Re:Forum

I have made the appropriate changes. While it was never intended as a rights-removal request or a motion of no confidence, I can understand how the original wording and intent would portray it as such. --Skire (talk) 22:39, January 13, 2014 (UTC)

Vote

Isn't that what voting no is for? When the votes are actually put up, there will definitely be a no section to vote in on both options. ForGaroux Some Assembly Required! 04:00, January 14, 2014 (UTC)

Each vote only goes to its corresponding option. If someone votes yes on option 1? That means they support it. If someone votes no on option 2? It means they don't support it. Even if someone votes yes or no on one option, and then they choose not to vote on the other option, it still doesn't change that they either voted yes or no on at least one of them. Hell, if they want too, they can vote yes or no on both (or neutral). It just seems redundant to me to have a third vote specifically to vote no on, when you can already vote no on the others. ForGaroux Some Assembly Required! 04:33, January 14, 2014 (UTC)
I did answer your question. No one is being forced to vote twice. Each vote is a standalone, and doesn't affect how the other one ultimately turns out. Just because someone votes no on the Admin option, without voting on the Patroller option, doesn't mean that they support the Patroller option. That doesn't even make sense - it would require the Bureaucrats to make assumptions. ForGaroux Some Assembly Required! 04:41, January 14, 2014 (UTC)

Read over your sandbox. Looking forward to seeing how it turns out. I'll fully admit that maybe I'm being too idealistic with this concept. But I figured it'd be in our best interests to at least see what the community thinks about such an ideal. ForGaroux Some Assembly Required! 21:48, January 15, 2014 (UTC)

From my end, everything looks about right. However, I'd definitely give 69 a ring, as we got to talking a few days ago, and we were discussing how a few of his original points weren't being addressed. It is his deal, so I want to make sure he's getting represented properly. ForGaroux Some Assembly Required! 21:54, January 15, 2014 (UTC)

It looks fine, and I suggest we get started on voting very soon; this topic has been here for quite a while. Everything I want to say I'll add to a separate forum, and, yes, we can keep the vote to just what's been discussed in the forum already. 69.l25 (talk) 22:04, January 15, 2014 (UTC)

Looks alright to me, I suppose. Maybe it's because of my relative youth, but three years still seems like a ridiculously long time for a review >_> --Skire (talk) 23:34, January 15, 2014 (UTC)

Good news. I got an offer from Theodorico over the Russian wiki to take a look at the FO3/FNV dialogue files and he can make a program that would automate the conversion. So it's best to wait until he gets it running and then we can assemble some workforce. 22:43, January 17, 2014 (UTC)

Expression errors

We are getting expression errors on newly edited pages, similar to a year ago. Just asked Wikia to take a look at it. Must be a problem with the infobox. Nuclear weapons, which was just edited, is still ok. Also asked them about the chart problem. Jspoel Speech Jspoel 23:49, January 20, 2014 (UTC)

Clarification

Hi Gunny. Chat was hectic and I initially had a problem distinguishing between the review vote we have now that the review I asked for. But I wish to clarify: I am requesting a performance of my job as an admin over the last year. I saw something on the Graveyard wiki that resembled it, but then realised it was something else. I couldn't tell if what you said in chat was serious or jocular. If you do not want to make another one, that will be the end of it. I just want a definite yes or no. --Skire (talk) 02:03, January 21, 2014 (UTC)

I checked the history of the page, the edit Tocinoman did before that edit, everything was fine, and after that edit, this screen came up. Checked with multiple page refreshes. After I undid his last edit, it was all back to normal, and the history also no longer displayed this... I have no clue what caused it, but I thought it might have been best to pass this on to you. Maybe you can explain it? - Greets Peace'n Hugs (talk) (blog) 13:54, January 21, 2014 (UTC)

Response from Wikia

The chart issue is a Chrome rendering issue, apparently. Not sure if this is how Chrome will be handling this from now on, or whether it's a bug. Essentially, Chrome is collapsing table rows that have no data in them... this is sensible in a sense. You can fix that in the meantime by ensuring your template adds values within those empty rows.

Can you check the {{Chart}} template and see if you can insert the value? Expression errors are gone, just lasted half an hour. Jspoel Speech Jspoel 16:10, January 21, 2014 (UTC)

Re:Talk page deletion

That was not the place to leave the user a note. Talkpages are not for that user discussing issues he or she encountered in the game; additionally, none of their problems even pertained to the article's subject. I did, however, add the bugs they spoke about into the proper articles, so there's no problem. 69.l25 (talk) 21:33, January 24, 2014 (UTC)

Want to contact the user and ask them what they meant? If there's no response, we only have what they wrote as a reference, and what they wrote mentioned campfires and workbenches; they could have meant to post it under the workbench talkpage and posted it under reloading bench by mistake, but I wouldn't get too involved in any theories. 69.l25 (talk) 21:52, January 24, 2014 (UTC)
Well it did violate the policy. I didn't remove it because it was off-topic, I removed it because it said, "This happened to me on my personal playthrough." Was it a bug? Sure, but we have a "Bugs" section for a reason; even if they clarified in their post that the bug was with the reloading bench, this report would only be moved to the "Bugs" section. 69.l25 (talk) 22:14, January 24, 2014 (UTC)

Dialogue files progress

I've created 9 FNV dialogue export files, for the characters with the most lines. When they are created, they get a name DialogueExport<name character>.txt. I suggest we leave the DialogueExport out for the name we're gonna use. You can see the results and naming in Category:Fallout: New Vegas dialogue files. Theo asked me a complete export so that's what I did. He then uses his bot with this as result, for Caesar. I've done extensive research on which columns we need and come up with User:Jspoelstra/sandbox1. It's similar to what TV has. I'm going to ask Theo to put these 9 files into tables and see how it looks. Possibly one column can be removed and one merged, first I'd like to see how things look. In the meantime I'll take a look at a fitting infobox. If you have a remark, let me know. Jspoel Speech Jspoel 22:03, January 25, 2014 (UTC)

Update

I see what you mean. I changed it back again. It's just that I hate unneeded red links and this one had been sitting there for just a bit too long on wanted pages. But now I see it can't be changed. It's for the main namespace article talkpage, not for the template talkpage. Jspoel Speech Jspoel 18:44, January 26, 2014 (UTC)

It's not such a big problem, but I'd rather not see it on admin pages. They're the ones most visited and profiled after all and leaves a bit of a bad impression. Concerning my vote

As per your chat request, I will leave a message here concerning my vote on 69's adminship request and his progression on addressing the issues raised against him over the last month. I'm afraid I'm going to change my neutral vote to a no, Gunny. Although he reminds me of how I was at that stage in my experience here. I know you remember quite fondly that I had a bad experience in conversing with a user who insisted on adding baseless speculation into weapons articles and would not listen to my attempts to inform him of our policy. That was indeed a one-off when I lost my cool and blew my first shot at admin by lashing out at the user in the chat and on his talk page. However, over the next few months, I maintained my composure and did everything in my power to ensure that I treated all users with the respect I expect to be given by others. This has carried over into my adminship, and it has become a part of who I am as a person. Three months later, I reapplied for the position and was unanimously voted in.

I think 69 is experiencing a similar situation. I think that he can work on the issues that have been raised to him over the next couple of months whether he is an admin or is waiting to reapply, and the result will be a very positive change. He has done wonderful work for the wiki thus far, and I am anxious to see what major contributions he provides in the future. Thank you for taking my input into consideration. Toci US Air Force Into the wild blue yonder... 05:06, January 27, 2014 (UTC)

While on the topic, I probably won't be available on the first of February, when the result would (probably) be published. Thanks for the great design, it's what I had in mind. Only thing that I could think of that could improve the overall layout, would be if the text bubbles could be have the same red border instead of the black (like border: thick solid red; color:red; in the top table). Anyway, already thanks a lot for the work, if the red border couldn't be fixed, no problem. Also great work on resizing the text bubbles! - Greets Peace'n Hugs (talk) (blog) 23:47, January 28, 2014 (UTC)

Talk pages

I have a funny feeling much of this was because of me. Let me explain: All two of the questioned talk page removals were done the same day a user made a post I deemed questionable. Of course the first removal was undone, but the second, although questioned at first, stays. I want to make it clear that I don't intend to clear out all talk pages, but when I see a recent change to one, I'll remove something if I need to. Hi! As I can see it, the problem is that there are too many floating elements. Depending on what you are up to, you could take two routes:

  1. Wrap both infoboxes in "something" and make it float instead. E.g. [[User:Теодорико/sandbox02]] I've wrapped them in a div (table will do) and made it float:right.
  2. Go for custom controller.

After deliberating via private message with Skire and Tocinoman, we have decided that the appropriate action to take is a two week removal of Hawk's moderator rights. This is behavior unfitting of any user, especially a moderator. It is in incredibly poor taste, and comedic value is no defense. We hope that Hawk may return and carry himself more of what we'd like a moderator to be. --TwoBearsHigh-Fiving Intercom01 05:52, March 8, 2014 (UTC)

I understand your concern. I'm at work on break right now, but when I get off I will regroup with Skire and Tocinoman and we'll see if something different comes of it. -TwoBearsHigh-Fiving Intercom01 20:01, March 8, 2014 (UTC)

Re:Blog in Chinese

The blog's written in traditional Chinese, so I had some trouble reading it. But basically it's a personal anecdote combined with a promotion (of sorts) for his personal blog (which was linked). It doesn't seem quite appropriate here... --Skire (talk) 21:59, March 8, 2014 (UTC)

It's done. I also noticed that he got banned from chat for spamming, so that would confirm his intentions I think. --Skire (talk) 01:56, March 9, 2014 (UTC)

Re:Admin consensus (pt. 2)

Gunny, after further discussion amongst ourselves, we have agreed upon a 3-day site block followed by a week of extra user rights suspension. This is because we believe the offence to be a rather unique one, and would therefore recommend a more unique action. HawK would be on a week-long block normally, which we believe to be too severe in this case. A 3-day site block and a week-long extra user rights suspension seems to be more fitting. For future intents and purposes, this would be considered his second block (normally a week long). Since we believe a 3-day block is insufficient, we recommend the extra user rights suspension as well. This way, HawK will be able to still utilise the chat and have some time to reflect on his mistakes. --Skire (talk) 03:31, March 9, 2014 (UTC)

True Police Stories Author

Gunny, the reason why I didn't add any information after the page was deleted was because there wasn't any information to add. The author's page was not cited, and even when we figured out where the name came from, there were still a bunch of disagreements. So, there was nothing solid to add as a note (I'm pretty sure we still don't have a name), and I don't want this to look like the discussion was overshadowing the whole situation, and we should have been adding the name first; it would have been wrong for us to add something unconfirmed. 69.l25 (talk) 02:59, March 10, 2014 (UTC)

Nuka-Cola art

I was just looking at that, while categorizing. I'll see what I can find out. Jspoel Speech Jspoel 00:01, March 11, 2014 (UTC)

The Quantum and Nuka-Cola logo are ok I think, they're just a little bit retouched for sharpness and size. The bottlecap is fan-art. Jspoel Speech Jspoel 00:25, March 11, 2014 (UTC)
Yes, that isn't supposed to be there. I removed it and uploaded a new image. Jspoel Speech Jspoel 00:29, March 11, 2014 (UTC)

Portal look

Sure, go ahead and change it. Looks fine to me. We can do with a bit of a change there after so many years of the same look. But then do the other portals as well. Jspoel Speech Jspoel 20:23, March 11, 2014 (UTC)

I forgot to get back to you on this. I like the layout but the way it looks in 8.1 in firefox is bad. I have new drivers and version of firefox. Same in IE. I need someone to verify this though. Did you fix the problem in FireFox? It's a necessity. Jspoel Speech Jspoel 16:05, March 15, 2014 (UTC)
Worked out well, I believe. Bit of a fresh, new look to it. Well done! Did you make the header letter-font a bit bigger? Jspoel Speech Jspoel 16:53, March 15, 2014 (UTC)
Ok cool. That would explain the smashing (the bar). My "monitor" is my 55" Samsung TV so I think it's wide enough lol. It looks good though.--Kingclyde (talk) 17:19, March 15, 2014 (UTC)

Fantasy Trip

Hey Gunny... I added 3 points to the dividable points that the halfling race gives rather than work on 35 (as that seemed to be the difference between the human base of 32 and 35, and the halfling seems to have less points in total). But if you wanna give me a few more... Won't object ;)

I'm thinking of trying to play him more as a con man/braggard rather than a straight sneaky thief (although he can sneak obviously). I was also thinking the Charisma talent, but master thief gives the help to lying, and charisma seems to just replicate the racial reaction bonus... If I had another point I'd throw it into courtly graces just to help boost the "Lord Wilmott-Marbury" alias.

What happens with Gear? Obviously the "Job" would be professional thief with this skill set. I'm thinking some throwing knives and a boomerang, appropriate thieves kit, and some light armour (Looks like I can afford a 3-4 point dex reduction or so given the racial bonus to throwing weapons).

Concerned about the lack of mage though... But lets see what happens. Agent c (talk) 14:06, March 13, 2014 (UTC)

Chat message received. Thanks for that. Had to look a few times to see what the difference was on the portal thingie, but when I realised the headings were bigger... I had to wonder why it didn't look like that already. I'd say implement. Agent c (talk) 00:11, March 14, 2014 (UTC)

Why the new changes to the verify template? I didn't think that there was anything wrong with it. Leea (talk) 22:04, March 15, 2014 (UTC)

Forums

Sounds ideal. Agent c (talk) 19:05, March 18, 2014 (UTC)

That means we're getting 2 subcategories below [[:Category:Forum archives]], right? A category [Wiki discussion archives] and a category [Proposals and application archives]. Moving them shouldn't be such a problem, it's only 800 pages which is not that much. You can easily check what kind of forum it is by the name or looking at the history of the page. Remember that some of the forum history wouldn't match for the correct category, because when we were still TV, applications were in the Wiki discussion forum. Those need to move to the Proposals and applications category. Other than that, changes to the header template look ok to me. Jspoel Speech Jspoel 23:00, March 18, 2014 (UTC)

Forum archives

I kind of jumped at the archive idea when Clyde brought it up in a forum discussion. All the discussions and proposals were thrown into one archive category. In hindsight, I believe that was too hasty and I sacrificed organisation for expediency. I notice you're setting up a new system. Please let me know how I (via my bot) can help in reforming the archives. --Skire (talk) 01:19, March 19, 2014 (UTC)

You'll probably curse me right now, but I don't really see a need for pinned discussions. Everything that needs attention is already at the top of the forum pages most of the time and what needs attention is highlighted already in the Community Messages. Now we need to keep track on what needs pinning and when to unpin it. Also, we're more or less are returning to where we were before, with a link to the archived forums at the bottom of the archives (compared to ->Next). But I guess it's a good things we're splitting the archives to more detail. Jspoel Speech Jspoel 15:56, March 19, 2014 (UTC)
I think everything looks pretty good. I like how you separated the pinned posts, that's very helpful.--Kingclyde (talk) 19:33, March 19, 2014 (UTC)

width of article main page

Hi Gunny,

I'm writing you because I've seen that you support the German fallout wiki from time to time... Do you have any idea how to extend the width of the mainpage to get the width at the Nukapedia? Background: At some articles with not so much text sometimes the info boxes conflicts with other tables. A good example should be the article for Cooper. Shure, we could make all of these boxes a bit smaller, but I think thats not enough and hard to read. p.s. sorry for my bad english... :-/

Thanks al lot! :) -- Hoschie02 (talk) 14:17, March 19, 2014 (UTC)

Re:Forums

This is what I can do: I can generate the entire current archived forums list. I can then manually separate the applications/proposals forums from the discussion ones. After that, I can apply the old headers (with the parameter) while keeping the archived forum template that I added when archiving the forums originally. Sound good? --Skire (talk) 19:30, March 19, 2014 (UTC)

Tusen takk for the addition of pinned forums. ForGaroux Some Assembly Required! 21:03, March 19, 2014 (UTC)

Hold on a sec. Are the new categories going to have their own space in the forum index? Right now they're all still in one archive location within the fora. Also, are proposals and applications only the ones we've had after the category was made? (In other words, would old proposals/applications that were made before the applications/proposals category go into the applications/proposals archive?) If not, this will be a lot easier (there's around 870 archived pages). --Skire (talk) 22:14, March 19, 2014 (UTC)

But do you want to include old applications/proposals in the category, or just the ones made after the category itself? --Skire (talk) 02:20, March 20, 2014 (UTC)

Templates

Hey Gunny, I am starting a Wiki on Gaming Consoles and such but I don't know how to use templates or install them. I want to use the all the templates we have here and then modify them for my use there so they aren't exactly like these. Can you help me out by putting those templates from here such as info boxes and nav boxes in to my wiki or showing me how? Thanks! Gunslinger470/The-Gunslinger "Some say this user is a Moderator..." Bot

Gunny, I'm sorry that I didn't get to it, I feel terrible since I promised. Something came up last night that I won't say here, but I absolutely could not get to it. I just got home from work now. Yeah, AWB is made especially for find and replace. --TwoBearsHigh-Fiving Intercom01 05:14, March 22, 2014 (UTC)

While I wish I could understand the synergy of boredom and plentiful cigars, I simply cannot. I was at my state's all-state music festival (orchestra) over the last two and a half days, so I haven't had a chance to reply or get the bot going. My apologies. It seems everything worked out pretty well though. I wish I could've been around so you didn't need to use AWB on your main account and flood the RC =P Hope all is well! --Skire (talk) 23:00, March 22, 2014 (UTC)

I think that's it for AWB (semi-active users, at least). I simply prefer using all AWB functions on my bot account. It keeps my main edit count more... pure, so to speak. --Skire (talk) 23:56, March 22, 2014 (UTC)

Re: Admin rights, etc.

Thanks Gunny, means a lot coming from you. The time came and I thought it was the right thing to do for the wiki. If you don't object, could you grant me rollback privileges? I've had rollback ever since I can remember and I can still utilize it in my daily dealings here. --Kastera (talk) 00:29, March 23, 2014 (UTC)

Thanks, we'll see how the patroller privilege works out. But first, I must read what patrollers actually do :P. --Kastera (talk) 00:38, March 23, 2014 (UTC)
I'm stupidly consistent and archive my talk page when I reach 150 subheadings/subjects. My talk page traffic has slowed down considerably, so who knows the next time I'll reach 150 (and don't get any smart ideas about spamming me to 150 :P). --Kastera (talk) 00:46, March 23, 2014 (UTC)

Not sure if Newbie, or vandal.

Hey Gunny, about 4:30pm 3/25/14 we got what appears to be a vandal, Goes by the name Gmodz Tutz, He created the pages http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Fallout:_Colorado_H.E. and http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/The_Fallout_Project_(Fallout:_Colorado_Homebrew_Edition), either this is something that I have not been informed of, or whatever, but just wanted to bring it to your attention, Thanks. --I really need to get a signature (talk) 08:34, March 25, 2014 (UTC)
