Subject 12 was an unwilling test subject captured by the researchers of Covenant in the Commonwealth in 2287.

Background[]

Subject 12 was a wastelander captured by the researchers at the Compound for their experiments to create a test to detect synth infiltrators. The testing was recorded in three holotapes, in which he was initially defiant but was soon coerced into going along with the SAFE test via electric shock torture.[2] The Compound researchers believe Subject 12's results indicate high likelihood of him being a synth, and intend to confirm their suspicions by examining his body after they kill him.[3] Meanwhile, Dr. Blythe is continuing to torture Subject 12 in order to "review" his results of question 4 of the SAFE test.[4]

Notes[]

*Painful cry* *Crying* I said... Catcher. Catcher... P-Please... *Moan*

There is an unused dialogue line consisting of Subject 12 crying and being tortured as part of the unimplemented scene MS17_315b_TortureSounds within the quest Human Error. This scene is never started by the quest, but is conditioned to end after Manny talks to Dr. Blythe while escorting the player character through the Compound (if the peaceful option was chosen). The context of the line also matches up with what Blythe claims to be doing ("reviewing" Subject 12's answers). In-game, the dialogue does not play, and Subject 12 does not appear anywhere inside the Compound, let alone in the room with Blythe.

Appearances[]

Subject 12 is mentioned only in Fallout 4.
