If you kill Arkansas, he will "drop" his Sniper Rifle.

Literally drop it, off the second story; mate of mine gave up trying to find it after 5 minutes. :( Dafpants 03:34, 13 November 2008 (UTC)
That's rather silly, just loot his corpse and you'll get it. When they drop items you can pick them up independently, but unless you do so it's part of the corpse's inventory. This is kind of like how you can blow up his head and loot his eyeball two stories below his body. --DarkJeff 16:55, 17 December 2008 (UTC)

Exactly where is the decapitated body supposed to be?

Umm... "Ghost Town" doesn't literally mean haunted. It means a town which is now completely abandoned, for various reasons, such as a closed mine, bankrupt business, or in this case a nuclear apocalypse. I figured that Moira's comments about ghosts were just Moira being... Moira. Unless there are other NPC's who say it's haunted, is it really necessary to mention that?

Number of mines?

I found 58 mines that I was able to disarm, plus one that was lying beneath the asphalt road surface that I was unable to touch (the mines that are unreachable like this appear to vary from game to game). Anyone find more than that? LoneWanderer 03:56, 8 December 2008 (UTC)

This is in responce to the minefield being "haunted" I cannot remember which house I was in, but in one of the houses dogmeat started to yelp and then started floating in the kitchen. I dont know if this is a bug or the place is really haunted? **Uar**

My characters name is Zane which makes it weird that their is a Zane house.

-Posted as daydreamdirty- Lonewanderer, no I haven't found anymore (I think) and To the response above, yes it is a bug as remember running through a door up the slope in the back of the minefield and being catapulted up in the air once. Haven't been able to replicate it for some odd reason, but there is a glitch there. (might have been in one of the previous patches I believe)

I found 65 mines, many behind houses. I found entering a house and coming back out will bring the mines back to the surface.

Raider Hazing Party

I always approach Minefield from the cliffs on the north after going to the Alien Crash Site and MDPL-13 Power Station. The last time, I saw 5 Raiders in a circle beating with boards another Raider in his underwear; he was just standing there taking it. Since this was early in the game for me and I was low on ammo, I bypassed them. Anyone seen this before?

Yes. It's listed on the special encounter page. it can happen at any of the Special encounter locations. Mr.goodtrips 03:47, 3 May 2009 (UTC)

Gossip

It appears that while Mr. Gibson was out of town his wife cheated on him. His corpse is found at L'Enfant Plaza and there are two skeletons hugging in his queen-size bed. What do you think? Is it worth to be added to the trivias? --Javanni 01:18, 22 April 2009 (GMT)

Not unless there's something more concrete: the Gibson at L'Enfant could be a son or brother; the skeletons could be his kids, lodgers, squatters or maybe just a couple of people who don't want to die alone. --Vometia 01:12, September 17, 2009 (UTC)
Occams razor says it may very well be just that. It would also fit the Fallout humor. - Redmess 02:23, October 29, 2009 (UTC)

Pre-War Name

I've gone through many playthroughs and gone to minefield and never taken notice of this but I just noticed the key Arkansas drops is 'ridgefield Gate Key'. That being said I think before the war the town was called Ridgefield and after the war when the mines were placed people called it a more suitable name 'minefield'. Also i do think the Gibson's wife cheating should be added. Mr snip 09:02, 18 May 2009 (UTC)

Yes, I would agree, but after all, the folks here seem reluctant on keeping any miscellanious information (I tried to add these facts but was instead reverted). --Frozen Jese (Talk) 16:44, August 13, 2012 (UTC) Oh, and Moira Brown does prove your theory right with some talking. --Frozen Jese (Talk) 21:56, August 17, 2012 (UTC)

Ghost Voices

I heard a rumor once that if you stand in the playground at EXACTLY 12:00 you can hear children screaming. Is this true?

Nope.

Large teddy bear in Zane home

There is a large teddy bear in the Zane home upstairs. I thought it was worth mentioning since this wiki claims there is only 2 in the whole game.

Transformer station

Since this is the only article that I found that mentions the transformer station with the Quantum Nuka Cola...

When you pick up the BB gun from the skeleton look behind you - and up! There are nuka cola bottles lined up on the opposite powerline, including another Quantum (plus a skeleton). Use the BB gun to shoot them down, as it was obviously intended.

Maybe this info could be added?

I found it completely accidentally, by ordering Dogmeat to search for chems - he ran to the transformers, moonwalked for a while near the fence and came to me with a Quantum Nuka, apparently out of nowhere. I started looking around...

P.S. Great wiki! Lith

Similarities to Tranquility Lane

Has anyone else noticed how Minefield bears a striking resemblance to the neighborhood in the Tranquility Lane simulation? They're very similar. Perhaps it should be appended to the Notes section of the article. Thomasb2k 02:38, December 29, 2010 (UTC) i noticed and i was kinda freaked out by it maybe it was brauns childhood home? because he did say at the begining of tranquility lane "it reminds me of my childhood home" or something like that

Why did this happen..?

Made my way to Minefield like I had done a few times before..

Cleared out Arkansas && what not, it's late at night, almost morning. Literally just started the game, && was doing Moira's quest.

But when I was walking around Minefield, something started happening with my screen. It gets blurry, kind of like when alcohol wears off, and overhead it sounds like a plane flies over (which I'm sure there isn't one but that's what I would compare the sound to). And it continued to do this even when I slept in one of the beds in the house and woke the next morning. The only way it stopped is when I fast traveled out of there.

Why? Is this a glitch or something?

Side note: It happened in New Vegas too.

What platform did this appear on? -- The Old World Relics (talk/blog/contributions) 05:59, December 1, 2012 (UTC)

PS3!But yeah it's happened in both games at a certain place, both on PS3.

Assault Rifle?

The Minefield Homes section under the Layout heading currently says:

"The settlement has four explorable houses: Benson house, Gibson house, Gillian house, and Zane house, all of which contain valuable loot, including pre-War books, medical supplies and an R91 assault rifle."

Is this last bit right? I was able to find a scoped .44 magnum in the Zane house (or at least I think it was Zane - the one where that has the skeleton of the guy who shot himself while sat at his desk), but have found no assault rifle in any of the four.

Dark Brotherhood Reference?

Minefield TP hand
Minefield TP hand2

On The door of the first house it minefield there is a trail of blood leading up to the door and on the door is a Black hand print, does anyone else think this is a reference to the dark brotherhood from the elder scrolls?

Looking at those screenshots it is clearly just a bloody handprint. A man with blood on his hand touches the door, so probably not a reference. JASPER//"Do you like hurting other people?"UserRichard 22:38, December 29, 2014 (UTC)
