Good idea?

Are you waiting for an fallout 3 movie? --I3art 20:09, 26 May 2009 (UTC)

This could be epic or awful...I pray they be careful with this idea.GodPlageon 04:27, 27 May 2009 (UTC)

Bethesda is hogging all the fallout franchise rights, I just hope they do a good job. Imagine how horrific it would be if they made a cartoon series and put it on disney channel, THE HORROR!!!!!!!!! Everyone needs to know that Bethesda has to keep their balls to the wall and not run around careless.

Dear God, Imagine if they got someone like Uwe Boll to direct it... that would be such a kick in the balls.

you should know that ZeniMax has be in talks about licensing the right to a flim or tv show about the fallout universeBigDogW 19:38, 27 July 2009 (UTC)

Nooo, it doesn't already say that in the article. //--TehK 19:55, 27 July 2009 (UTC)

.You know what was a good idea, BOOK OF ELI,its just what the fallout movie should be like you knowmACTION,SPEEd,A GOOD STORY all that-Tommygunner32-18:14- Febuary 16 -2010

It would be a great idea and I'd see it in a heartbeat! Think about it they could do so much with the idea. As an example they could have a scene where the wanderer leaves the vault and see the outside for the first time. He (or she though I would assume he) could wander into Springvale where there could be some great atmospheric shots and the Audience would really be able to get a sence of what the outside world will be and was once like by seeing all the dirt and wrecked buildings. He could pick up a bottle of Nuka-Cola and look at it while kinda listening to an Enclave Eyebot for a sec before some raiders show up and attack him. Then a Deathclaw or somthing might show up and a chace scene ensues. It could really have an awesome story covering the main quest as long as: A It didn't really stray from the source material (pretty much at all), B kept the story so it goes full circle (such as you starting the purifier), C: kept it from being a three and a half hour movie, and D: Uwe Boll didn't make it. I just hope that by "straying from source material" you mean it doesn't stray from Fallout 1/2. Anyways, a movie would be a nice thing, but it'd have to focus on something seemingly minor in the universe - Vaults are overused in the franchise as main plot devices. Also, no Enclave. The best thing would be a psychological horror movie focusing on Vault 12 or the mutiny at Mariposa. Personal_Sig_Image.gif Tagaziel (call!) 07:05, March 8, 2010 (UTC)12 movie would probably involve
While that is a novel idea for the Fallout universe, there are a few flaws with it that are worth addressing. A movie like the one you suggest might alienate both fans and non-fans of the series- fans could find it contradictory to the nature and spirit of the games, while non- fans would just be baffled by the setting, ("Who's the green guy with the gun? He's a what? A Super- Duper- what?"). Even with the Fallout label, it might stilldraw meager revenues and negative reviews- something that goes against a movie studio's commitment to the almighty dollar. Also, while the vaults are a commonly used plot device, they are also synonymous with the series (What's the name of this wiki?). Any Fallout movie that didn't begin with the protagonist walking, running, limping, or crawling out a vault door just wouldn't be Fallout to most fans. On the other hand, perhaps a indie film with a small scale release would fit your idea- the niche audience would find it for themselves, and nobody would have explain to their grandmother about the green glowing person in the new commercial.205.188.116.13 04:07, July 11, 2010 (UTC)
They could do it in one of two ways, really. The first way is to just go entirely from the perspective of the Vault Dweller, where they're experiencing all these things alongside the main character, for the first time. Or they could use the first film to introduce everybody to the Fallout universe - by covering the events leading up to the war, vault life, and ending with the Vault Dweller exiting the vault for the first time.
Personally, I'd like to see the latter - as it would not only set the stage for the people not familiar with Fallout, but it would also be a change in perspective for those who are. The games of course, focus on how things are after the fact - because there's a world to explore, and besides a brief intro, most of the information is found via exploring. Obviously, you can't do that in a movie - but you can tell a story; especially with much better CGI than a game developer has the funds to access.
From there, with the audience on board, the sequels can start following the existing games. Digital Utopia (talk) 12:54, June 27, 2014 (UTC)

Possible confirmation by Ron Perlman

I haven't even noticed the Ron Perlman bit until now, even though it was added a few months ago. Do you guys think I should post it as news (given that most other people probably missed it too) or not (given that it's not really new)? Ausir(talk) 04:28, December 9, 2009 (UTC)

I say you go for it. Mmm, Crispy... 18:18, February 16, 2010 (UTC)

Fallout: The Movie seriously?

I could be wrong, but I can only imagine that a Fallout movie would just be the biggest cheeseball since Mortal Kombat II (The Movie), and I honestly think it would spoil the franchise for all of us.

Don't get me wrong, the Fallout series has endured worse ideas in the past (Fallout: BOS), but atleast that was before the height of Fallout's popularity, and so it's kinda' been forgotten thankfully.

I'm just guessing: the closest thing we'll ever have to a Fallout movie (That's any good), will be the Mad Max series (which the fallout games frequently reference), or even something like The Book of Eli, which doesn't quite fit in with the world of Fallout. (But neither did Mad Max, or better yet Fallout: Tactics)

Besides, isn't the whole beauty of Fallout being able to actually interact with the in-game world, making decisions that affect the world around you? being able to go anywhere, or do anything?

You can't be serious. This is the worst. Idea. Ever. I'd die if this EVER was made. User_AreYouGoingToEatThatNuke%3F_Game_image_4028.gif - NuclearWhip Blab 20:09, February 20, 2010 (UTC)

Funny you mention Mortal Kombat II, since a Fallout movie written by the writer of MK2 almost was made. Ausir(talk) 20:18, February 20, 2010 (UTC)
Seriously the movie would just be like a main quest in fallout because they wouldnt take the time or use their money to add side quests! Why woulds they? so Fallout + movie = No God damn ghouls 19:30, May 31, 2010 (UTC)

The sad truth of the matter is, just as the reverse is also true, movies based on games tend to be awful, or, in extreme cases, actual crimes against humanity. The reason is obvious: a good game is expected to take upwards of 40 hours to complete, whereas a good movie is expected to fit within the constraints of the average human bladder. However, I do think that if a studio and director viewed an adaptation as an actual artistic endeavour rather than a way of getting easy money out of fans, a good, maybe even great Fallout Movie could be made. That is, provided fans would permit some cut material- they really are massive games.205.188.116.13 04:23, July 11, 2010 (UTC)

I think that this would make a movie if they set it in During the great war when the world got screwed up maybe take the place of lance corporal Vance (yes i just referenced GTA:VC) and they probaly would make a better Thing with an intro explain why the world is like the way it is and they could explain the origin story of the Death claw that was a pre-war creature BTW and they might get some bang for there buck and maybe put in some hot actresses a well know and bad ass actors and A kick ass director that likes explosions but do not sacrifice story for it (no offence to Michael bay fans)

Deathclaws are explained in the games. As is the state of the world before the war, and the many things that led to the Great War itself. I take it you've yet to play Fallout 1 and 2? Hugs MadeMan2 "Say 'ello to my little friend!"

Elder Scrolls

I don't know if it's standard industry practice or not, but Zenimax has also registered The Elder Scrolls as a movie trademark.

Orginal Idea

I think that if any film was made that it shouldn't follow the games, I mean as don't follow the Vault Dweller, Chosen One or Lone Wander and definatly not the Courier.
