Unnecessary information is when some one says 'Festus prefers the color orange'. A completely relevant real-world reference is not unnecessary. Why is this more/less necessary than a reference to Jane Russel on Jane the robot's page? Seriously, there is no reason to undo that.

Punga

Yeah, I can't entirely remember. The defensive "spray" of the mother punga is definitely hallucinogenic but that is as far as it goes. If you're going to apply this as reasoning behind the tribal's behaviour however then it needs to be mentioned that the removal of brain matter is a much more likely cause. You removed the section however, and I'd suggest rather than removing sections that need to be rewritten you leave them until either someone else rewrites them or you do it yourself. I removed both instances of the latin meaning. In one case, the character is clearly named after a Gunsmoke character - a TV western. In the other case, there is no clear use of the name connected to the latin meaning. In general, we do not include notes on meanings of names. It's because of the fact that Licoln's repeater is a confirmed Henry's repeater, and it is also confirmed as the same model as the lever-action, but I also see your point, so this seems best :). I'll just ask an admin quick. Two ticks.

I need to say that I need to make these edits - shifting soldiers to warriors (only for Paladins). That is, Paladins are warriors, not soldiers.

Let me explain - Paladins are warriors, Knights are mechanics (at least in original Fallout, otherwise they're soldiers) and Initiates are recruits. That is to say, Paladins, Knights and Initiates are ranks, while warriors, mechanics, soldiers and recruits are roles. Reverted Edits?

Hi, I've enjoyed meeting you; in fact, I've enjoyed meeting all of you.

I am trying my best to make the proper edits and also am using my best grammar, spelling, and editing skills (I used to work as a reporter, editor and freelance writer, so I thought I might bring this to the table); but I notice that more often than not, my edits are reverted and deleted by admins and other editors such as yourself. It wouldn't matter so much if there was more to edit, but as I am very new here, there isn't a lot to edit; most of it has been done already, and I am adding things as I see fit here and there, where things are missing and where those new to the game might find them helpful. It is something I automatically do to also pay attention to the grammar and spelling of other editors, and editing spelling and grammar where I see fit.

I would be interested in knowing what direction I should be heading in; what I am doing wrong, and how to correct it in the long run so I don't end up wasting my time or yours. I enjoy being a member here and only want to contribute my best work. But when most of my work is deleted instantly, it does make me hesitant to contribute any more, as I feel I am only creating extra work for the admins, who already have a full plate. Every admin I've met does a great job editing, and many have done a great job on some of the edits done to my work, but to be honest, I do not understand some of the other cuts made. I am still new here so maybe I will figure it out...but in the meantime, any help on the part of you and/or the admins would be helpful since I have noticed you've been one of the editors doing many of the cuts and edits to my own edits.

Hi again, You asked if I wanted to discuss any of the edits: I guess I was curious about the two or three reverted edits from Paradise Falls; I think you removed the Sexy Sleepwear in Eulogy's Pad from the Notable Loot section, as well as the combat helmet, and the Nuka-Cola's that were in the box with the Quantums. I believe those were the issues I was wondering about. It is my understanding now that you removed them for being common items, instead of unique items or items necessary to the gameplay? Is this correct? Like I said in the summary, it's the most appropriate section for Malcolm and he isn't meant to die before reaching you. Also in the case of That Gun, it is based on the .223 pistol which is an exact copy of the gun from Blade Runner, literally a carbon copy. The only difference on That Gun is the lack of one trigger and possibly the LEDs. Honestly it would take something of a fool to believe the two have nothing to do with each other. Well, your doing good work already, so continue editing this way. Beware of removing too much information, for example I thought the formal wear note on the Veronica page wasn't that bad and a nice extra to the page. Also I like that you keep filling in the summary box, so we can see what you're doing. That's aiding you to become a trusted user. For the future, an idea would be to get yourself a bit more known to others, like you just did with Cartman!. For the rest, keep a friendly and constructive tone while interacting with others (but you're doing that already). And helping other users, like yesterday with Cat, will also improve your good name. And when we have forum threads where people can express their view on things, chip in with your say. Expressing opinions is also good. For the technical matter, I saw you started active editing a month ago, so you can't apply till about the 10th of November. Editcount won't be a problem for you, but the higher that is, the better. Spider drone

Why were deleted the "speculation" about the remote control, but kept the "speculation" about "a higher level of Chinese electronics"? The version of the remote control looks more reasonable when you consider that computer networks in Fallout are a complex terminal-mainframe. It is logical to assume that mines use the same structure. Much more logical than to assume SO advanced level of China's electronics.

You have to realize that this is a simulation. Technically, nothing has to make sense. (And there are quite a few aspects of the simulation that already don't make any sense). If you keep up your current activity you could get it yes. As for some advice, I'd just suggest doing what you are currently doing. Learn from experience and interaction with other editors, like the edit disputes you and I have had. Also you like to write a lot of things off as speculation even if it isn't, so perhaps familiarise yourself with the rules and existing evidence more in a case like this. Also, before you reach the requirements of an administrator you could also apply for moderator rights which will give you some more freedoms and will no doubt help you climb the ladder.

I don't respect you deleting my edit. I am playing right now and the gecko-backed-leather armor-reinforced defended me from a Fiend shooting me with a plasma pistol. Don't remove my edits unless you give me notice or prove your reasonings.

I have proof because i just played it. I looked at a featured article and it said it will ot defend against plasma or laser. So i edited it. I am new and i dont know how to personallly message you. wiki doesnt tell you this. I have proof, if you dont believe me, do it yourself. it will defend you against it, depending on str levels. the DT absorbs it for a short time.

We have tried Jury Rigging and have not been all that thrilled with it, especially with rare items. We no longer take it. As for the weapons repair kits available in good supply if you have completed Dead Money, (not exactly easily obtained, especially for a low level player), they don't do anything for apparel. Besides, once the last Add-on is released, we plan to replay the entire game, (we play in hardcore), and are seriously considering making OWB our first DLC. Anyone else trying the same thing could benefit from the information.

Perhaps you could suggest a better place to put this information, but, as managing one's caps is an important part of the game, we feel it is at least as important as the comment about the patched bug allowing a male courier with Confirmed Bachelor free repairs. Bozar

Hum... depends on the critical hit or the use of VATS also I think, since actually I killed Ulysses more easier than with my light machine gun (the Bozar has a better DPS and a better damage per shot from the Pip-Boy) or my All American. Anyway, I think you are agree with me it remains a good weapons for Guns character right =)? It's the same for All American, .45 Auto submachine gun or the Vance's 9mm submachine gun (unknown but really powerful too) that should be rewrited to better highlight them.

For the Bozar in FO2 actually, it is pretty overpowered, can kill anything (even Enclave soldiers) with one or two shot (15 bullets per shot). Not so rare if you know how find it ;). Well, there's been more times than I care to admit that I wanted to give up, especially in the beginning, which was very difficult. The worst part in the very beginning was, that I was an extremely busy person (think "type A"), and I went from my extremely demanding career to laying around in hospitals, to just having to lie around and watch TV at home (my idea of torture). And it lasted forever, in my mind... 2 years of grueling therapies, cog/phys rehab three times a week, humiliation ad nauseum. But I've come to terms with it as much as I ever will. I try to stay optimistic (and as busy as I can), but sometimes that's difficult, given the situation. Not to sound down, just the facts, pretty much, as they were/are. I am lucky though; the place where they sent my car said I had to be dead, upon looking at the car; and 3 of my ER doctors said I should have been dead. I also consider myself very lucky not to have wound up in a wheelchair or something, which I think would have been a very difficult adjustment. But along with the injuries that won't heal, I lost a lot of "myself"; now I have to go about creating new interests and even a new "self" in the absence of what I lost (if that makes any sense; probably doesn't). How did you like this novel? =D P.S. I love travel too, that's one of the things I had to give up for the first 2 years, but I'm like a cat, I land on all fours, can't keep me down for long =P Most of the time, anyway, lol. Hey, I noticed you editing the second after I did, and I figured you know a thing or two about weapons.. when someone put "It costs twice AP and does x2.5 DMG" for the unlabored flawlessness, what are they trying to say? I noticed that it uses around 45 AP, or at least by the time I check my pip-boy, it says 41/86. I don't know if the person meant "uses twice the AP as a normal attack". Thanks in advance.

Behind the scenes and "speculation"

I want to encourage you to do a little more research before removing some of the behind the scenes entries, especially the long-standing ones. There are several things to consider. First, "references" as we call them, should not be deleted as "speculation" -- as I have seen you do several times. And we don't need dev confirmation to list references. They follow the literary logic of allusions. They are in-jokes meant to be gotten by those "in the know." So, you need to keep in mind the history of the Fallout series as well as the so-to-speak "geek canon" -- consisting of movies and books that every geek of a certain age can be expected to be thoroughly familiar with: Monty Python's The Holy Grail, Star Trek the Original Series and Bladerunner, just to name three.

Now, this is coming from me, an editor whose first contributions to The Vault were overhauls and large-scale deletions of behind the scenes material. But, we do need to retain the valid and more likely references. Cheers.--Gothemasticator 23:52, October 23, 2011 (UTC)

Personally, I'm not in favor of removing skill magazines as notable loot. I like them being listed. Before you remove them from other pages, ask Avatar or Porter what he thinks. And I didn't upload the We Will All Go Together image, that was FlowerOfPocklips. Think it was some kind of promotional image. I like the image, it can stay on my account. Arefu

You seem to be a little remove-itchy, my friend. You may not see the connection but, what we have here is two origins of the name - both the "CAREFUL" and the Dracula reference. You should probably know that Count Dracula was a vampire, much like The Family, who have ties to Arefu in the Blood Ties quest. Regardless of their origins, they are, indeed, vampires in the game. Although their history states they were originally cannibals, at the time of the game they are vampires, hence the developers would add in that reference. Also, you seem to have some history with excessive removing of "Behind the scenes" information without actual research and deeming them "speculation". Jspoelstra had reverted the exact same edit on the page, showing that it is not just me. Before this gets any more attention than it has to, let a third party give their point of view. No need to call in an administrator on a good faith edit. You both make very good points. For example; the Family are not vampires, as Vance explains, but it is hinted in the game that many people believe them to be. Even the Lone Wanderer has the option of referring to them as Vampires. But, that doesn't mean that the developers intended for Arefu to be named after a town in Romania. It is far more likely that the town was named that way due to the CAREFUL sign that is missing letters. It's not the only case that is seen in the game, and in other installments. And besides, what kind of average Fallout player would even know about a small commune far out in the countryside of Romania called Arefu? I find it highly unlikely that the developers of the game added a reference so obscure that it would only make sense to European geographers. Anyway, you both have valid points, but in this case I will give two choices: one, you keep the information there because, honestly, what harm does it do? Or two, you remove it on account of it not being confirmed information because this is the Fallout Wiki, and the rules state that all speculation and opinion is to be kept off pages.
