Possible if you finish the Wild Cards: Side Bets quest, the Caesar's Favour won't be updated, so you can't collect more supplies from the crates.

Why cant i trigger it?[]

I triggered the quest(Caesar's favour) on my first play, but why doesnt the disguised legion guy approach me on my second play?

I am also having the same problem. I triggered it on my first play, where my reputation only ever got to "Liked", on my second play through, I am idolized, and am yet to trigger it.

I have my suspicions that it may not trigger if you get the safehouse key, but
that seems fairly daft. If the Frumentarius page is to be believed, he tends
to spawn so far away that you don't notice him, use fast travel, and he
disappears permanently. A PC workaround is to use the console:
       1: prid 00164ED0
       2: disable
       3: enable
       4: kill
       5: resurrect
       6: moveto player
Finally got sick enough of this guy not showing up to orchestrate this. I've
only seen him once otherwise, just long enough for Sgt Astor's patrol to mow
him down, with the nearest save some 4 hours earlier!

The Supply Caches continue to restock[]

Even though my current character is suffering from the Xbox-360 bug that the "Bugs" section describes, I did not receive the quests either, but when I headed back to the location I found that the boxes had in fact replenished their contents. --Forerunner93 00:16, April 27, 2011 (UTC)

This is not a bug, as far as I can tell. The frumentarius tells you that you are allowed to use prohibited items the Legion is discarding. Basically, they are giving you the location of their garbage - it would be there anyway. They will continue to throw stuff away throughout the game, which is why you can take it without karma loss. So even if you are vilified, it's too late to stop you as you already know where the boxes are. Also, you may not be the only Legion agent they are/were leaving stuff for. --FourWayDiablo(talk) 16:37, October 2, 2011 (UTC)

Why work for the NCR? The Legion knows how to treat a Merc right![]

Honestly why on this post-apocalyptic Earth would anyone wanna work for the NCR when they give you complete crap, while the Legion rewards you as generously as this, I swear to God once I got about 50 STEALTH BOYS in a single crate that the Legion gave at the drop off point, and about 20000 caps worth of various types of ammunition, and what does the NCR give you for all your hard work just to reach Liked with them? A cruddy Safehouse with barely anything in it, and that NCR Emergency Radio? What a POS, you can't wear NCR uniform when you wanna use it because your not considered cool with the NCR, and then what do you get? The supply drop is about 25 caps worth of a common ammunition and some health item, the only benefit to the Radio is the "followers" you get when you use it.

My thoughts exactly, on a related note.. Since over 1,000 energy weapon cells can appear in the stash alone, it might be worth noting that this would indeed be one of the most abundant stocks of energy weapon cells in the game. I haven't noticed any vendors that sell even close to that amount. --Nothing. 04:56, August 12, 2011 (UTC)

NCR is kinda biased to seem a lot more badass. rangers are insanely glorified and probably the most badass things in the game, since centurions are so few and far between and the only one in the game doesnt do anything where NCR is always talking about how amazing rangers are. i'd much rather be a ranger then a centurion, but ive enjoyed my legion playthrough a lot more then my NCR playthrough regardless :p --96.48.200.217 03:11, November 6, 2011 (UTC)

Came back to this convo 7 years later. I also just got 53 Stealth Boys in a single box. WTF. The legend is true.

Where does he appear?[]

Is there any info in the GECK about where the disguised Frumentarius appears? First time I got this he appeared close to Camp Golf. 2nd time at the 188, and after talking to me he was instantly killed. 3rd time he never showed up at all, so I'm guessing he got killed.--Jolipinator 17:33, October 1, 2011 (UTC)

Its pretty much random I believe. On my latest playthrough he kept spawning at Camp Searchlight, and getting mowed down by Astor and his men. Not a very good disguise, eh? BILLYOCEAN Wanna talk? 17:35, October 1, 2011 (UTC)
  1. Kill bighorners and possibly molerats near the camp, so they don't kill him as he approaches.
  2. Get Legion fame (at Cottonwood cove is easiest).
  3. Immediately fast-travel to the camp, and wait/sleep a bit.
  4. A wild Frumentarius appears! Gives quest and then runs up Primm Pass to deliver lunch to the blind deathclaw.

Thanks, I did this and he finally showed up... but he did have crippled legs... Holythirteen (talk) 08:04, February 20, 2013 (UTC)

Yeah, I've had him appear after fast traveling to the 188 Trading Post, ...he killed the Arms Merchant, gave me the quest and ran off with the NCR Heavy Troopers chasing him extremely slowly. User:Great_MaraMessage 19:32, November 6, 2011 (UTC)

Idolized, yet no fifth box.[]

I used the Dog Tag quest to gain idolized fame by the Legion, but I have yet to get 5 extra boxes, I still have 4 out of the 5. Anything I'm missing here? Should I finish the Ring a Ding Ding quest to talk to Caesar? Felix BrehhUser talk:Felix Brehh 01:45, October 14, 2011 (UTC)

Try typing this in the console:

   set "163427".bBoxesDropped to 0

Note that this will get rid of the boxes if you've managed to piss off the Legion. --TheWealthyAardvark 22:35, January 16, 2012 (UTC)

Fixing Two-Time Only Bug?[]

I have the bug where the quest stops resetting after only two occurrences. Is there some way with the console to fix this and make the caches start re-filling again? This is really annoying.--Mister Twist 02:35, November 1, 2011 (UTC)

I share your Pain, I played through this section a few times before & now find as you said : "the bug where the quest stops resetting after only two occurrences."

I don't have an answer.

  • I just hope adding another voice to this issue might find us an answer. Best O'Luck to us booth

CupSaintPainThat was broke afore I got here. 10:33, December 6, 2011 (UTC)

Same thing here, been happening on two separate player accounts, extremely frustrating due to the fact that you could get a tremendous amount of supplies at higher levels. Like SaintPain I have no solution but hope to add another voice so this may raise attention and ultimately be fixed. SigmaDelta54 11:44, December 6, 2011 (UTC)

Solved. I'll upload a mod that fixes it permanently, but use this console command to fix it between iterations:

   set "163427".bLegionLeave to 1

This ought to get everything in the quest running again, including having more boxes appear when the quest respawns, and removing all of the boxes when you no longer meet the requirements for Caesar's Favor. Note that this will start the three day timer again, and thus you won't see the quest respawn for three in-game days. I wouldn't be surprised if Caesar's Hire and Caesar's Foe have similar errors in them, and I'll need to examine those scripts as well as the changes made in the Legionary Assassin - Caesars Favor - Caesars Hire - Fix to make sure everything is working properly. --TheWealthyAardvark 21:59, January 17, 2012 (UTC)

Not Replenishing[]

The dropboxes are not replenishing. I have a Liked rep and I am currently on the mission that requires destroying the BoS. I have been approached by the disguised guy once, and since then, have not received the quest again. Help!! 10:04, January 24, 2012 (UTC)LuckySix

OK happen to me to got accepted met the guy got the stuff got liked got the 4th box now I'm idolized and the boxes don't refill the quest doesn't fire and no fifth box all I have to say why cant these guys fix it like this is probably!the best damn. Thing about working for legion yet its tottaly screwed and I'm on 360 so I have no way of fixing it its b.s.

Did some testing[]

I recently did some testing with this quest on the Xbox 360. it seams that you will only receive this quest with an "accepted" reputation with the legion, if your rep is higher you will not recieve it. I also found that to make the other two boxes apaear you must first go and loot the boxes and then obtain "Idolized" rep within the three day period between the first and second instance of the quest apearing. I also found that after the second instance of the quest you must leave the immediate area for the boxes to restock simply standing in front of them for three days will not work. As final note I have found that after the second instance of the quest the boxes will continue to restock regardless of legion rep. Decoy906 19:52, February 18, 2012 (UTC) Decoy906

Just tried this on PS3 and it worked perfectly. Gave 15 NCR dogtags to Aurelius to get accepted, fast travelled to the Followers Outpost near Camp Golf and met the Frumentarius, emptied the dropbox, got to Idolized before the quest returned, and when it did return all the boxes were there. Thanks!--86.44.156.213 16:12, April 2, 2012 (UTC)

Constant Replenish[]

For me the boxes restock every time I leave the area and return, no need to wait three days. For example I can clear the boxes, fast travel to Nipton, fast travel to the Snipers Nest, then walk over and clear the boxes again.

I'm playing the PC ultimate edition.

Effect of "Waiting" on Quest[]

On my most recent play through I gave enough dogtags to earn idolized on the first visit to Decanus Severus during Arizona Scavenger. I then fast traveled to the 188 and waited an hour. The disguised Frumentarius appeared at the 188 and I got the Favor Quest and the Frumentarius took off in the direction of Cottonwood cove. I went to the cache site and all boxes/crates were there and filled (even got 55 stealth boys in the first visit).

I played some more then went to the 188. I arrived a few hours before the 3rd day trigger (after visiting the cache site). I then used the "Wait" feature for probably 24 hours. The quest appeared without me seeing the disguised Frumentarius. I went to the cache site and all crates were filled.

The quest never fired again but here are the conditions I am seeing that will get the crates to refill. You must do a 24 hour wait a few hours before the next scheduled Frumentarius visit. It appears that the visit date is 3 days after clearing out the crates at the reward site. This wait can be done from anywhere, but you must wait (24 hours worked for me.) Then the crates will be refilled.

Failing to do a 24 hour wait a few hours before the next visit will result in the crates ceasing to refill, regardless of waiting after the scheduled visit date/time or the number of hours/days played past the scheduled visit time. Even though I never got a second visit from the Frumentarius the crates would refill on schedule if I perfomed a "Wait" around what should have been the Frumentarius next visit date/time.

Note: I did my waiting outside and in different locations away from the cache/reward site.

For example (scheduled reward/visit date = Wed 2pm) On Wed 10am do a 24 hour "Wait": Result = Crates Fill Fail to wait for 24 hours around the Wed 10am visit time and the crates will not be filled, nor will they refill again. 72.66.107.212 06:00, January 12, 2014 (UTC)

Alright so I figured out how to make this work for 360 first get accepted than fast travel to 188 he should appear to your right go meet him and save right after just in case now go empty the boxes now you must get idolized before the quest fires for the second time if your liked when it fires you will never get the 5th box and they won't replenish I have tried and failed many times and after a few restarts I figured it out
