and south to the Boston Harbor near Gibson Point Pier. The Saugus Ironworks used the river's power centuries before the Great War and now carries water past post-War settlements such as Breakheart Banks and Finch farm.[1]

Appearances[]

The Saugus River appears only in Fallout 4.

Behind the scenes[]

The Saugus River is based on the real world location of the same name, a river following an equivalent path through the Boston metro area. The real world Saugus Ironworks is located on its banks.

A small family farm on the banks of the Saugus River, with a corn field and melon patch, has fallen to the oversized hands of a Super Mutant gang. Remember to loot the trunk on the top floor of the central shack. Need a drink? Try a Quantum on the small lookout platform to the east."
