Who am I to turn away the ill? Even at this hour. What ails you?— The Archemist

Anna[1] (aka The Archemist) is the healer of the Children of Atom at The Nucleus in 2287.

Background[]

An older, partially blind woman, the Archemist is a Far Harbor native and was the doctor of the coastal town before High Confessor Tektus and Confessor Martin came north at the behest of Confessor Cromwell, speaker of Atom in the Capital Wasteland. While most harbormen saw them as a nuisance, Anna saw Atom's light in them and received their message well.[1]

However, this meant that she was driven out of town with the rest of Atom's children, and found home in The Nucleus.[1] Her beloved was also among these adherants, but he has since abandoned the faith.[2] Brought to the Nucleus on a stretcher, she continuously teeters on the brink of death, yet that doesn't stop her from healing those who come seeking her aid.[3] Despite the years of dedication to Atom, she still remains somewhat fond of her hometown.[4]

Notes[]

  • Despite the dialogue hinting at disfigurement, when one removes her surgical mask and garments her face and body appear unscathed with the exception of the Child of Atom markings on her face, her narrowed and blackened eyes and her face being noticeably hollower than average.
  • Although the Children of Atom worship radiation, it is possible to let the Archemist heal the player character's radiation. The Children of Atom call this "scouring" and it is done out of necessity (for not every Child is blessed with immunity against the negative effect of radiation) or out of religious penitence: "Scour oneself and embrace the Glow anew."

Appearances[]

The Archemist appears only in the Fallout 4 add-on Far Harbor.

  1. 1.0 1.1 1.2 The Sole Survivor: "How is it you came to this place?"
Tektus: "We were guided here, many years ago, after our exile from Far Harbor. The first of us, my predecessor Martin and I, had come north at the behest of Atom's great prophet, Confessor Cromwell... ...from a small refuge in the Capital Wastes. When we arrived on the island, we found a few souls receptive to Atom's message. Anna... the Archemist... was formerly Far Harbor's doctor before she found the Light. But most... they thought us a menace. We were chased from the town, driven into the wilds. Barely escaped with our lives. Some of us were... never the same. It was only thanks to the grace of Atom that we survived... and finally found a place that we could call home."

  2. The Sole Survivor: "You don't sound so great. Are you all right?"
The Archemist: "Old wounds. Reminders of a wicked life."
The Sole Survivor: "What sort of wicked life?"
The Archemist: "I was a doctor. In Far Harbor. I fell for a... pious man. A man... who has since abandoned us. We were chased from town by those upset with our union. I must've angered Atom, as well, as He afflicted me with... this."
    (The Archemist's dialogue)
  3. The Sole Survivor: "You don't sound so great. Are you all right? "
The Archemist: "On a stretcher, I'm told. I grew ill during our exile. When I woke, I was in this place. They said a woman wreathed in black led us here. But that it was already occupied. By an old robot lost in its own dreams. Slept away its days in the upper chambers. Had little interest in Atom, but interested in us. But it left many years ago. Decided it would be best if we had a place... of our own."
    (The Archemist's dialogue)
  4. The Archemist: "Far Harbor. Gone."
