So, you finally wise up, beautiful? Do you realize I'm the only one for you?

Myron is the Mordino Family's drug wizard, a companion the Chosen One can recruit, and the bane of New Reno's prostitutes in 2241.

Background

Myron was an obnoxious, adolescent genius, and the inventor of jet, which he invented to aid the Mordino family's vile exploits and also in exchange for prostitutes, a laboratory, and cash. He could be found wasting time at the Stables in the basement. The Stables are located north of New Reno.

Curiously, he is a racist and hates Marcus. Myron died around 2242, less than a year after the defeat of the Enclave, stabbed by a jet addict while drinking in the Den. His discovery of jet was quickly forgotten, and now there is no one who remembers his name.

Quests

Other interactions

  • He will join the Chosen One if they play to his ego and convince him that leaving town might make the Mordinos realize how valuable he is to them.
  • While usually inept in combat, Myron is a skilled chemist, and can make antidotes, stimpaks and super stimpaks if the Chosen One gives him the proper ingredients. He's basically more of a scientific genius than a fighter, as he possesses a high Science skill. He can also get the Chosen One the cure for jet addiction if his/her Speech and Intelligence are high enough.
  • Playing a charismatic female character will change his dialogue tree to a sexual tone to the Chosen One.
  • If the Chosen One has a low Intelligence, low Endurance, high Charisma or is a female character, Myron will offer the player a spiked drink when first talked to.
  • If the Chosen One comes to the Stables by car, Myron will comment on it.

Notes

  • Even if you don't kill him during the game, he will always have the same ending you get if you do kill him.
  • In the Shark Club, in New Reno, the comedian there will eventually start making fun of Myron.
  • Since Myron is a teenager, the game considers him a child and killing him may make the Chosen One earn the Childkiller reputation.
    • The exception to the above is to take him to the Sierra Army Depot, down to the fourth level and leave him in the room alone with the automated organ extraction table. Once it is activated, he dies a horrible violent death and his brain is removed with no penalty to the Chosen One.
  • Myron disgusts Cassidy because Cassidy hates chems - and Myron created Jet. Not to mention that Myron is also a pretty horrible guy overall, what with him being supportive of slavery and the killing of more than a hundred slaves to perfect a drug. The clincher though might just be that Myron is a very big coward at heart.

Notable quotes

  • "Okay, okay! I'll wait here! Phew. You could show me respect, you know. I am MYRON."
  • "Why don't we go back to the first level of the dungeon where all the kobolds are?"
  • "What the hell are you talking about?"
  • "So, you finally wise up, beautiful? Do you realize I'm the only one for you?"
  • "Yeah, what? Can't you see I'm thinking here?"

Appearances

Myron appears only in Fallout 2.

Behind the scenes

  • Myron was designed by Chris Avellone.[1]
  • After convincing Myron to follow the Chosen One, he has the option of saying an altered quote from the movie The Blues Brothers.
  • The comment about kobolds is likely a reference to the game Eye of the Beholder.
