If anyone is interested and wanting to contact Ausir, they will need to do so via Curse, since Wikia has now globally banned Ausir from all Wikia wikis due to the fork. Guess they wanted to slip that one under the radar while no one was looking. User:AvatarUser talk:Avatar 00:20, January 13, 2012 (UTC)

I was half wondering if to post this myself. I think this is a great shame, I think a lot of us on both sides have done a heck of a lot trying to make sure that this wiki doesn't have the full blown WoWWiki treatment, and this seems to be a very counterproductive action. Thanks for posting this Ghost.Agent c 00:32, January 13, 2012 (UTC)

I'm guessing this global ban is over their assumption that Ausir was trying to recruit new members here at Nukapedia? They sure do like to beat around the bush when it comes to their real intentions. Skål! 00:39, January 13, 2012 (UTC)

What did he do then? Or is this some kind of counter-productive measure? Jspoel Speech Jspoel 00:50, January 13, 2012 (UTC)
Ausir's side is that he was just answering a question about what happened to him. Agent c 00:55, January 13, 2012 (UTC)
Don't understand. Answering a question. Where? Jspoel Speech Jspoel 00:58, January 13, 2012 (UTC)

That's not the whole story. Ausir has been conducting Curse's business on Wikia (on wikis other than Fallout) including making demands of wiki admins. Such behavior is not acceptable from anyone. -- sannse WikiaStaff.png (help forum | blog) 01:05, January 13, 2012 (UTC)

Could you please link to these? Agent c 01:09, January 13, 2012 (UTC)
I have to agree here... I have been following Ausir since the split and I haven't seen him do anything like that; especially here. I guess I could be wrong though. Wouldn't have thought that would be his way though. Skål! 01:11, January 13, 2012 (UTC)
Hey there - we're not going to post the links as we don't want to bring Fallout to other communities (this is not a decision unique to this case; it's a policy we follow in general). That being said, you'll notice that we haven't banned or blocked any other Fallout admin who has chosen to leave; we hope you'll trust our judgment in this case. Jen Burton (help forum | blog) 01:16, January 13, 2012 (UTC)
Translation: We're not going to provide proof because we at Wikia are above answering questions from mere users. User:Great_MaraMessage 01:19, January 13, 2012 (UTC)
Your actions are deplorable Jennifer, you and your team of staff do nothing but bully upstanding community members. It's clear from this forum even though Ausir and some folks have moved on, actions made by Wikia against him are met with fierce opposition from the community that remains. You had best unblock him immediately

This seems all to suspicous to me, you guys give Ausir, who was once a member of YOUR wikia staff and a very valid member of the wikia community a permament ban, and when we ask as to why, you wont show us any proof, sounds to me you guys are just trying to silence him and so you decided to permament ban him as well, so whats next, you will permament ban anybody else that speaks?.AaaaaThe Nemesisx 01:30, January 13, 2012 (UTC)

I would not be at all surprised if further bans result from others who decide to speak out, all with a lack of proof. I'm sure this is going to continue until there is no more community of any sort, and this place will become a simple collection of information, rather than a bustling community. PPCLAI The great and mighty Jesse PPCLAI 01:48, January 13, 2012 (UTC)

^ lol I'm afraid you have a case of extreme paranoia. Although I do not agree with their reasonings for not providing us any sort of proof, they're not just going to go around banning everyone who questions them. On the other hand, I really don't see a justified reason for a global ban on Ausir. Unless you have deleted these conversations you speak of, I still have not been able to find any proof towards him forcing Admins to do anything. Skål! 01:59, January 13, 2012 (UTC)

I guess I would have to go along with these sentiments. The first thing that came to my mind was this: The split had been amicable to this point. Wikia and Curse were in a position where it was in their own best interests to not alienate the users of either (or both) sites. Wikia shouldn't want more people permanently leaving Nukapedia, and Curse shouldn't want to foster an environment over there that scares people from contributing to The Vault. However Wikia views Ausir, the fact is there are a lot of people here that view him in a positive light. When Wikia takes prejudicial actions against him without providing at least some explanation more that "believe us", they risk the very real threat of causing the exact exodus they should desire the least. This is nonsensical, and to me, bad business. There will be very real "fallout" from this, and the loss of even more editors is the last thing this wiki needs. I implore the staff of Wikia to provide us Nukapedia users a better explanation of the circumstances. If Ausir was meddling in affairs he shouldn't have, we're more than mature enough to see the merits of your actions. If Wikia does not give us a reasonable explanation, we can only infer that the actions were merely in Wikia's own self-interest, and quite possibly in retaliation. Don't make us come to that conclusion without at least some modicum of information. The Gunny 380px-USMC-E7 svg 02:57, January 13, 2012 (UTC)
I couldn't have said it any better. Skål! 03:04, January 13, 2012 (UTC)

I may not have been here long, but I was here when the wiki split. Your actions in this case simply cannot be justified without evidence of Ausir's wrongdoing. -ΣΔLet's talk! 02:50, January 13, 2012 (UTC)

Ausir was a great guy and all, but as long as he's not using the Wikia network anymore, I doubt it makes much of a difference. Sure, it might seem suspicious that he was permanently banned over all wikis for something that can't be disclosed, but it's not like we can't just head over to Curse if we want to contact him. 114.77.77.5 03:25, January 13, 2012 (UTC)
It's not necessarily about Ausir himself, it's about how Wikia comports themselves to their target demographic, us. When the company commander kicks in the barracks door and announces that you're gonna start doing PT in MOPP level 4 (that's the entire NBC suit, gas mask included) it's gonna piss off the entire unit. He doesn't have to explain anything to you, he's the Captain. But if he explains that you're deploying to a hot climate, expect grueling operations and that the enemy has nuclear, biologic or chemical weapons and you need to get acclimatized to survive, then all of the sudden he has a lot less bitching and much more respect. The Gunny 380px-USMC-E7 svg 03:33, January 13, 2012 (UTC)
Not that I understood a lot of the military jargon there, but I think I get what you're saying. I fully agree that by explaining the situation, the general public are going to react to the news a lot better. 114.77.77.5 03:38, January 13, 2012 (UTC)
Well, yes. Sorry. Sometimes I get carried away. But that's what I'm saying. PT is physical training, NBC is nuclear, biological and chemical weapons and MOPP level is how much protective gear you have to wear. Level 4 is the highest, fully suited up and it's very, very hot to wear, much less exercise in. The Gunny 380px-USMC-E7 svg 03:42, January 13, 2012 (UTC)
I remember chatting with Ausir on the Conduit wiki, I'll miss him, but life goes on in the Internet world. Who knows, maybe I'll take the guise Ousir one day. --Mr. Youtube 03:59, January 13, 2012 (UTC)

────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────You could always still contact him at the Curse variant of the Wiki. He spends most of his time there, even before the global block. 114.77.77.5 04:01, January 13, 2012 (UTC)

I do so love how this really cements my view of Wikia.
Question; was he banned for answering questions about the move?
That's not the whole story. Ausir has been conducting Curse's business on Wikia (on wikis other than Fallout) including making demands of wiki admins. Such behavior is not acceptable from anyone.— Sannse
Question; can you show us evidence?
Hey there - we're not going to post the links as we don't want to bring Fallout to other communities (this is not a decision unique to this case; it's a policy we follow in general). That being said, you'll notice that we haven't banned or blocked any other Fallout admin who has chosen to leave; we hope you'll trust our judgment in this case.— Jenburton
How can we trust your judgement when it has already driven away the majority of out active administrative staff and many great contributors? I'm sorry, but you have no credibility. Hugs MadeMan2 "Say 'ello to my little friend!"
P.S. Also, this made me laugh "That being said, you'll notice that we haven't banned or blocked any other Fallout admin who has chosen to leave; we hope you'll trust our judgment in this case."
That's the equivalent of saying "Yeah, I shot your foot, but at least I didn't shoot you in the gut, so trust me on this." It's ridiculous. MadeMan2 "Say 'ello to my little friend!"

That's just low. A petty, aggressive and completely uncalled for action. Just shows that Wikia employees are just hounds for the corporate interests of share holders. Personal_Sig_Image.gif Tagaziel (call!) 11:07, January 13, 2012 (UTC)

So I believe this is the link. Go to the bottom of the page. I don't know why the Wikia staff wouldn't post it, it wasn't hard to find (but hard for me to post the link... haha) ---Person of Refinement 06:13, January 13, 2012 (UTC)

Which shows Ausir's edit over 2 months ago. Hardly a timely response. Agent c 06:14, January 13, 2012 (UTC)
I don't see anything in Ausir's message that would condemn him. He is merely making a suggestion and is in no way forcing Curse down people's throats. Skål! 06:18, January 13, 2012 (UTC)

I saw what Agent C just posted, and I see absolutely nothing wrong with it. It's not leading anybody on. I love wikia's a lot, being active on two. I must express my opinion that globally banning Ausir from all wiki's is quite unecessary. He did great things for this wiki, helping it to become extrememly large (over 15,000 pages), and creating something that hundreds of Fallout lovers flock to today. You may have banned him, but he always be as a reminder of someone that Wikians should look up to.--Bunny2Bubble 06:23, January 13, 2012 (UTC)

I haven't posted any links or anything Two-bears, I think you mean Person of Refinement...Agent c 06:38, January 13, 2012 (UTC)
I'm afraid we're talking to a brick wall. Unless we go to Wikia community central and get every user to vote in favour of removing Ausir's ban on a forum... but even then, I doubt that Wikia would care. 114.77.77.5 06:27, January 13, 2012 (UTC)
Woops, sorry agent:P Mix up.--Bunny2Bubble 06:40, January 13, 2012 (UTC)

I don't have a dog in this race - but Ausir was advertising a competitor's site on one or more of Wikias wikis. Wikia got pissed. Wouldn't you get pissed? I'd be pissed. An admin at the wiki on the link I provided even told Ausir he didn't like his intentions, but left the post there anyway in the name of transparency. I agree that Wikia should act more like that admin - not that they should feel obligated to provide links - but that they should tell us the wikis he's done it on - we could find them ourselves easily from there. But that's not the point.

To me, it makes sense - Wikia has a business to protect. Granted: a site-wide ban for Ausir is probably a bit of an overreaction. A stern warning or two should have come first, at least. And we don't know that that isn't the case. But even if it isn't, while I can understand some of the frustration with Wikia about the layout and ads or whatever, the "last straw" mass revolt talk just seems, I dunno, overly dramatic. We're talking about a video game's mythology on Wikia here, not the overthrow of Libya.

Ultimately, there are good people left here and Wikia knows it. I do think they should come back to this thread and let it be known - but I think some people here could also try not mercilessly dismissing everything they say as out of hand, iron-fisted or part of a conspiracy. Thanks for reading. ---Person of Refinement 07:35, January 13, 2012 (UTC)

What isn't iron fisted about giving a site wide ban to an ex-employee who works for a different company, based on the flimsiest of excuses? Sannse and her coworkers haven't been helpful about the move and did everything in their power to prevent Ausir from exercising his rights to The Vault trademark; not because it was good for the community, but because it had a high ranking on Google and was putting cash in Wikia's coffers.
You're right, it isn't a conspiracy. It's just the corporation and its hounds taking out their frustration on the little man. Personal_Sig_Image.gif Tagaziel (call!) 11:12, January 13, 2012 (UTC)
He only made the suggestion on a forum that was debating whether or not they should move away from their wikia wiki. He was not bullying anyone into joining Curse and believe it or not, his comment was indeed appropiate to the forum he posted his comment to. (Although a tad late since the forum was closed.) I would have agreed with you if he was just randomly postings such a message on certain users or Admin's pages. But he has not, for what I have seen so far. Skål! 16:37, January 13, 2012 (UTC)
Yeah... for an American company, they sure don't appreciate free speech when it's other people speaking. Yet this Wikia site has had to deal with their decisions and we see what happens when Ausir does something about it. 114.77.77.5 11:14, January 13, 2012 (UTC)

This is indeed shocking news. However, before he has gone to the Curse, shouldn't he have consulted with other wikia staff? MysteryStranger: Trust in the power of Infinity! 12:14, January 13, 2012 (UTC)

Yet again, this is assuming just he moved. The community moved. We don't need to ask Wikia's permission to leave. Hugs MadeMan2 "Say 'ello to my little friend!"
Oh, all right. MysteryStranger: Trust in the power of Infinity! 13:48, January 13, 2012 (UTC)
-_- Geez, this was only intended as an announcement, not to fall into an all out debate of right or wrong. I would normally have used the news feed or site community message system, but I know what Wikia are like with such things, hence why I didn't use them nor did I add a link here (I kept that confined to Ausirs user page only, since that is the most likely point of contact). I would suggest that Clyde or Jspoel close this thread, I could do it myself, but I feel it is best for them to decide if the community wants to or should be able to continue discussing this matter in the interests of transparency vs possible flaming. User:AvatarUser talk:Avatar 16:24, January 13, 2012 (UTC)

A couple of notes before the thread is closed (if that's what the admins choose to do).

I feel we are in a bit of a Catch22 situation here - we don't want to drag another wiki into this, and generally don't discuss blocks other than with the person directly concerned... but we also feel that we've made good progress in working with Kingclyde and Jspoelstra here, and want to continue that.

The SWTOR example linked above was an incident we saw, and that led to the warning I left on Ausir's talk page. A lot of that was about this wiki specifically but, as I said there, it also related to his actions on other wikis.

Unfortunately, my warning didn't end the problems. We let slide a couple more talk page messages of the "hey! I've moved over here" type, but then felt we had to act when Ausir contacted admins of another wiki this week on behalf of Curse.

We were (of course) aware that some here would be unhappy with our actions, but we have to do what we feel is right for Wikia as a whole. In this unusual situation, it seemed that the best solution was to stop Ausir using the site, and ask him to contact us directly if he had any Curse business to discuss with us or our contributors.

One thing I want to make clear - we have not banned anyone for criticizing Wikia. Some of our most vocal critics are frequent contributors to Community Central and even when comments get abusive we tend to err towards letting people have their say. We don't want to shut down discussion, and we don't want to miss genuine feedback - even if it's said in ways we aren't happy with. There is nothing that has been said here that would ever result in anyone being blocked. -- sannse WikiaStaff.png (help forum | blog) 19:25, January 13, 2012 (UTC)

Maybe you should point out where are these messages? I've searched wikis for more popular games looking for Ausir's supposed messages of treason, but the search came up empty. Kindly provide evidence to your accusations. Obviously, since Ausir cannot reply to your charges, you are free to claim anything about him; that doesn't make it any more true. Personal_Sig_Image.gif Tagaziel (call!) 21:27, January 13, 2012 (UTC)
I believe you are referring to this?
Interesting. Figures the best evidence provided against Ausir came from an Anon. (Naturally, this statement is nothing against anonymous users.) Skål! 21:37, January 13, 2012 (UTC)

Eh, there is a user named "WIKIA banned Ausir for no reason" (or something like it). Not that I support him. MysteryStranger: Trust in the power of Infinity! 19:43, January 13, 2012 (UTC)

Wikia allows all these annoying, crappy advertisements to clutter the page; they let people display links to their facebook and twitter, and they certainly have no problem with users displaying links to other wikis on their network. But if one user wants to tell people about something he made for the benefit of Fallout fans, Wikia is quick to swoop in and ban him. When I left Scar an external link asking him to listen to a piano piece on Youtube, Wikia didn't give me a formal warning. 114.77.77.5 22:47, January 13, 2012 (UTC)

Sanse: In none of the comments I've seen from Ausir have any of the guidelines that you set been breached. If your issue is with the link provided by the anon, then I really can't see your objection - unless you are disputing that they are the official wiki? As a bearucrat that user seems to be the correct person for someone holding the rights to contact regarding an IP rights issue and to remove their apparently erronious claim to be official wiki... Or does Wikia not believe in IP rights now? I notice that wiki still claims to be the "official" wiki - shouldn't you instead be banning whoever put the word official there as they're passing off on someone else's IP without permission? Agent c 22:52, January 13, 2012 (UTC)

@114:It's all about the business. We don't want more people moving to the Curse site do we now. Less traffic, less advertisement efficiency... When it comes down to that... -ΣΔLet's talk! 23:07, January 13, 2012 (UTC)

Why do we, the users, care about advertising efficiency? As for people "moving", I have no issues with people visiting both sites... The whole us vs them I think is something we're better off avoiding. Just because you visit one Fallout fan site does not prevent you from visiting others.Agent c 23:10, January 13, 2012 (UTC)
