The Silver Shroud costume, also called the Silver Shroud armor, and Silver Shroud hat are a unique outfit in Fallout 4.

Characteristics[]

A recreation of the costume worn by the comic book character, the Silver Shroud. Equipping both parts grants a temporary 15% reduction to damage dealt by human and ghoul enemies and temporary +1 to Agility with the coat as well as a temporary +1 to Perception with the hat.

When initially found, the outfit will be named "Silver Shroud Costume" and has very poor Damage and Energy Resistances but decent Radiation Resistance. It can only be turned into the "Silver Shroud Armor" and gain better DR and ER stats by starting the side quest, The Silver Shroud, requiring talking to Kent Connolly in the Memory Den in Goodneighbor.

If that quest is then completed with Kent still alive, he will subsequently offer to create upgrades to the Silver Shroud armor, the availability of which depending on the player character's level (see the table below for details and stats). Whenever a new upgrade is available, the Silver Shroud Radio station will become active when the player character is around Goodneighbor, and Kent will state he has a "special delivery."

According to Kent, turning the costume into an armored version involves implanting varying models of personnel defense implements to complement its protection value, including salvaged combat armor,[1] a pre-War flak jacket,[2] and a series of poly-laminated plates.[3] None of the upgrades affect the outfit's appearance, however.

Location[]

The costume version and hat can be found at the top floor of Hubris Comics on a mannequin against a tattered backdrop; the building is infested with feral ghouls including a glowing one. It is considered a quest item and cannot be dropped from the inventory until brought to Kent during the side quest where it is then replaced with the armor version.

Notes[]

  • Once fully upgraded to the version available at level 45, the Silver Shroud armor is second only to the Railroad heavy armor MK V and the Operators armored dress Nuka-World (add-on) in terms of Damage Resistance for outfits, but lags behind in Energy Resistance. The trade-off is that the Shroud armor weighs far less than the Railroad coat and Operators dress at 7 pounds, instead of 50 and 71 respectively.
  • Talking to Kent Connolly with the quest active but not yet in possession of the costume will result in him telling them to return when they have it.
  • Wearing the costume will result in changes to the ambient commentary by NPCs in Goodneighbor; ghoul citizens and local criminals may react to the player character with mocking, scoffing, or admiration.
  • Wearing the costume will unlock unique dialogue with comic-book-themed characters in the Commonwealth, namely Manta Man in the The Return of Manta Man! random encounter and the Mechanist in the Automatron add-on.
  • Nuka-World (add-on) Wearing the costume unlocks unique dialogue with several characters in Nuka-World including Colter and the Protectron employees of Dry Rock Gulch.
  • The Silver Shroud costume can't be placed on armor racks until the side quest has been completed.

Bugs[]

PCPC Playstation 4Playstation 4 Xbox OneXbox One If you complete the quest after reaching level higher than 45, Kent won't offer any upgrades until you reach level 100. On PC, Using console command set MS04ArmorLevel to 45 and returning to Kent can fix this. This can also happen at lower levels (26-44). If you wish to get the earlier upgrades, you can set the armor's level to 25 or 35 using the console command. [verified]
