After 200 years the clones are still alive and unchanged? wow... or is there something else going on?

How do you know they're all the original clones, and don't just clone themselves continuously, when one of them dies? Their numbers also don't mean much, since e.g. the oldest one alive could always be called Gary 1. Ausir 21:31, 19 December 2008 (UTC)

Another Reference?[]

For those you that arnt from the UK this probaly dosnt mean much, but in the UK series 'Only Fools And Horses' (episode 'Strangers on the Shore') After a trip to France they get back (to the UK) to discover an illegal immigrant that has seemingly stowed away in their van. Naming him Gary, they house him, Gary dosnt understand or speak a word of english so all he does is constantly say the name he was given; "Gary".

Seems possible. A bit obscure given a US development studio, but the Fallout series has always included (sometimes obscure) references to pop culture.
I would go with that, they do watch Doctor Who after all.
The Gary clone reference could also be related to [1] The Heys from the Tick cartoon - a race of identical creatures (all looking like Arthur, the Tick's sidekick) who speak a language consisting of one word - "Hey".99.233.171.176 22:34, 21 April 2009 (UTC)
Oh yeah, i remember that episode.--OfficerBlue 15:37, 6 May 2009 (UTC)
The episode "Horrors of Spider Island" from Mystery Science Theater 3000 Season 10 has a group of people saying "Gary" over and over for at least five minutes in extremely similar tones to the clones in Fallout 3. If these have no affiliation with each other, it has to be an extremely odd coincidence, as it is that blatantly obvious. --173.59.207.131 03:27, December 15, 2009 (UTC)

Resurrecting Gary[]

Anyone tried resurrecting Gary 23 using the console on the PC? It just struck me as something to try. 116.48.91.11 11:41, 17 March 2009 (UTC)

Yeah. I did. Same AI as the others. His arm seems to be glitches off though...

Missing interrogation holotape?[]

When I tried adding the missing gary interrogation holotape with the console, it just gave me an error about "Invalid Object ID"

Any help? NovaSilisko 20:56, 9 April 2009 (UTC)

Gary 47[]

>There is also a random occurrence where Gary 47 will be equipped with a Scoped .44 Magnum.< This might be reference to No.47, killer from Hitman game who was also a clone. --94.112.91.136 15:14, 18 July 2009 (UTC)

I've just seen Gary 32 go to town with a Scoped .44 on some radroaches that were running around 108's Living Quarters. I'm guessing he got it from a locked safe on the upper level in the same way as Dogmeat is able to. It was quite comical - 32 stalking a pair of roaches while 3 other Garys ran about in a panic. ComaDivine 09:49, February 9, 2010 (UTC)

Yeah, I've seen Gary 47 with a scope, but very rarely. They usually run to any nearby safe, as there's usually some type of pistol in them. I think there's like 3 or so safes in the vault. Insane Survivors 22:24, March 1, 2010 (UTC)

I've once looted Gary 47 to find 2 Scoped .44's with the same condition, though he was just obviously using one. I truly believe this to be a reference to the Hitman series, as Fallout 3 already has enough external referfences.

IT'S NOT A FUCKEN REFERENCE TO HITMAN!1! If you're THAT obsessed with Agent 47 then go stick Blood Money on, but the fact that the 47th clone sometimes is packing a Magnum, does not make it a reference to Hitman. For one thing, it's way too vague, if it were actually a reference it would have been cleverer and more alot more obvious. 121.127.210.105 01:39, August 18, 2010 (UTC)Chester Koresh

47's signature weapon isn't even a scoped revolver. It's his paired stainless-steel AMT Hardballer 1911s. Definitely not a Hitman reference. 45.47.184.148 13:04, July 28, 2015 (UTC)

Racism on page[]

I edited out some racism on the page, and the Appearances section was the reverse of what it should have been.

Interact with Gary[]

Zooming in on any Gary with a gun will often make him say normal civilian phrases like "I wouldn't do that if I were you" or "Don't point that thing at me".
This is clearly some sort of bug, as I was hidden using my CSA, and they shouldn't interact anyway, due to being mindless clones. Do other characters say anything to you even when hidden?

Gary 23[]

Bit of odd trivia, don't know if it's worth adding, but in the Outcast Outpost in my game, my Gary-23 looked nothing like the other Garys - for a start, he was black. Bit odd considering he's supposed to be a clone! Chiliflamingo 23:00, April 26, 2010 (UTC)

Pulp Fiction reference?[]

This is probably not something we would put in the article even if it's true, even if it can be proven somehow which I doubt, but could the location and apparent race of Gary 23 be a veiled reference to the scene called "the bonnie situation" from the movie Pulp Fiction? Specifically, the part where Jules and Vincent bring a corpse to their friend Jimmy's house for safekeeping, a point which he's not too thrilled about. Kris (talk) 18:15, July 20, 2010 (UTC)

Serious mistakes in the article[]

If nobody objects I plan to change the article to correct several mistakes

1/ In the article it is said Gary 32 wields a .44. I just checked in the Geck and NO gary has a .44 magnum. there is none in the whole vault108. There are 2 container where it is "possible" to have a .44 magnum appear randomly : The lootsafe factory in the upper room near Gary 27, and the lootsafe office just near the lower entrance, not very far from Gary 29. There is a 12% chances a .44 appear in this container after level 9 but there is 18% chances for a laser pistol.

It is still "possible" for ANY Gary to get a .44 magnum, but it is totally random and very unlikely.

The best is to post the complete inventory of each Gary here :

Gary 1 : Vaultsuit 108 75% and levelled 10mm pistol NPC Cond ranging from 35 to 65%

Gary 12 : Vaultsuit 108 75% and leadpipe at 40% cond

Gary 17 : Vaultsuit 108 75% - No weapon

Gary 25 : Vaultsuit 108 75% - No weapon

Gary 27 : Vaultsuit 108 75% - No weapon

Gary 29 : Vaultsuit 108 75% - Leadpipe at 75%

Gary 32 : Vaultsuit108 75% - No weapon

Gary 33 : Vaultsuit108 75% - No weapon

Gary 36 : Vaultsuit 108 75% - Leadpipe at 36%

Gary 41 : Vaultsuit 108 75% - Knife at 36%

Gary 42 : Vaultsuit108 75% - No weapon

Gary 43 : Vaultsuit 108 75% - Knife at 42%

Gary 47 : Vaultsuit108 75% - No weapon

The only weapon int the vault is in the entrance level ( section Vault108a), a 10mm silenced pistol on the ground, but the Gary here (Gary 42) is already dead.

2/ For Gary23, in DLC anchorage, he uses the same template and model as any other Gary but not the traits, so he can be of a different race. In fact he is NOT african american, he is a caucasian raider using the model of LDGaryTemplate, the only difference is he wears a special unplayable version of the vaultsuit108 at 100% cond, named DLC02VaultSuit108 and nothing elseCroquignol 15:55, August 26, 2010 (UTC)

No objections here; feel free to fix any article you wish. You might also keep the The Vault:Anti-capitalization project in mind while you're at it. --Kris mailbox 15:59, August 26, 2010 (UTC)
Also you're right about Gary 23; I checked in the GECK yesterday and found the same thing, and upon changing his race to Caucasian from Caucasian Raider, he was identical to the other Garys. I didn't see where he was listed in the article as African-American, so I didn't take any action on that info. --Kris mailbox 16:01, August 26, 2010 (UTC)

Gary 23 armor equip glitch(operation anchorage gary)[]

I noticed after leaving and coming back to the base that the armor that i had left on gary's body had been equiped. I dont know why it does this but im guessing you could just play dress up with his corpse if you want. This is just to note it I doubt it needs to be added to the glithes page. the armor he takes still shows up unlike the jumpsuit.

Why?[]

if you figured out that the more clones you make them more aggressive why would you keep cloning them?

The clones are not aggressive to each other so it is likly the clones kept the project going. - RASIC Talk Poll 06:32, June 2, 2011 (UTC)

In order to figure out how to clone them without making them aggressive. Practice makes perfect! Or so they thought...149.200.193.27 17:51, February 17, 2014 (UTC)

WHO GARY MIGHT ACTUALLY BE OR IS AT LEAST BASED OFF OF[]

i think he is based on animator Gary Nooman look at noomans picture and look at the clone long enough and you will catch my drift208.54.37.165 20:22, June 6, 2011 (UTC)a guy that just likes facts and fan-fiction

Mesmerizing[]

I can't mesmerize any of the clones, but Spontaneous cranial eruption works. And Mesmerton's frenzy ability also works.BlueScreenError (talk) 07:44, February 21, 2013 (UTC)

Being John Malkovich[]

I'm surprised nobody has brought up the fact that in the movie "Being John Malkovich" there is a scene where Malkovich enters a doorway to his own brain and everyone inside is a Malkovich clone and they communicate by saying nothing but Malkovich over and over again. Surely this has to be a reference?

Gary[]

As mentioned above, the movie is also called Body in the Web, the main character is called Gary and is bitten by a mutant spider on a deserted island. The other characters call 'Gary, Gary' endlessly whilst looking for him. Very similar.
